it's amazing how many decks can be made viable because there is so much synergy built into the game. i completed a floor 1 snecko eye watcher run the other day, essentially negating snecko eye's drawback with retain cards, establishment, and meditate. watching jorbs play and talk about how relic x is normally kind of bad but he picked it up since he has cards y and z has helped me think about card and relic value beyond their their properties in a vacuum. he also said something about building a deck to solve early game problems (elites, act 1 boss, etc.) on the way to becoming a deck that can beat the act 3 boss(es) and/or the heart. that helped me approach runs differently and start climbing my way past the early ascension levels
