221890, so the revenue comes from the ads just showing up?
Posted by Darryl_Licke, Tue Feb-09-10 10:12 PM
cause I saw no ads.

I saw TVs!!!!

TVs that you still aint talk about.

*points at line in sand*
221891, i'm not ever going to discuss tvs with you
Posted by Rjcc, Tue Feb-09-10 10:13 PM
why bother?

you don't like things like facts.

besides, unless you really are an idiot, all the tvs I've mentioned are in that list.

real talk.
221898, why would I? #1 it's rare that I would have enough information
Posted by Rjcc, Tue Feb-09-10 11:06 PM
to make a personalized recommendation

and #2 I wouldn't want to do it, because it's not my eyes that will be watching it. the only person who has to enjoy it is the buyer.

I might cop a cheap samsung plasma this year and come back for a 3D joint in 2011

221948, damn didn't know that. now that has me second guessing
Posted by Lach, Wed Feb-10-10 12:41 PM
They do have a nice Samsung 58 inch plasma at Costco for $1600.
224838, Wonder if there is a fix or how many people it effects
Posted by spenzalii, Mon Mar-08-10 03:38 PM
I've had my Panny for about 2 years and haven't noticed the black levels getting lighter. Then again I don't watch it 8 hours a day either.

While I'd be careful, I'd still get another one (and am debating it now)
221902, Nice
Posted by davs, Wed Feb-10-10 12:48 AM
I've been thinking of upgrading to something a bit heftier of late too.

Currently got a 37 inch Hitachi plasma. Wouldn't mind something approaching double that size......

223824, man I'm second guessing myself now cuz of the price of this Vizio
Posted by Lach, Sat Feb-27-10 11:09 PM
http://www.vizio.com/vf552xvt.html - it's like $1700 some places.

It's now between this and the Panasonic plasma. My current TV is a 52 inch Vizio and I love it so I've become a fan of Vizio. Their new LED tho has me wondering.
223832, whynot wait till the fall for the 3d joints? youain't missin
Posted by Rjcc, Sun Feb-28-10 02:08 AM

223956, vizio is dropping a 72in 3d joint for 3500 later this yr
Posted by RustyShank, Mon Mar-01-10 01:04 PM
supposedly
223957, damn. Knowing me I might cop that too
Posted by Lach, Mon Mar-01-10 01:13 PM
223958, and you figure even if they don't or that's not satisfactory
Posted by Rjcc, Mon Mar-01-10 01:23 PM
just look at the price of last year's samsung tvs now.

wait till next spring and you can definitely cop for the low

224745, Brandsmart was about to give me the Samsung 55B8000 for $1800
Posted by Lach, Sun Mar-07-10 09:19 PM
I almost bit. I'm trying to hold out now for the 3-D joint. Brandsmart be having serious deals these days. My boy bought that 55B8000 tho last week. The picture is nuts. The Samsung 55C7000 3-D is supposed to be coming tho and if I find a deal on that I may cop... unless my wife forces me to get a new fridge. She wants one of them expensive ass french door fridges with the freezer at the bottom. And the one she wants is like $2100. I'm like wtf.
224767, Yo, if anyone sees the Samsung 46B8500 for under 1.5
Posted by Whiteout, Mon Mar-08-10 02:13 AM
Let me know, 'cause that's the baby I want to adopt.
224833, it's so pretty isn't it...
Posted by Darryl_Licke, Mon Mar-08-10 03:25 PM
it's the basis for my arguments of LED vs Plasma with RJCC....

yes it's only one LED, it was a store displya, but it's still fuckin sexy as shit.
224836, It really is, in so many ways.
Posted by Whiteout, Mon Mar-08-10 03:35 PM
I've seen it hit that sweet point once on slickdeals, shoulda jumped then, cause the supply was so limited. But didn't have the cash at the time, and the creditcard I had woulda covered it, but killed me on the back end.

I really hope it hovers down that way again.
224837, it's pretty as shit. it's the same basically as the 8000 picturewise
Posted by Lach, Mon Mar-08-10 03:38 PM
That damn 8000 had my jaw drop even watching espn. It's a lovely ass tv.
224847, there is no argument
Posted by Rjcc, Mon Mar-08-10 04:33 PM
there's me with reason and information and you with stupidity and ignorance

www.engadgethd.com - the other stuff i'm looking at
223835, i was gonna mention the increasing black levels
Posted by xangeluvr, Sun Feb-28-10 02:49 AM
but it looks like rjcc already mentioned it. i mean what the hell is panasonic doing? i bought my panny plasma specifically because of the good black levels. luckily i did it before this crap about them increasing automatically, that is, i have an older model. anyway, many people buy panasonic for the same reason and instead they kinda get duped.
223852, Y'all got me embarrassed. I'm still rocking a 720p set.
Posted by muzuabo, Sun Feb-28-10 01:10 PM
223855, You're embarrassed? My HDTV doesn't support 720p/i
Posted by RustyShank, Sun Feb-28-10 02:19 PM
Only does 480i/p and 1080i and doesn't have HDMI ports. And the colors aren't aligned properly anymore (I've tried fixing this to no avail). It's a 60 inch rear projection panasonic and it's about time to put it out to pasture. I might wait until the 3DTV's drop before copping a flat panel.

Now taking donations for the "Gimme a decent TV" fund
223858, I was recently looking at TVs and settled on an LG 32" HDTV.
Posted by muzuabo, Sun Feb-28-10 02:44 PM
Overall, I'm pleased with it. Was a good option I feel with my budget. It costed 4 bills at Best Buy.
224768, I put about 5 small on a 32 Vizio with 1080p
Posted by Whiteout, Mon Mar-08-10 02:17 AM
couple years ago around the holidays, after my little westinghouse got stolen.

It's still rockin' steady.
223871, the colors had gone to shit on my crt too
Posted by Rjcc, Sun Feb-28-10 06:33 PM
and it had a problem with a fuse and wouldn't turn on half the time.

amazon had a 32 inch 1080p lg on gold box sale for 380 a couple weeks ago so I copped it for the time being.

I figure i'll get a 3d tv later this year

224800, what do yall think of that Motion Plus on the 120/240hz joints?
Posted by Lach, Mon Mar-08-10 10:52 AM
I didn't like it when I saw District 9 displayed on it in the store, but when I saw that running on Hancock bluray... that shit looked nuts.
224834, i have no idea if that's actual tech or just branding for the mhz
Posted by Darryl_Licke, Mon Mar-08-10 03:29 PM
224846, I have no idea why someone would want to use that.
Posted by Rjcc, Mon Mar-08-10 04:33 PM

224874, Never cared for LCDs with that shit
Posted by spenzalii, Mon Mar-08-10 10:45 PM
My buddy copped one of the Samsung ToC LCDs with that 120hz shit He was happy as hell. I was like a'ight son... and went home to a better picture on my 720p plasma

If you like it, fine. But I don't need anything shot on film, which shoul dlook like film, to look like live video (if that makes any sense)
225041, it does
Posted by Lach, Tue Mar-09-10 09:26 PM
>If you like it, fine. But I don't need anything shot on film,

225055, that blew my mind actually...watching transformers blu ray
Posted by Darryl_Licke, Tue Mar-09-10 11:07 PM
first off I thought I was watching theatre. Then megan fox showed up and I DIDN"T RECOGNIZE HER because it's that accurate. Like no airbrushing (unless that's possible in dvds).

Then. You can completely tell it's a movie set too.

Like I like how movies can be immersive but the samsung 8500 is some other shit entirely.

but it took some getting used to...if I even did get used to it.
224835, so I've been trying to hunt down plasmas to check them out...
Posted by Darryl_Licke, Mon Mar-08-10 03:32 PM
the stores aint got 'em anymore it seems.

sorry goose.
224839, best buy, brandsmart, and hhgregg here have a lot of them
Posted by Lach, Mon Mar-08-10 03:40 PM
Mainly Panasonics and Samsungs and an occasional Pioneer top end joint. I feel somewhat overwhelmed in the store that I'm not going to make the right purchase. But I'm leaning toward a new samsung 3-D joint.
224844, quit looking at wal-mart fool

225032, should move this question in here: HELP!
Posted by Drizzit, Tue Mar-09-10 07:55 PM
anyone ever heard of Media Markt or had dealings with them? a quick google search named them the Best Buy of Germany, which is comforting, i guess, but i am still a little afraid and here is why:

i am looking at Panasonic G10s right now because the 42" is in my price point -- $790 on Amazon with free shipping. after speaking with a friend who works in AV, he suggested to look around and see how much the extra 4" would cost me. if i could find a deal for $100 or so more for the 4", he said it would be worth it. so, in my search tonight, i find that Media Markt has the 46" version of the TV i was considering at $840. this has no tax add on and the shipping is free. not only that, i can pick FedEx or UPS Express for no charge.

great, right?

concerns:
- the website looks a bit chincy. it works fine and i have ordered dvd collections from worse site with good results, but this is a significant purchase for me, so i am nervous.
- the confirmation page doesn't fill me with confidence:
>>Prepayment Goods will be delivered after the Orderamount has been transferred to our account.
>>If all the information is correct, click on the Print button and fax us the receipt to (888) 508-2597. ATTN : Order Departament
i have never had to fax an order for proof of purchase, so that seems weird, not to mention the misspellings and weird grammar.
- this really does seem too good to be true.

who knows, maybe this is just warehouse they ship out of in the states?
225046, Too many red flags imo.
Posted by RustyShank, Tue Mar-09-10 10:08 PM
Not something i would suggest
225107, yeah. i am glad i put the brakes on and slept on it.
Posted by Drizzit, Wed Mar-10-10 08:57 AM
the price was tempting, but the site was wrong. all sorts of wrong. i will cop the 42" for good money and be just as happy.
225619, So for 3D TVs, we gotta buy $150 glasses????? cotdamn
Posted by Lach, Mon Mar-15-10 09:37 AM
http://www.pcworld.com/article/191126/samsungs_3d_glasses_fast_fitted_but_only_for_samsung_tvs.html
225663, you know pcworld are morons right?
Posted by Rjcc, Mon Mar-15-10 05:20 PM
and yeah samsung charges 150 for their glasses retail, but if you buy the player and the tv at the same time you get two pairs free plus monsters vs. aliens, expect a lot of packins like that at first. panasonic is doing a similar setup with best buy, selling it all as one.

they also charge 80 for a wifi dongle.

they like to jack the price on the accessories, and until there's 3rd party competition, they will.
225703, I'm gonna need a lot of pack-ins
Posted by Lach, Tue Mar-16-10 12:26 AM

I'm kinda anxious to get my hands on killzone 3 just for the 3D factor. I wanna see how that's going to unfold.
