but then again, a lot of the aesthetic by the mid- to late-70s was leaning towards "old"... when you look at pics of (mostly white) people back then, it's hard to believe that they are in their 20s with their Fu Manchu mustaches and three-piece suits.

which is why MTV came out in 81 and spotlighted a lot of the Brit bands who were flossing a really youthful aesthetic, American rock immediately seemed old and flabby in contrast.
