I downloaded the updates for Windows 2000. Still no juice on recognizing the drive. When the computer had XP it recognized the drive and all was good. I installed 2000 on the computer because it was running extremely slow and I thought it was because there was too much of a strain using XP. The computer now runs smooth but no external to be found. And my mother only uses this computer to go online and play poker.

Any other suggestions?

My cousin recommended I update the BIOS. I've never done that before so any help is appreciated.
