He hasn't admitted yet, because like most hipsters, he's
as interested in how his opinion interacts with other
opinions as he is the music itself. So he has to be sure
that his opinion is nuanced enough so as to not come across
like the opinions of the people he likes to criticize.

He *wants* to like it, so that he can feel original
and progressive for seeing the beauty in it, feeling
like he still "got it" as you alluded to.

(this same logic is why Pitchfork interviews Keef at
a gun range; that's artistic and chic to them)

Sad, because he'd be truly original if he just said
"this sucks." That's what all the smart people in here
are saying, because they're secure enough that they
don't need to worry about anything but their opinion on
the music.
