*disclaimer* - I am a current xbox 360 owner
I think if you polled actual gamers about what their worst fears coming into this press conference, the list of responses would read something like this:
- focusing on entertainment rather than games
- focusing on kinect
- always-on DRM
- no BC
- pay-to-play multiplayer
Basically, the answer to each of the above points was the wrong one. They led off the conference by talking about media features for half an hour. Most of the kinect features they showed were laughable - literally everything they showed SHOULD ALREADY BE POSSIBLE with the current kinect. In fact, Microsoft confirmed that they REMOVED from the 360 kinect the capability to turn on your console via voice command. Similar with smartglass - we can already do pretty much all of that shit on our 360s!
Very disappointing, IMO.
