I don't know enough about Canon stuff to say for sure if that makes sense. I played with a friend's 70D recently and that seems like a cool camera.

I tend to use a 50mm or 28mm (which would be like 31.25mm and 17.5mm on Canon when factoring in the 1.6x crop)
