Most of the studies are focused on who gets called from online ads.... basically, what's often the long shot way of getting a job because you're up against dozens of people and HR people will downselect on arbritrary reasons, at times.

If you're name comes with a great referral from someone else that's worked with you, you're much more likely to get the job. Building that network is important for anybody... but it's particularly important if your name is unique.

I have an African name and I went through a short identity crisis in my all-white middle school where I wanted to have a "regular" name. I, thankfully, got over that shit and have been teaching people my African name ever since.
