"let's work" on Controversy sounds like something the Time would do. Sure, Prince could put less on the bass on his solo recording or change the drums up, but its the same style.
the only difference was the quality of the music. Most of the Time's songs (except for "777-9311") sounded like Prince's table scraps and rough cuts.
