Black Messiah is a big "fuck you" to everyone who liked Voodoo for shallow reasons and anyone who isnt willing to work to enjoy music

all jokes aside I understand 70% of the words on Voodoo, he made that album very palatable to anyone who was listening closely enough

now the lyrics are more abstract and difficult to hear, Im thinking he wants to shirk the sex symbol thing and just be an "artist"
