68276, website designs and copyrights (a question)
Posted by .Mica., Tue Jun-20-06 11:29 AM
so say i design a site for someone, is that design copyrighted to only that one business? does that need to be discussed or is it automatic?

if i design a site for one business and another business likes the same design but wants it with different colors (and logos of course) can i do that or would i have to clear it with the first business?

this is all moot if im designing both from a previously established template of course.

websites, or at least the visual design, outside of a trademarked logo are NOT copywritten. so in that case you could take elements of a page you developed for company/client #1 and then use it for company/client #2.
