which was a problem. I can usually drop two dudes if I'm hitting well before reloading the SVU, sometimes three if I luck up on a headshot, and the reload on that is quick as hell, anyway.

plus, like you said -- the VSS basically felt like an Engineer gun, except the clip was smaller and it was somehow worse at range, so if I was going to use it, I'd rather just go Engineer with rockets on my back and a proper SMG.

I'm using red dot on the SVU, too, not really shooting at range, but I like being able to pick someone off from a hidden position without having to move very much.
