271354, I was going to wait for the S3 but this is showing signs of everything I Posted by Poetic_Truth, Thu May-03-12 03:39 PM
want right now in a phone. and this $210 trade in credit I can get for my iPhone 4 is burning a whole in my pocket.

271358, It loses like a muthafucka to Samsung SIII just for storage alone Posted by mtbatol, Thu May-03-12 05:29 PM
No, fucking, competition.
I'm beyond baffled that this is going to war with the Sammy and Samsung learned from their own stupidity doing the same dumb shit with their Nexus by offering the best storage options outta any smartphone with that S3.
I could write out a 10 page rant on how fucking stupid it is to just have 16GB on board a non-Apple phone who's the only ones who can get away with that shit.
|
271359, 16 GB has served me well so far. Posted by Nopayne, Thu May-03-12 05:35 PM
We live in a streaming world. You don't need as much room for music/video as you used to.
|
271376, I guess the problem is I already spoiled myself to 32GB onboard.. Posted by mtbatol, Fri May-04-12 12:38 AM
...and have grown accustomed to it for the past year now to where I'm already past that. Anybody who already passed that point of onboard storage it's going to be a problem when the newest & greatest comes out with... half of that? As a fan of Google Music I'm all for the cloud, just not as my sole option past what I'm accustomed to when the cloud have it's obvious limitations.

271365, That was my biggest concern but they give u free 20 gbs with Dropbox Posted by Poetic_Truth, Thu May-03-12 06:29 PM
when u buy the phone. Other than storage, this phone is matching up with most of the rumored S3's specifications....and them Amoled screens aren't my cup of tea with Samsung. Ill take the LCD

271419, Ready to get my hands on this Sunday...I'm good with the storage. The design Posted by Poetic_Truth, Sat May-05-12 01:14 AM
won me over. I dont have the patience to wait til the s3 is out
|
271421, what won you over? the de...? Posted by osu_no_1, Sat May-05-12 06:46 AM

271423, Design. Polycarbonate is always cool. No scratches or dings to worry ab Posted by Poetic_Truth, Sat May-05-12 09:15 AM

271464, Just finished messing with this at AT&T Posted by Poetic_Truth, Mon May-07-12 01:09 PM
Prolly the best designed looking phone to date. The screen looks so good it's like everything is floating on top of it. Super light and feels good. The sense skin is nice

271480, ^^^ HTC is the best design house^^^ Posted by southphillyman, Mon May-07-12 09:06 PM
i wonder what (if any) differences there are between this and the Evo LTE
|
271522, Reading reviews around the web. Users are sayIng this is the standard android Posted by Poetic_Truth, Wed May-09-12 12:19 AM
to have right now....looks, experience and performance wise. Im just waiting til I pay my bill so I can use my upgrade and get this
|
271526, one looks good and the other looks like ass. Posted by osu_no_1, Wed May-09-12 05:17 AM
other than that, not much difference.
but really i think the att one x uses hspa+ and lte, and i'm not sure if sprint evo has the hspa+. both have the same radios and i think wimax is out for the evo this time, lte only.
i heard there are differences in the camera and audio processing but don't know what they are. the main difference is in the design.

271898, so did they have one available to buy or was it just the display model? Posted by osu_no_1, Fri May-25-12 04:27 AM
i might head to att or best buy to check it out this weekend
probably will at least wait until s3 is out to make a buy
|
271942, I bought it a few days ago. I'm using it now as I type this. Posted by Poetic_Truth, Sat May-26-12 04:36 AM
It's definitely a smooth phone and the display is nice. I'm coming from an iPhone so I'm still learning android so I couldn't give you an educated comparison compared to other phones. It's definitely worth the upgrade. Only complaints is the buttons on the phone are very concave so it's kinda hard to feel for the volume buttons and the lock button. I wish more develops would put buttons you have to reach for regularly on the side of the phone since ur naturally hold it on the sides instead having to reach up.
Storage really won't be an issue for me since I got the 25 gbs on dropbox for free.
|
271968, checked it out at att in the mall on saturday Posted by osu_no_1, Tue May-29-12 05:49 AM
wow, this phone is smooth. so thin, and what an incredible display! very high quality hardware.
i was a little turned off by the sense skin and thought it made the interface look too much like the old gingerbread sense in some ways.
but damn, the responsiveness on things like opening the play store or bringing up the camera was impressive.
i took about 8 pictures rapid-fire to see how it would respond and it didn't lag for any.
i was very close to buying it, but still have a week left on sprint and didn't want to bother with changing numbers around. but i was on vacation and now when i'm back home this week, best buy doesn't have any in stock.
i don't think the galaxy s3 is worth waiting for, this seems good enough for me if my local bb will carry it ($50 gc if i purchase from there).

272007, I dont really see any reason to wait for the s3...space shouldnt Posted by Poetic_Truth, Wed May-30-12 12:21 AM
be an issue with the 25 gbs ur getting...and HTC is staying up on updating any software issues. its the best high end android phone to go with right now.
and the design of this overall looks better than the s3

272088, My thoughts after having this phone for about a week Posted by Poetic_Truth, Fri Jun-01-12 03:18 PM
Beautiful display, design is prolly the best out there....but.....it has some fatal flaws....the battery life isnt good....if im doing light stuff (twitter, emailing, surfing web, a song here and there) the battery will drain from 100% to about 60% in about an hour & 1/2....did all i could: kill apps, turned screen on auto brightness....still no go...
the multitasking isnt good. the app-tray layout design on this phone is useless and cumbersome and doesnt really serve the purpose of being convenient...and with that, the huge deal breaker for me was that every app reloads itself when u go out of it and come back in. I was using my GPS the other day, had the place mapped out...got a text message and checked it...came back to the map and it reloaded itself and I lost my points....and had to key the location back in....who's ever design idea for this to "consume processor power" or whatever needs to be shot in the face and fired. thats a common sense move on the developers part...and for that im prolly returning this. still a beautiful phone tho. and no official bootloader for this phone is out...really dont care to do all of that anyway...i just want a good stock phone
|
272092, damn are you kidding? i was hoping for webos level multi tasking Posted by gusto, Fri Jun-01-12 11:58 PM
is this just like this in ONE X or ICS in general? Wouldnt think Matias would allow this. Damn, i was gonna cop the sprint equivalent since s3 cdma prolly wont be out for awhile. dammit.
|
272095, i never noticed this on my evo with ics roms Posted by osu_no_1, Sat Jun-02-12 07:22 AM
or on my transformer prime with stock ics
so maybe it's htc version, their sense skin
it had some weird shit when i messed with it, like how it responded when i hit the app switch button, maybe they're doing something weird with closing or half closing apps
i'm gonna buy it as soon as i can find one at best buy and mess with it
sense offers some nice features like contact linking, but if it pulls some bullshit with the multitasking, i'd be fine with loading stock ics, very smooth and cohesive
|
272099, Yea its the new sense skin they have that sucks. Posted by Poetic_Truth, Sat Jun-02-12 12:29 PM
If they could send out an update fixing these issues this phone would be perfect imo
|
272108, ok i just read this about the sprint variant. might as well cop now Posted by gusto, Sun Jun-03-12 02:11 AM
whew. ok, time to cop.
http://www.androidcentral.com/sprint-htc-evo-4g-lte-review
Good news for you folks worried about multitasking. Maybe. The EVO doesn't appear to dump apps from memory as harshly as we've experienced on the AT&T HTC One X. That is, if you start typing something in one app, switch to another and then switch back, you should find things as you left them. We say "should" because it's not necessarily the same for every application.
|
272413, Man this multitasking issue is a huge problem with this phone. Posted by Poetic_Truth, Sun Jun-10-12 10:46 PM
I'm still under my 30 day warranty so if the S3 is coming out on the 18th as slated then I'm trading this in for that. They really shot themselves in the foot by hindering this phone with this multitasking/battery life "resolution" as they call it....bad move htc/att.... Waste of a good phone
|
272509, i got it a few days ago and have 0 issues with multitasking Posted by osu_no_1, Tue Jun-12-12 06:23 AM
att signal is good enough here, so i'll keep them. big improvement over sprint.
so far i'm loving this phone. what are some tests i can do to see the multitasking issues?
|
272528, RE: i got it a few days ago and have 0 issues with multitasking Posted by gusto, Tue Jun-12-12 12:09 PM
i got this somewhere else
Try this: 1. Launch the stock notes app, compose a random note. 2. Tap the home button (or recent apps button), launch the camera app, take a few pictures. 3. Launch the email app, view an email. (Optional: also go view a webpage in the browser app) 4. Switch back to the notes app. What happens? Is it where you left off?
|
272534, it came back where i left off Posted by osu_no_1, Tue Jun-12-12 01:12 PM
I use chrome and not the stock browser but I used the stock notes and camera apps.
|
272556, It is a huge issue when im using the map..itll hold everything in cache Posted by Poetic_Truth, Tue Jun-12-12 06:39 PM
for about 30 seconds then after that it dumps the memory out to "preserve" space. So it'll reload everything and that's a huge problem for me. It does it with about everything I use. Say if I'm on a website and I'm entering some information and I have to answer a call... Go back to the Site and it'll erase all of my content.. Huge deal breaker for me
