have you guys heard of these things??? jk

where do you guys stand on some of the (relatively) new changes we are seeing?

no headphone jack?
no expandable storage?
notch/cutout/popup selfie cameras?
folding phones??

how often are you replacing your phone?
are you loyal to a brand or os?
how much are you willing to spend on a new phone?

i finally paid off my s8. id be lying if i said im not itching to get a new one. im going to try to hold off as much as possible. i probably just need to get rid of garbage i have on it to free up space. maybe a reset. theres not really a lot of new stuff that makes me want a new phone. i dont think im ready to lose the headphone jack. i have some headphones i use at home that are not wireless and i usually charge my phone while using them.

im a bit concerned with how much storage i need. i have 64gb internal plus 256gb sd card (actual 193, so i think the size is 256). the internal constantly has less than 1gb free. ill clean it up and free up like 4gb then two weeks later its back down to 1. if i could keep 4gb free constantly i think the phone would perform pretty good. as it is i would be worried about getting a phone with less than 512 gb if it didnt have expandable storage. maybe 128gb internal if it had expandable. i remember when 20gb hard drives seemed excessive.

in my mind i would hope i would spend $600 max on a new phone but i know i do like to lean towards the no compromise options so id probably be closer or over $1000. im going to try to wait until next may, no idea which phone i would get. the biggest improvement i can see wanting is a better camera but its not really critical.

>no headphone jack?

WACK.
though I use them less now than I used to, I like having the option. especially for travelling.

>no expandable storage?

depends on the phone. if there's no >=256GB option for the phone's base storage, it's bullshit. not a complete deal breaker but will mean I need to have to take an extra device with me.

>notch/cutout/popup selfie cameras?

as for the notch, it depends:
the best "notch" IMO is the "teardrop" notch deployed on the OnePlus 6T, and Samsung A70.

the Apple notch is "meh" but it is functional, ditto for most of its imitators (except the real shameless ones)

The Google Pixel 3XL notch is bullshit and just an all around wack design.

>folding phones??

Meh.

>how often are you replacing your phone?

lol...

>are you loyal to a brand or os?

Not anymore.

The Pixel 3a is the first Google phone I've liked post-Nexus. But no microSD. If it had that, I'd crown it GOAT.

I'm not too enthused with the Galaxy Note 10 even though I might be considering it. The only way I'd go for one is if I get enough money off a trade in. I'm not paying full price for that.

I really like Sony phones. And thankfully Verizon is allowing more of them on their network.

And Apple's... OK, I guess. LOL

>how much are you willing to spend on a new phone?

I generally don't think too much of the price because I'm rarely paying the full price (I get my phones off Swappa or off trade ins). I just want that money to be purposeful.

Which is why I really would like a 512GB iPhone, but I'm not spending $1440something for it. it's an -iPhone-. and the XS/XS Max are basically the "Galaxy S/Galaxy SPlus" redo of the iPhone idea.

Even a Galaxy Note 9 @ 512GB and the upcoming Note 10+ at the same storage is less than what Apple charged for the XS Max at that storage.

I'd probably look at an S9 unlocked w/128GB (if you can find it)
or even a Note 9 on Swappa. Both still have the jack and microSD expansion.

304668, ive been using the headphone jack on planes lately.

i forgot about that. when i got my bluetooth headphones i for sure thought id use them on the plane but airplane mode messes that up. cant they just admit airplane mode is pointless and let us keep our phones in regular mode the whole flight? i could probably leave it on and they wouldnt notice but i cant bring myself to do it lol. so instead of switching to airplane mode then turning on bluetooth i just use my headphones with the aux.

the good thing about samsungs is they discount them like 300+ just a couple months later plus some value for trade in. thats how i got my s8, ended up trading in my s7 because it just made too much sense lol this was right before the note 8? came out

im a snob on this. i sure loved selling my old phones but ive never bought a used one. i dont see that changing anytime soon. id rather hold out. i should get a big bonus in april so id have the money for a new phone. if the s11 loses the headphone jack ill probably be looking outside of samsung. im sure i could get by without the headphone jack but might as well consider other brands at that point.

Yeah. I think the S10 line fell to like 600 or so recently.

Swappa actually sells new/unused phones too, at a discount. The one Xperia I got from there was like that. I think it must have been a store's overstock or something.

By that point S11 should be out. I don't think it'll have the "hole punch" cutout for the camera this year's phones do.
304670, is it new phones of any model on swappa?
Posted by mista k5, Thu Aug-08-19 03:21 PM
or its more so models that didnt sell well? i keep my eye on these less popular brand because they usually come out with some cool features. im hesitant to pull the trigger because i think theyll have too many bugs.

ive never given sony phones a proper look. i think the few times i looked at one my nintendo pride would make me put them down lol i dont know what brand i would go with if i ditch samsung. i dont see myself ever going iphone.

i figure we will have a lot of cool stuff announced in spring next year so im going to have to keep my head down until then.
304675, oh yeah. the rarer ones are harder to find (i.e. Sony)

but I was able to find a new Xperia 1 recently. Wonder what the deal was there.

New unused iPhones there too. they have to provide pictures of everything to sell there (I've sold there) so you won't get scammed. and if you do, there are safeguards.

But yeah. Next year I think Samsung fixes a few things. This year felt very transitional. And I hope the "no headphone" jack trend doesn't stay their way. It's nice to have both. and frankly, there are some annoying aspects of Bluetooth headphones.
304678, Loved my Sony, but couldn't buy another one
Posted by spenzalii, Mon Aug-12-19 10:37 PM
Absolutely loved my Z3. Paid it off. Would still have it if the battery didn't crap out. That and if it didn't get stolen out of my car, but...

I couldn't justify buying another Sony for a few reasons. First, no US carrier sales, so buying aftermarket and getting my own insurance would be the only way to go. Assuming I did that, there's really no compelling reason to go through the hassle. XZ1 was the last of the headphone jacks. XZ2 and XZ3 are fine, but a generation (or 2) behind on processor and no headphone jack. Their new One line has the weird 21:9 display which gives you a taller phone than I'd like. Besides having a dedicated camera button there's nothing they do that's that much better than any other phone, but they come with compromises I don't want (RAM, internal memory, no headphone jack) at a price higher than most other phones.

As anti-Samsung as I have been for years (but pro-Android, I'll say), I ended up with the 10e and have been happy so far. No serious compromises, specs work well, 128GB internal memory stock, SD card slot, and OneUI doesn't suck.
304681, welp - i guess bixby has been spying on me
Posted by mista k5, Thu Aug-15-19 10:14 AM
phone crapped out on me last night. on my way home android auto disconnected. i tried to get it working again and it wouldnt. later in the night i plug in my phone to charge and no problem. i go to bed and plug it in, wake up an hour late and the phone is dead. no indication that its plugged in. ive tried different cables, outlets, adapters, wireless. nada

i figured the usb port was crapping out but for it to not even charge wirelessly?? would that make sense if the phone is fully dead? plus it had at least 60% when i went to bed so it wouldnt just discharge overnight. i dont know if its some virus or what.

i guess im going to replace it at lunch???? what should i look for at bestbuy/verizon?

right now im thinking of going two different routes.
1. buy the best phone thats available in store, hope theres a bogo offer to recoup some money.

2. if i dont like whats in store buy the cheapest phone they have (>$100) and order another one. either this week or hold off for some months.
304682, sounds like the battery
Posted by hardware, Thu Aug-15-19 03:52 PM
304688, yeah i think so
Posted by mista k5, Fri Aug-16-19 10:01 AM
im halfway wondering if i should look into getting the battery replaced.

i went ahead and bought an LG stylo 4 as a temp. during my morning routine it dropped like 2% in battery. the s8 was dropping like 20-30% during the same routine. this is like 2/3 hours.

im not sure what im going to do as the final solution. my initial thought was return the lg and take the $35 restocking hit. im looking into s10, probably s10+. att basically locks you into a 30 month contract to get the discounts/rebate card. verizon is 24 months. i dont like how they made the discounts be monthly credits that disappear if you decide to pay off the phone.

gotta do some math and look at cheaper options that have similar features. open to suggestions.

after having the stylo for less than a day i miss the always on display, the good cameras and the screen. *also miss having compatibility with the gear s2 watch.
304691, i think im going to take it to batteries + bulbs to replace the battery
Posted by mista k5, Fri Aug-16-19 02:28 PM
just want to know if they can tell if thats the problem. dont wanna pay $70 and it still wont turn on.

im not sure how much stuff is on it that i NEED to recover but if it does work then i think $70 is a fair price.

does anyone know if verizon will accept a phone in with a replaced battery? can supposedly get $200 for trading it in.

i think my brain has already set on getting the s10 but maybe i end up waiting if the battery replacement goes well.
304692, batteries don't usually factor into the value of the phone
Posted by hardware, Fri Aug-16-19 04:25 PM
most manufacturers/dealers don't care about the battery when it comes to rebates
304695, the rep said in working order. so i figure they make sure it powers on
Posted by mista k5, Fri Aug-16-19 05:41 PM
after that its all fair. im just hoping the battery replacement works.

Edit: called batteries + bulbs and the tech said to take it in. they will diagnose it. if its the battery then they will swap it out and were good to go. if its not, they dont swap charge ports on the s8 so basically they would put the old battery back in and no charge. i think theres a music store next door so it will be a good excuse to spend some time in there maybe pick up some stuff.
304711, no luck
Posted by mista k5, Mon Aug-19-19 09:58 AM
they said its not the battery or the port. guess its going to the recycle bin.
304700, I just bought a new 128 gb s9 for $582 off Amazon
Posted by Kira, Sat Aug-17-19 12:09 PM
They selling new s9s on Amazon for $330+.

These trends are all trash and most people are perfectly fine with a mid-range device. Only problem is software updates. You wind up spending max $400 every two years if an os comes out that you like but can't update to.

People don't take into account accessory ecosystem when buying devices. Look up accessory availability and American customer service ranking before you buy a smartphone.
304710, its really looking like samsung has a grip on me
Posted by mista k5, Mon Aug-19-19 09:57 AM
even though i just had the s8 fail on me i dont see anything viable thats not a samsung as a replacement. i will get $400 off any s10 with an interest free 2 yr loan on it. i only wish the phone itself had dropped in price at verizon and i could add my offer on top of it. i think im pulling the trigger on the s10+ today. need to double check the s10 because i kind of dont want such a big phone but i dont like compromising if the price difference is reasonable.

im thinking the amount im going to finance on the phone i will put towards paying off a CC so it will be a net win.

using this lg stylo 4 (which i know is old and budget) for a few days has me pretty convinced i need to stick to samsung. they have gotten pretty decent on updates lately. i dont think any other phone offers all the features they do. is there a decent alternative to knox/secure folder?

hopefully in two years there a bit more clarity. its too much of a transition period right now with the companies trying to find any gimmick to sell phones.

304714, I was in the same boat. Fought buying a Samsung for years
Posted by spenzalii, Mon Aug-19-19 12:25 PM
Broke down and got the S10e a few months ago when my LG G5 had more issues than I cared to deal with. It was the best combination of features, price and lack of compromises I could find. While I hate being a lemming, I'm happy with the purchase.
304846, that's how I landed on Samsung in the first place

I was strongly considering a LG G3 years ago when I was forced to upgrade. But I just saw that Samsung actually had cases and stuff. My sister had one, so I was like, fuggit.
304712, I've had my iPhone 8+ for almost 2 years
Posted by handle, Mon Aug-19-19 11:28 AM
In the past I upgraded every cycle, but this phone 'does enough' for me to keep it.

First: I hate that Apple has moved ENTIRELY to a gesture based interface and removed the home button on the new phones.

I liked the home button, and I dread the day when I have to upgrade my mother's phone and explain to her how to use the phone without a psychical button- it will probably never be the same for her.

Also my use of "apps" has stayed nearly level in the past 3 years.
I have my thermostat app, my Podcast app, Twitter, Nike Run Club, my bank, Weather Underground, Google Music, Scrabble, and my SecureToken from work.

I feel these apps all ran well enough on the iPhone 5 - the processing power is almost entirely irrelevant to me now.

And the camera is pretty good for snaps. Google's Night Shot feature is sorely lacking on iPhone but other than that I get good enough photos.

I don't see how they're going to get existing users to upgrade as fast as they used to - they aren't.

My warranty runs out on the phone next month - the reason to upgrade will be when it is damaged enough where the repair cost is too high for me to be comfortable with.

Or if they dramatically improve the camera - but it would have to be dramatic.
304715, same with the GOAT 8. possibly my best phone ever
Posted by Dr Claw, Mon Aug-19-19 01:30 PM
If I move on, it's to a Note 9 since it has a 512GB version.
304730, Got my phone replaced with a new one
Posted by handle, Tue Aug-27-19 06:23 PM
Reminder: Your Applecare+ might run out soon - get your phone fixed before it expires

My iPhone 8 Plus has having some minor issues that I was living with, but when I remember my AppleCare+ would run out next month I called Apple and got it swapped out for a new one using the iPhone Express Replacement Service program at https://support.apple.com/iphone/repair/service/express-replacement .

You basically call them, tell them your issue and they send you a new phone.

They'll put a hold on your credit card for the full price of the replacement and send a new phone to you overnight. When you return your phone to them the charge drops off. (Unless you did something bad like sent them a iPhone 4 back, or replaced your battery with a cheap no-Apple part, or microwaved your phone, etc.)

So after using my phone for nearly a year and 11 months I have a new phone that has no issues, and a brand new battery.
304731, thats pretty cool
Posted by mista k5, Wed Aug-28-19 09:40 AM
i dont know if the insurance offered for android phones is similar. i dont think you can just call and say youre having issues but maybe? im debating on adding insurance to my new phone (whenever i get it)
304716, update - i have no will
Posted by mista k5, Mon Aug-19-19 05:42 PM
i ordered the note 10+ handsome looking phone. got 256 gb for less than the s10+ 126 gb. that aura glow looks nice 12 gb ram? specs wise this should be a monster.

>no headphone jack?
i decided ill deal with the dongle for my sennheisers. it comes with usb c ear buds so thats going to take care of the 80% of the times i used wired headsets.

>no expandable storage?
had to have this, maybe at 512gb or 1tb internal i would be okay without it. this is a main reason i went with note 10+ instead of note 10.

>notch/cutout/popup selfie cameras?
this was part of the reason i went with note 10+ instead of s10+. the double camera and on the right corner was bugging me. the center just looks right in comparison.

>folding phones??
maybe in 2 years

>
>how often are you replacing your phone?
i guess 2 years on the dot heh

>are you loyal to a brand or os?
samsung owns me

>how much are you willing to spend on a new phone?
counting the promo offers i guess $600 give or take

ha! so i had said 128 gb was my minimum with expandable storage and i almost went with that. getting 4x internal storage should be good. getting 3x ram? nice

i said i would want to spend around $600 on a phone but would probably spend $1000, solution? get a $1100 phone for $600 lol.

ill report back with thoughts on it next week.
304738, FINALLY got the phone in yesterday
Posted by mista k5, Wed Sep-04-19 10:26 AM
early thoughts, its BIG. so for that hasnt been a bad thing. fingerprint sensor seems to work as fast as the one on the s8. i know it is supposed to be slower but i guess finding it on the s8 slowed down the process. phone looks real nice. the aura glow is whatever. i havent encountered any lighting where the cool effects show up. not sure its worth waiting longer for. the power button placement is not bad. while i was juggling between the old phone and this one i got used to the power button being on the left so much that i tried to turn off the old phone using the bixby button lol. i think this will actually become a good thing as i can hold the phone in my left hand while using my right to navigate. i was holding the s8 with two hands so thats not a problem. im a bit worried about there being no led notification indicator but i think im actually going to like it. that light always annoyed me. i can now be like most people and ignore notifications until i feel like it lol. the front camera punch out is not a factor so far. i dont like that the charge has a usb c input. thats going to limit how often i use the charger it came with especially with such a short cable they provided.

if there is anything specific yall wanna know about let me know and ill test it out. im looking forward to trying out dex.
304759, a week later
Posted by mista k5, Wed Sep-11-19 09:32 AM
the size is not an issue.

the speakers are okay. i think theyre better than the s8 but not by a lot.

im starting to have some fears of no headphone jack. im going to have to find a suitable solution to using my sennheisers soon.

the battery life is good. it lasts me a full day but it needs that charge right when im going to bed. its gotten slightly worse. its probably because i switched to quad hd on the display. i think im going to switch back, might even go to the lowest setting. i have noticed it will lose like 10% percent in the time the lg stylo was losing 2% but then it holds well through out the day.

the colors have shown up and theyre cool. in the end it doesnt matter but i do like it. i place the phone face down when connected in my car and i catch a peak of the colors as im driving. theres no glare though so thats good. the phone actually fits well in the little cubby which the lg stylo didnt.

the camera punch out isnt an issue. i notice it but it doesnt bother me.

performance has been good. there are apps that have issues but they would have issues much more on the s8 or lg.

i think i might try drawing on it, we will see how that goes.

the fingerprint sensor has been slower with more use.

all in all i am enjoying it and im happy with the purchase.

i have one i ordered on amazon and when i tested it there was static. it had great reviews too. so finding a good one isnt a guarantee.

i was looking them up today and it looks like apple's is good and probably google too.

im considering getting this one which the article i found it at had listed at $28. now its $43.

maybe i should order the google one and if its no good i can order this one (hopefully it comes back down in price by then)

the other part is im debating finding a solution i can use with my phone and also my turntable but not sure if thats a worthwhile solution to search for.
304767, Ah, I see
Posted by chillinCHiEF, Wed Sep-11-19 09:23 PM
I've heard complaints of lightning to headphone plugs not being reliable as well.

All the more reason everyone should have just kept the headphone jack.
304769, yeah there really is no good reason to get rid of them
Posted by mista k5, Thu Sep-12-19 11:47 AM
originally i thought headphone jacks took up like 2 inches but they really are small and should stay on phones. maybe they bring them back once bluetooth headset sales stop growing.

i think im going to go with the one i posted since its actually supposed to improve the sound. i might wait until the price comes down.
304761, I'm pre-ordering the iPhone 11 this Friday.
Posted by chillinCHiEF, Wed Sep-11-19 02:19 PM

>no headphone jack?

My least favorite thing about the iPhone. I mean, I loved my AirPods before I lost em, but no reason to not have both.

>no expandable storage?

I haven't had expandable storage in years. Would be nice, but I'm used to not having it.

>notch/cutout/popup selfie cameras?

I don't really take selfies (or photos at all with phones) so I don't care much either way. The pop up ones look cool tho..they remind me of the headlights on my first car.

>folding phones??

They seem pretty cool. Hopefully they can get that tech working and at a more reasonable price. Something compact that can give you more screen space when you want/need would be great.

>how often are you replacing your phone?

Like every year or two. The longest I kept a phone was my iPhone 6S which I had for three years because I didn't want to give up my headphone jack. I eventually got over it and got the XS, now I'm getting the 11.

>are you loyal to a brand or os?

I'm pretty loyal to Apple because I'm heavily invested in their ecosystem. I've always wondered about getting a Pixel model as a second phone just to familiarize myself with Android tho. I've never actually owned an Android anything.

>how much are you willing to spend on a new phone?

Whatever it takes.

Seriously tho, once they made it so you just pay monthly it's easy to convince myself to get the top end models since I'm only adding a few bucks a month. The phone I'm pre-ordering on Friday will be $1,149.

If I were to get a secondary phone like I mentioned above I'd want it to be on the cheaper side of things. Maybe $300 or $400 max.
304765, its kind of wild that apple is cheaper than samsung
Posted by mista k5, Wed Sep-11-19 03:35 PM
it feels like they fooled samsung into over charging and are laughing at them now.

not to say $700 is cheap but i know apple, or their fanboys, would brag about it being the phone people with money buy.

was there anything about the new models that makes you really want to upgrade or you were upgrading no matter what?
304766, As long as they keep making em fastser, I'll keep buying em
Posted by chillinCHiEF, Wed Sep-11-19 08:27 PM
Since I use my phone daily, any boost in speed is always welcome and I don't mind paying a bit extra for a better screen.

>it feels like they fooled samsung into over charging and are
>laughing at them now.

I feel like nowadays there are almost as many people who swear by Samsung as swear by Apple, tbh. I definitely know people who wouldn't consider any other Android phone.

>was there anything about the new models that makes you really
>want to upgrade or you were upgrading no matter what?

I wouldn't say "no matter what", but considering I'm on their upgrade plan they would have to really shit the bed for me not to just get the new phone.
304768, Im proabbly skipping UNLESS

Unless the reviews are incredible.

I have the iPhone 8 Plus 256GB and I'm fine with it for now.

If the 11's camera SMOKES the 8 Plus - or if the iPhone 11 Pro camera is even better then I might jump. the night mode Google has is good - if iPhone can beat that then it's a maybe.

I will be getting the iPhone Series 5 because of the S5 processor - the watch needs to be faster - the S4 was close to fast enough, the S5 should be good.

(I'll sell my Series 4 for 250-320 - whatever I can get for it.)
304770, I think I’ll get the watch for my gf’s birthday

I’m still rocking the original Apple Watch but some days I use my old Casio because I don’t care too much.

i've been able to capture some dope concerts with my iPhone...
304817, I'm fine with a little bit of weight for extra battery life
Posted by chillinCHiEF, Thu Sep-19-19 09:06 PM
My issue was the phones getting bigger just for the screen size.
304832, no buttons? wrap around screen?
Posted by mista k5, Tue Sep-24-19 09:36 AM
i dont honestly get this one but cool tech i guess.

304834, That phone looks a fancy vape
Posted by handle, Wed Sep-25-19 10:52 AM
Reminds me of a cigarette ad or something.
304836, lol this looks so useless
Posted by wrecknoble, Thu Sep-26-19 04:24 PM
304837, it doesn't look any less useless than any other phone

304843, This wide angle camera on the 11 Pro is pretty cool.
Posted by chillinCHiEF, Thu Oct-03-19 05:18 PM
I’m not a take pictures with a phone kinda person because I love actual cameras and normally have one or two on me at all times, but I don’t own any lenses that give nearly as wide a field of view. Having it in my pocket is kind of amazing.
304845, I like Apple's take on that.
Posted by Dr Claw, Fri Oct-04-19 02:42 PM
I have the XR on the iPhone Upgrade Plan and thinking about moving to the 11. The XR was the GOAT iPhone battery. GOAT

and with the 11 they added an hour of life to it. and with the extra lens I can take portrait pictures of... "stuff" and not people. one of my favorite things to do with the 7 Plus.

only bummer is that they took out my favorite color but eh... this might be the move going on.

We got you.
304850, thoughts on pixel 4?
Posted by mista k5, Wed Oct-16-19 12:26 PM
any pixel users here? i always wanted to get a nexus...then pixel but whenever they would be announced i was mostly meh on them.

they do usually have a unique approach but theres too many compromises for my tastes.

304854, I think it makes the 3/3a look like an even better deal
Posted by Dr Claw, Thu Oct-24-19 10:32 AM
for what you pay, you get far less than you used to, and little more.
I do like its design, though
304910, I have a first gen XL 128gb.
Posted by Castro, Wed Nov-20-19 09:26 PM
It was super cheap off of ebay and the space...LOL. Its crazy to have the phone jammed up with apps, music, videos and still have 95GB free. This is an older phone, so it isn't blazing fast, but the screen is decent and the camera is fantastic.
304917, pixels are good for people who care *just* enough about phones.
Posted by will_5198, Wed Nov-27-19 11:23 PM
I bought a refurbished pixel 2 and it does everything I need it to, with a still very above-average camera. and it was $200.
304925, now THAT is a good price.

304946, I copped a 4XL and love it

But to be fair, I upgraded from a Pixel 1, so my perception is probably colored a bit by the huge leap there.
304864, Hmmm...

>have you guys heard of these things??? jk

>where do you guys stand on some of the (relatively) new
>changes we are seeing?
>
>no headphone jack?
>no expandable storage?
>notch/cutout/popup selfie cameras?
>folding phones??

All these new changes are trash and pointless. Android flagships receive two os updates usually shipped one os behind on purpose.

This means one os update before fulfilling their responsibility.

I want the industry to move away from traditional oled. Improve the tech or go back to lcd. It saves us $200 in some cases.

>
>how often are you replacing your phone?
>are you loyal to a brand or os?
>how much are you willing to spend on a new phone?

My pristine xz1 compact still works but I bought an s9 16 months later anyways. My max is $600. Anything about that is pointless for an Android device.
>

Im going back to buy old pixels. My pixel 2 is on the way for Xmas. Going to buy a new LG G6. Basically I'm sweeping old flagships for a fraction of the cost.

The Redmi Note 8 looks like a decent butmy if you pixel experience rom. Good phones with s675s are enough to save me from spending over $400.

If you don't care about updates get a Motorola. The upcoming one zoom has a 21:9 ratio.

Next year I refuse to buy a non Apple flagship without a headphone jack.

How are y'all dealing with two smartphone life? I keep grabbing the wrong device.

lol @ 2.
bruh. I've gone pure Bleeding Gums Murphy with the Faberge eggs.

I gotta sell the old V20 though. I hate having to do that but I can't use it on my carrier anymore.
304889, razr back!

not sure why the leaks were meh to me but seeing pictures of the actual device just make sense to me. the price doesnt. i think this has more chances for success than the samsung fold style.

if the price comes down on something like this i could see myself going for one in a couple of years. as long as any potential issues are ironed out by then.
304895, Looks beyond gorgeous
Posted by Numba_33, Mon Nov-18-19 10:31 AM
and Motorola deserves some props for creativity for re-inventing an old device in such fashion, but I'd be highly skeptical in purchasing that device fresh out the gate. The repeated folding action of the screen and the potential vulnerability of that hinge portion of the phone are glaring red flags to me, particularly for long term use.

Kudos to anyone here willing to splurge on the $1,500.00 price tag from the jump though.
304920, i would be skeptical buying 1st gen, even 2nd gen
Posted by mista k5, Mon Dec-02-19 03:52 PM
definitely looks more polished than samsungs entry.
304933, just copped a Samsung Note 10+
Posted by bwood, Sun Dec-15-19 06:28 PM
Was looking between this and the Pixel 4 XL and this shit won out.

Google needs to seriously step up their hardware game outside of the camera.
304938, how are you liking it?
Posted by mista k5, Mon Dec-16-19 11:51 AM
i adjusted to the size quickly.
304944, It's an upgrade from my DROID Turbo 2 that's for sure.
Posted by bwood, Thu Dec-19-19 08:18 AM
The screen size is fine for me too.

The shit is so fast and colors of the display are crazy.

All I know is I'm never getting another Motorola ever again.
