I would say this is the most impacting death of an artist I have experienced. A lot of that has to do with the growing up with his voice, style, & music. For me it's his guitar playing that makes it so personal and sad. I always talk about how unique and beautiful it is when a guitarist can shred, but shred soulfully. Prince embodied that skill for me. The timing just blew me away...
I had just watched his old interview with Tavis. You hear D'angelo's interview with Tavis, and he talks about Prince so much. Then I went on to watch a bunch of older interviews and performances, and then the following week he is gone. I feel real lucky to have grown up with Prince and his amazing story.
This is truly a crazy and emotional day.
