****I know this is a long post, but please read it over so you understand everything so I don't have to repeat things and so you guys can comment or think of things I may have missed*******

The rules/guidelines for the franchise. The online franchise does not have a salary cap or contract length, therefore I need to implement some rules in order to 1) ensure that the picking up of free agents is fair 2) To ensure that there is actually some movement of players in the off-season

So here we go:

1) Free agency pick-ups will be based on waiver claims that are submitted to me for each NFL week. The waiver priority will be based on the team’s current standing (for week 1, the waiver ranking will be based on the team’s overall ranking). PICKING UP PLAYERS WITHOUT CONSENT IS GROUNDS FOR REMOVAL.

2) Free agent pick-ups will be capped at 1 per NFL week, unless a team suffers excessive injuries as to where picking up more players is required.

3) For the off-season, each team will be required to drop 3 players with a rating of 70+ in order replenish the free agency pool and ensure some player movement. For computer controlled teams, I’ll go through and do my best to release the appropriate players. There will then be a free agency draft to see where these players end up.

4) Trade approval will be as follows: I will post the pending deal under the TRADES section of the Franchise post and other players will be given 48 hours to disapprove. If someone does disapprove, they must give their reasoning as to why. Then, if the reasoning is deemed valid, there will be a vote (not including the trade participants obviously) where 2/3 majority is needed for the trade to go through.

5) Style of play. My aim is to have the games played like a straight NFL game, but with some reasonable flexibility depending on the situation.

6) List any complaints, particularly if you feel a player is cheesing or using glitches, under the COMPLAINTS section of the franchise post. I will do my best to address any problems, and know this, I highly highly highly dislike cheesers and glitchers. I was part of the inaugural SS (straight simulation) League on the ps2 madden, so I have been fighting against these fuckers for years.

7) Schedule: The plan is to play 2 games every week. I will be finalizing and advancing each NFL schedule week on Wednesday Night and Sunday Night. If you do not play, you WILL be dropped. I will do my best to accommodate extenuating circumstances.

8) Settings: The league will be played on All-Pro, with 5 minutes quarters without any accelerated clock.

That’s all I can think of for now….if you have any questions, let me know. I’m always open to modifying the rules or adding an addendum if something comes up during the season.

I will not send out actual league invites online until the team selection is final. At that point, I will inbox the league name and password to the participants.

in a 5 minute game, a team averages about 40 plays a game, in real life, teams average around 60, 6 or 7 minutes would allow you to do that. If someone's defense stinks then they're supposed to give up 30 pts a game.

The all-madden setting vs the comp controlled teams can be on some serious serious bs.... That's my main concern.

that shit is almost impossible against the comp. I played with the Packers against the bears and threw 6 picks. It seemed like whereever I threw a bear appeared out of nowhere. It sucked!

Otherwise, do not complain to me if the player you wanted gets claimed by a worse team and then you don't get your next waiver claim in by the deadline for that week.

1) Because everyone is not signed up, I've decided that the league will start on Wednesday(9/2), and the deadline will be Sunday, 8 pst. If everyone gets their games in before then, I will advance the week. From then on, the deadlines will be as stated in the original post....Wed and Sunday night, 8 PST.

2) In that same regard, franchise news will be posted on here until everyone is signed up and knows how to access the league website on easports.com.

3) Free agency additions going into week 1 will be made on Tuesday Night(tomm!), after 8 PST. I will post the pick-ups at that time.....if you haven't given me your list, please do so ASAP or you will miss out on the chance to acquire someone in this 'pre-season' free-agency period.

Your qb's are gonna have a pretty brutal season when it comes to staying healthy. Any kind of outside pressure is going to leave them open to huge shots, esp from secondary blitzes.

I haven't played Madden in awhile. It's hard to stay in the pocket when the pocket keeps collapsing :) What can I do to stop throwing so many damn picks? It seems whereever I throw it gets picked off. Not just against you...against the comp too

From what I saw, you have some serious issues throwing the ball because: 1) you back up too much which allows for any outside pressure to nail you 2) you aren't reading the defenses at all....you have to recognize lb blitzes right away, know if it's a zone or man coverage and know what works against it. 3) Understand where pressure might be coming from and make sure you have enough blockers for each blitzer or have a route that is your blitz-read. You burn a player a couple times on quick blitz reads and best believe they are going to back off...which makes it easier for you to run the ball as well. 4) ANTICIPATE....get a feel for what I've been doing all game and be one step ahead.

If I were you, I'd go into practice mode, have the computer run cover 2's and cover 3's(which are the primary zone sets that most players utilize on defense).....look at the safeties to recognize what kind of zone it is. Cover 2 will have 2 safeties dropping straight back, and you can tell it's a zone(vs say a 2 man under, straight up man lock, which also has two safeties over the top) by either seeing if a lb is chasing after your fb or rb out of the backfield(meaning he has man-man responsiblity for him) or you can use motion before the snap to see if the corner follows his man across to the other side of the field(if not, it's a zone). In Cover 3, you will see one of the safeties drop back to the middle of the field(the other drops down to the 5-10 yard range) and both of the widest corners will drop all the way back to his same level(thus the Cover 3, there are 3 players playing over the top) as well.

This is a good way to get used to reading coverages....once you get used to what the defense is trying to do on the base zones....choose what formation you want the defense to run, hit a, and then close your eyes and randomly select a defensive play so you can actually simulate reading a defense within a game.

Lastly.....have the defense run some blitzes and see how much time you have to throw the ball. Try using o-line adjustments or having your fb or rb block and see what happens. A lot of players(and I feel you are one of them with how far you drop back), are kind of scared of being in the pocket because they aren't sure of how much time they will have to throw.....use practice to get comfortable, and realize that you have more time to throw the ball, on average, than you might think. I have this same problem and Ive really been trying to work on being more patient.

So those are my pointers lol.

I moved the Rams, 2x. The team uniforms STAY as the default set up. That god awful yellow and tan/gold shit. No matter how you customize your team, they come out with those uniforms.

So, for me, there is no point in moving a franchise which was one of my favorite parts of franchise mode.

Once the week 2 games are finished,\ I will post under the week 2, year 1 section who gets who.

that there was basically no 'off-season' free agency pick-up like I had intended(because originally I thought the season would start on Wed and those who gave me FA claims would get their FA before week 1 even started).

Therefore, the week 1 free agents were mostly picked up AFTER the week 1 games were already played.....and so the same will happen for this week and for every week from here on out for this season.

i'm bout to get on and try to find some plays I'm comfortable with.

it seems like when I call a strech or an outside run play, one or two dudes are waiting on me. When I run up the gut, its a 2-3 yd gain. Occasionaly I'll break into the 2nd level and i'll get 10-15yds, but that's once a game.

i'm using slide protection, i'm running draws, i'm following my blocks(as best I can). But i'm gonna keep working at it. Mark my words Steve Slaton will be a 1000yd back THIS SEASON*.

Hester's return to start the game was huge for me because I wasn't at all looking forward to driving on that Steelers defense lol.

That GL pick was huge for me....I was lucky urlacher made that huge stop on first down and then you got into some trouble with that toss which setup that third down pass. It went from 7-7 with you getting the ball at the half to me taking the ball down the field for a huge drive which took off like 5+ minutes too. How the fuck did Miller make that catch on third down though? In between lb and safety, got nailed in the fuck air and holds on? Cotdamn, i was pissed off lol.

The end of the half...I'm not exactly sure what you were doing there fam lol. You basically gave me 10 points in a minute and a half by forcing those throws. That pretty much sealed the deal.

2nd half....I liked your patience in the pocket in the 4th quarter. Good read to Parker on the sideline(vs Cover 2) and then great read and throw to Santana(I was pissed off bc it was the first points I had given up so far lol).

I was honestly just trying to run the clock out(I can't sim games in the middle) after I went up 31-0 in the third....good reads against my D in that 4th though.

That stupid ass pick I threw to Ryan Clark....I knew you only had one safety over the top, I fucking KNEW if I just wait another second or two, Olson is going to get across the face of the safety for 6...knowing all that, I still decided to get rid of the ball. I felt some ghost pressure from your d and threw it up....fucking stupid.

GG though....that run D is no cotdamn joke. Forte couldnt do a cotdman thing, and the fumbles....good use of the hit stick.

You kept me off balance with that defense. Those early turnovers were costly. My defense caused some great turnovers but the offense just gave it right back man. The kickoff return and that pick six put me in too deep of a hole. When we finally caught a rhythm it was too late. We'll bounce back though. Still adjusting to the Steelers personnel. Your D is the standard though. You mix your blitzes with your coverage very well.

i always get TD returns on those. Willams got injured like 5 times in that game. that shit was bullshit.

After that long as run with Turner, i dove on the 2 yard line in order to milk the clock, but was only to get like 40 seconds off of it. I figured you wouldve scored easily cuz i couldnt stop you at all and then the pick was thrown. Ouch

Some teams are in divisions where they are the only USER team, which means they'll be playing the CPU more than they'll be playing a real person. And some divisions are all USER teams, such as the NFC East (I believe), which limits the amount of games are played against the CPU. After picking the computer off 5 times in my game last night, I think we maybe should have played on All-Madden to kind of balance things out a bit. IMO a USER team is harder to beat than a CPU team. Just my thoughts...

It's not that easy to beat the good all-pro teams consistenly when you have a low ranked squad.

However, if I start seein consistent blowouts of the comp, I'll prob switch it to all madden like you suggested.

True dat..I hear what you're saying, but I mean for the majority of that game I was just picking plays, airing it out, etc. and such and it shouldn't have even been as close as it was. It could have easily been 49-14.

It just made me realize that it would be a hell of a lot easier for someone to ridiculously pad their stats by playing CPU controlled teams. I practically bullshitted that whole game and thew for almost 200 yards a piece with BOTH QBs.

I like havin' games against user teams in my division, but I would have picked the Chargers if I realized they were available.

just gotta grind it out man one play at a time. you're always one fumble/interception/punt or kickoff return away from getting back in it. case in point i had PLENTY of chances against SoCalBrar because even though i gave up two early TD's i was causing turnovers just couldn't capitalize on them. gotta take advantage of turnovers man

All you have to do is to go player management on the franchise section, and change it to free agents. See the top 5-6 players you want and send me your claim list every week asap.
