since just about everyone agrees the scripture doesn't call for an actual rod to be used i know that ppl are using it to excuse their own barbarism toward their children, even if it's 'well-meaning' or done out of 'love'. fuck them and fuck that. the practice is abhorrent and no actual 'loving' God would cosign it.
