monster train has a very appealing rube goldberg feel to it that StS lacks (except with certain exhaust-focused builds.) it's fun to set up the dominoes in an umbra deck and watch your monsters get stronger. i like the positioning mechanics too. the game as a whole is a nice mix of cards, tower defense, and a little classic jrpg. i don't know how replayable monster train is compared to StS but i do keep trying to advance through the covenant ranks so there must be something there
