I just hope an American makes SFV top 8, let alone winning the thing. Punk recently tweeted that he's burned out (https://twitter.com/PunkDaGod/status/1021501817220464643) although he'll still be there and has been practicing. Folks have more or less filled his spot on Team America with Justin Wong, but that's a believe-it-when-I-see-it for me because I think Justin is benefitting a lot from the newness and turtle style of Menat, and that advantage will disappear against world top players who know the matchup. I think the USA's best chance for top 8 is with Du, Smug, and Punk. I think I'll lay down my prediction as Smug being the only American to make top 8. He's hot right now after his tear through E-League, and I think it could be a benefit mentally that there's no chance of character confusion. And I actually think he's more disciplined and smart under pressure than Du (partially inherent with Balrog not having an invincible reversal).

Predictions? Hopes? Is anyone here into DBFZ, out of curiosity? I'm not, but it should be fun to watch this weekend.

The Japanese players have mastered Captain Ginyu. I almost never see him in matches. But Vegeta and Cell are top-tier...everyone has one of them on their team.

I did see someone get nasty with Majin Buu yesterday. That was crazy. Yipes and Majin Obama's commentary was hilarious.

On the SFV side, I haven't paid a whole lot of attention.

BlazBlue Cross Tag looks interesting. I haven't seen it played before.

He was so close. I thought he played the knockdowns pretty well to gain offense. Didn't strike me as greedy, but I was also caught up in the moment.

I'm glad we got one American in top 8. And Coolkid seems like a stand up guy from what I can tell. I'm very happy for him. I'm also happy for Caba. I'm actually hype for the top 8 as a whole. Problem X has been tearing ass for the last several months especially. It seems pretty wide open.

It's very accessible. Pretty easy to see how Marvel was kicked out for this.

Like, obviously Super Saiyan God Super Saiyin Goku should beat everyone in a fight (unless Jiren or Ultra Instict Goku are options) so the whole thing just seemed pointless.

In retrospect, I guess I watched MvC3l when in theory Phoenix or Shuma-Gorath should have beat everyone easily.

I know UMvC3 had timeouts in tournaments when it first released, but the pace of Dragon Ball seems labored for 3/5

All fighting games are silly for that reason. Lol. They all have characters that, on paper, should not the floor with other characters. I think that is part of the allure of fighting tournaments, because we see people master characters in new ways.

I don't even mess with Tekken but their trailers for new characters never disappoint

strictly for the commentary from Aris; dude is a laugh riot. Makes me wish I had some clue as to what it takes to play the game, but I don't have the time or patience to want to learn the game first hand. The dude is a gem on the microphone though.
