the thing about that, you wonder just what Prince was up to with this.
Only "He's So Dull" could work on radio back then. "Nasty Girl" somehow got some sort of spins, but The Doc's sure that had to be edited to high hell. "Drive Me Wild" was way too dull to catch on, unless you were really down with the Prince sound.

And then the videos. Well, MTV wasn't playin' no Black folks until Rick James called 'em on it, and CBS pulled a power move when Thriller dropped, so that was out. Even on Soul Train, Vanity and 'em had to put on a little clothes.

So you have an album that isn't at all even for radio (which was still important then), videos that might get late night play if any, and well, an act that needs The Time's help in a live setting.

Not good.
