Treat the voice as an instrument first, like any other (non-linguistic) problem solved.

But I do understand the desire for intelligible lyrics... it makes it a lot easier to sing a long... they impart additional (more tangible, manageable) meanings to a song...

i haven't even looked at the book yet. the more you listen, the more you hear the lyrics without trying as hard... like a jedi mind trick or some shit, lol
