I'm sure he knew the response he would get but at the same time, I don't think he believed his music/artistry would seem secondary to the sex symbol thing.

I have not the slightest doubt that his music will be better than your current fav R&B artist when he returns. I would prefer his music over any other R&B artist out there. Making songs that people like is the last thing I worried about from him.

And maybe it was all of the above...and then some. Ish happens. Just as long as he drops some music that's sonically on point is all that will matter in the end.
