Finally a reason to upgrade my 20D!

I agree..2k for a camera with 18mp packed on to that sensor..why bother..at that PP just cop a 5D MKI or if you really want the HD vid save up another 600 and get the MKII...or go the other way and get the rebel T1i for a third the price.

although the dual digic processor is interesting...

We should definitely get a Nikon/Cannon flame war going to add to the PS3/360 and Mac/PC ones tho. I can even switch sides if somebody can donate me a camera.

Anyway, this looks pretty neat, although having SD and CF support like the 300s has would be nicer and it seems kinda heavy. Why is the jawn heavier than the 5D MkII when it's APS-C?

I still don't really see why anyone would want to shoot video on a DSLR, either.

The 300's video was cool, but a friend of mine got one and wasn't THRILLED with it. And I have canon lenses.

Then the 5D Mark II came out and I nearly bought it. Then the T1i came out and got super cheap - but the 1080p video was only 20FPS and no external mic input.

But this one looks great. And having a camera with video and interchangeable lenses , aperture control and easy to use focal ring makes it very appealing.

I know the CMOS sensors produce shutter roll when panning fast, but I'll see if I can work around it by avoiding whip-pans.

I blew it. I left it in AI One Shot focus, and AV locked at 5.6 for about 90% of the photos. Shot in Jpeg because RAW is frankly,a pain. I blew it - but still got some okay shots.
Lens used: Canon 70-300 DO.

Since making that comment, I've become very neutral with the Nikon vs Canon stuff tho. I’m seriously debating a Mark 5 as my next camera, but at the same time I won’t be upgrading bodies (or lenses for that matter) for a little while. I want to learn how to take better pictures before I spend too much money on anything else.

for now the video specs for this are better than the 5dmkII

until the firmware update shows up next year for the 5d
7d shoots video more frames per second than the 5D
etc.
do your research folks. 7d is really for the video heads more so than 5d. 5d you get if you want full frame still shootign as well
