When I was seriously looking, I was looking at two Hisense models:

100-INCH 4K LASER TV!! Hisense L5 Review

There's also an LG model I was looking at because I really like the OS.

Best Ultra Short Throw Projector (I think it's mentioned in this review).

So there's the cost of the projector which, yeah, is up there. I feel like the size of the screen is worth it. No way I'd be able to get an 85"+ OLED for this price. And that Hisense L9G comes with a screen which is about $1K itself. Also, I've been researching projectors for over 10 years...ha ha. The cost was never the issue, it was always the space. When I bought the condo I was in, it checked ALL the boxes EXCEPT it a good wall for a projector screen. So I knew then my dream of a movie room was going to be on hold until I moved into a house or something.

I've definitely moved away from a more traditional projector and I'm looking at the short throws. Easier setup and I need something that doesn't require complete darkness. The only real setup that I would consider getting professional help with is the screen. Many of them (that don't come with the projector) you have to install yourself. I've seen the installation videos on youtube and I don't trust myself to put it together. I'm also thinking about moving away from the traditional home theater receiver and speakers to a more wireless system. That new Sony wireless system with Dolby Atmos looks promising.
