add in odd future, waka, gucci, em, tupac, wu, NWA and countless others who have used some strain of "authenticity" to add gravitas and excitement to their persona. the culprits that cultural critics cry about may changed--evil hiphop, evil rappers, evil record companies, evil hipsters--but it's the exact same shit. seeing people who claim to love hip-hop resorting to the same arguments as c delores tucker and bill o'reilly makes my skin crawl.

but older people aren't supposed to approve of what teenagers listen to, so it's not surprising former rap fans are willing to discount keef's music and so eager to parrot the bullshit that people have said about rap for 30 years.

edit: i disagree with the "nadir" part. people always say the newest guy is the worst yet. snoop and gucci actually killed people, man.
