I think that the instant classic status laid upon these albums, especially TLB, is more a statement about the sad, cookie-cutter, state of hip-hop. I think these are some GREAT albums, but I have heard people comparing Andre 3000 to Prince and (GASP) a hip-hop Miles Davis. SLOW DOWN (c) Brand Nubian!
They continue to grow as artists and that's cool, but shouldn't all artist evolve like this. And what amazes me is how we trash other artist for doing the same!
To restate my position, this is a great album! They took a risk and it seems to be paying off. Hopefully this will inspire more artists to evolve. But, cool it on the greatest album ever talk, and the Andre is a genius talk. I am not just talking to OKP here, but I hear this at work and in the streets!
On another note, this might be a good time to release Kamal the Abstract!!!
