I mean it's all relative, Wu kinda did that when they dropped even though in retrospect there was still some acts dropping quality product in '92 who were relatively close to their prime.

When groups like the Stooges, Ramones & eventually the British punk bands came in there was still good rock records & legendary bands not completely ancient & useless just yet.

Nirvana & Run-DMC both felt like a reaction to something.

Not trying to compare OFWGKTA to anybody yet but just saying they can be a part of a bellweather moment in rap where the younger, DIY, web-driven next generation can make up their own rules & carve out something cool enough doing it that they render a lot of the old shit irrelevant just by existing.

That's the kind of thing that excites me in any genre of music (but especially in my favorite one that I've watched grow up) & something I hadn't seen in awhile in hip-hop.

Tyler & them look like it or at least part of it.
