304578, To buy or not to buy...
Posted by SynsCei, Tue Jun-11-19 09:56 PM
I finally got a job and funds will be able to replace the PS4 I had to pawn to make rent.

Dilemma is, am I better off waiting for a PS5 (potentially marked at $600 but hopefully 4 or 5) but in 2020????

Or should I just get a basic PS4 for the time being. I miss my sports games, Fallout, and other Sony exclusives I can now get dirt cheap.

I stil game on my PC rig and enjoy, but those Sony exclusives..

*le sigh*

Any advice/feedback...?

ps5 will have backwards compatibility. you'll be able to get to those exclusives eventually. and they might look and better than they do on ps4! i would love to play bloodborne at a higher resolution and running at 60 fps and that might be possible on ps5

what's your rig like? you can get madden, fifa, 2k, etc. on pc, often at a discount

I just read about the backwards compatibility (even potentially going back to the PSX), so I think I'll just wait - especially if the price point will be in the $500 range.

My rig is a low/mid tier one I've had for a few years now:

- i5 6500
- GTX 950
- 16 GB RAM

I can run BF5 on high with 45 FPS or medium with 60 (same for GTA5). That's about as high-end as far as games go. Squad is a system hogger I gotta put everything at low just to get 60 fps. Still waiting for the Red Dead Redemption port to PC.

But lately, I've been playing games that have been out for a while or indie games that don't require a high-end rig.

304580, the PS5 is...potentially

That sale might still be going on, you could get a PS4 for less than $200.
It's a great stop gap until the new consoles drop. At least you're playing something.
304602, just get one
