119024, looking back on it, I didn't really understand a lot of rapper's lyrics Posted by Amritsar, Tue Feb-17-09 12:32 PM
until I received knowledge of self. Brand Nubian, Wu Tang, Rakim, Guru, even some of Nas's lyrics went over my head as a youngster. Its like they were speaking in code, and understanding the Lessons and Supreme Mathematics helped me to figure it out.
I would imagine its still like this for 85's that are into hip hop.
>After clowning my 17 year old cousin for askin me, "why did >112 like Peaches and Cream so much? Nobody even likes that >flavor"...I realized that there were a lot of songs that I >didn't catch when I was growing up. With some, I just didn't >get the symbolism...and with some, I didn't understand what >the slang or main topic was about until I got older. > >So without worrying about somebody teasing you for your age >(or lack of it)...waht songs do you admit to not understanding >back in the day?
