look at all the top 100 entries.
tell me what song on that chart resembles anything on our last 2 records.
"going commercial" sounds so 1988 lol.

for one to go "commercial" there needs to an established moral ground which clearly there is not in hip hop (actually unless im talking to a 1988-1997nite) actually the OPPOSITE is in effect now in which for those NOT trying to appeal to mindless masses are now seen as wack.

i know this isn't your disposition but i hear the occasional "roots sold out" from a blog or two which cracks me the fuck up. it just sounds caveman outdated, like someone literally in a time machine yell "sock it to em brother" or "gimme some skin" or "gimme 5!" or "power to the people!"---i laugh cause its like they didn't get the memo.

noone gives a fuck anymore about morals in hip hop.

for if they did? they'd abide by them (actually those who illegally download i see are the real sellouts)---but this is another story

anywho i think the main disposition was that we'd get lazy in making albums once we went late night.

i wanted to prove the total opposite to be true.

we now have more time to concentrate and develop good ideas.

im not worried about hits cause we were never hits based

im just concerned with making great albums.
