I have a 20 GB hard drive from the launch system and have never had less then 10 GB free.

I mean, its cool and all, but the sound isnt an issue to me (i always play with the speakers fairly loud) and the insane HD space the games require is a bit much imo.

because it's linked with the email account you sign up with and I used my hotmail. I had to create another account, Swedish, to purchase stuff and there is a BIG difference on that one.

So I got in on the third wave of the preview program. Poking around there are a few options for HDMI output. Auto,Source,RGB, YCbCr709, and YCbCr601. How does one know the best option. Playing Mirrors Edge, a very colorful game, with it set to RGB (the NXE default)and I think that may be the way to go for me.

Way it works is this...you sync your xbox to your netflix. From that point on, if you add something in your 'Watch Instantly' netflix queue, and it is available to be watched on Xbox, it will automatically show up like a virtual dvd collection when you sign into the netflix application on xbox.

The selection isn't the greatest. The 'instant watch' feature Netflix has didn't cover all of what they offered, and the xbox version even less. But it's still hundreds of video's to chose for, and they cover a wide variety of bases.

For example out of the 30 or so I have queued up: Ive got the first season of Heroes, Office, and 30 Rock queued up, the heavily underrated classic 'They Live', vampire movie '30 Days of Night' and arthouse fav of last year The Diving Bell and the Butterfly'. If they keep it updated with a few new releases a week, but enough not to stample on Microsoft's download service it could be great.

Netflix Speaks Out On Sony Movies Disappearing From Xbox 360 Service — It’s Not A Glitch

A week ago, I started watching “An Evening With Kevin Smith 2″ through the Netflix streaming service on my Xbox 360 but didn’t finish. Now, I can’t watch the rest.

Joystiq broke word this evening that Netflix stopped Xbox 360 users from streaming movies distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment.

This restriction only applies to Xbox 360 users. PC, Mac and other Netflix-enabled on-demand devices can still stream Sony Pictures Entertainment films, and is not a glitch.

“In the case of Xbox 360, a few hundred titles are temporarily unavailable to be streamed via the Xbox game console,” Netflix VP of corporate communications Steve Swasey told MTV Multiplayer in an e-mailed statement tonight. “Those titles are still available to be watched on subscribers’ computers and on TVs via other partner devices, and we hope they’ll be licensed for Xbox 360 shortly.”

When asked if the license just coincidentally expired as Microsoft was adding Netflix support or Sony Pictures Entertainment specifically requested Xbox 360 streaming to be disabled, Swasey wouldn’t say.

“As watching instantly becomes a more prominent part of the Netflix service, our goal is to have all of our streaming content licensed for all of our partner devices,” he said. “We’re doing well in this area, but it will take some time before we fully achieve that goal. Today, titles regularly come in and out of license and there is a natural ebb and flow to what we have on license at any given point in time.”

For now, however, Sony Pictures Entertainment films available for streaming through Netflix — including “Superbad,” “We Own The Night” and others — will remain blocked on Xbox 360, until Sony says otherwise.

i'm on wireless and the quality is fantastic. at least as good (probably a little better) than streaming AVIs from my computer.

it only takes about 15-20 seconds for the movie to show up on your xbox after adding it to your queue via the website. easy setup, too.

this might finally be a reason for me to stop pirating movies.

if they get their list of movies a little better, it would be officially official.

I'm at work now trying to figure out why I couldnt get Netflix to work.

the 360 is a distant 50ft from me. I can take smoke (cough: 360) breaks during the day. Plus I can turn the sounds up on my system to hear the "ping" when someone IM's me.

My company pays my phone bills and internet bill. I sometimes am on the road visiting locations but 90% of the time I'm in the house so I can reach for the 360 even while I'm on conference calls walking around the crib.

i called netflix cuz they cancelled my subscription two months ago so i thought i would have trouble puttin it back on since i still have their dvd. tried the site just for the hell of it and was back in in less then 2 minutes. i think it's a decent selection. i haven't watched a lot of these movies. i just wish u could queue it up straight from the xbox. The quality tho is top notch and i haven't even fucked with the HD yet. i came in skeptical but shit...i can't believe microsoft didn't fuck this up.

I tried watching the movie Flawless in HD right now and it reverted to SD I think cuz I'm only at 6mbps. I need FIOS like right now. I'm like a kid in a candy store with this netflix on 360. My kids are watching Charlie Brown lol.

how can you tell if it's a movie in HD? i mean before you're playing it on your xbox. i don't know my connection speed but flawless looks dope as hell. i can see the dirt on o dude's knuckles.

they say that the streaming service checks your connection speed when you choose the HD movie and if you don't have great bandwith it's going to reduce the picture quality in order for you to view it. But I'm not sure how to determine whether or not the movie is playing in HD but from what I can see on my TV Flawless definitely wasn't playing for me in HD. It looked like an avi file off my computer lol. I'm gonna try Heroes season 2 in HD as soon as the kids get of my system watching Charlie Brown Valentine.

i jus don't know which movies in the queue are hd. i guess i'll just keep flossing flawless and heroes when i have friends come over haha.

I just restarted the machine, but I was a little disoriented because I never got the "tutorial" or whatever.

I'm much more impressed with the upgrade than I expected to be. The avatars aren't quite as cheesy as I thought. I'm liking the premium themes. (Had to get the Castle Crashers one just cuz.) And group chat outside of the gaming channel... finally!

Netflix just takes it two steps further. I never bothered getting a Netflix account until now. Nine bucks a month well spent.

I noticed some of the more recent ones were upgraded to premium, but in general they're regular themes. I never paid for themes before now though, so I didn't give it much thought. But I'd be a little irritated by that as well.

for example, i put in akira on my instant queue yesterday. then today when i went to my instant queue under notes it says "untill december 1, 2008" and rushmore has "untill november 23, 2008". i have 20 plus movies in the queue and these are the only ones that have a date. anyone know why?

I would think doing this from my 360 is more of a pain in the ass. I can sit at my PC at work and add shit to my netflix Q all day. When I get home, my 360 is set.

Hell, even the whole queue method of selecting stuff seems dumb outside of having a list of things that will be mailed to you.

Why not just have it set up like the video marketplace where you get a selection of titles you can view and just watch them that way?

It just seems like an extra step thrown in there for no good reason. No, it isn't the biggest setback in the world, but it's pretty dumb when I can browse the iTunes library and download things straight to my phone but I can't browse the Netflix library and watch things from my 360 without interacting with my computer first.

The browser was the first thing that came to mind, but really, that shit should just be like you pick what you wanna watch from the list and watch it.

A lot of it ends up being redundant if you have On Demand or a DVR, but they still have a nice little chunk of content. That combined with the rental service is a pretty cool deal for only $10 a month.

The list makes sense when it's a list of movies that are going to be shipped to your home...not so much when it's stuff you can watch instantly. Having a favorites list for stuff you want to come back to eventually is cool, but why should I only be able to watch movies that are on that little list?

Why not just have a big list of movies, selectable from the 360, that you can watch?

What's the point of having me go through the extra step of adding them to some arbitrary list? They clearly have the capability to set it up like that since you can download games and even watch movies from Microsoft's own collection like that.

Hell, there doesn't even seem to be a way to just search through watch instantly movies on the Netflix site.

I'm not saying the whole thing is bunk, but that seems kinda silly, y'know?

Perhaps they can do a little better and have a 'You also might like:' list.

But really, like all non-computer browsers, there's no way to replicate the simple elegance of web browsing, even for something like netflix. I can see 20 movies on screen simultaniously, and easily move my mouse over each one for a full synopsis, in like less then one second. Never going to happen on a console, lol.

I prefer it all showing up as a virtual dvd collection you can shift through *shrug*. I understand why can't you have both, but overall it would be pretty shitty, nobody's mastered an elegant outside of comptuer web browsing experience.

and then go through it on the 360. I've got more than 80 in my queue right now with no prob, so I don't see it as an issue.

even if the 360 can handle directly browsing netflix's whole library, they're probably not assuming all devices always will be able to, and just want the interface to be consistent.

There is a way to search through JUST the watch instantly movies on the site. There's a watch instantly tab on the home page. On top of that, there's a seperate Watch Instantly queue on the site too. And if one of the movies that is in your mail queue becomes available on watch intantly, it'll pop in your queue.

It's pretty simple and easy, and I don't disagree with all of what he's saying, but like an earlier poster said, Netflix probably wants everything to be constant on all streaming devices, so nothing xbox specific is gonna be built in at the moment. And it's ultimately easier to do it on pc.

Sure it would be great to browse from the couch instead of booting up the pc, but it's not here yet. maybe it's coming. maybe it's not. I don't disagree, but a lot of what you were asking for is on the site and pretty easy to find. Once you get it set, you're straight for what it is at this point.

I also don't see any reason why they're releasing one Virtual Console game a week; just put the whole damn library online and stop fucking around. Speaking of VC, I also don't see why I can't play games from flash memory or a usb hard drive. Nobody is trying to steal the fucking roms since they're so easy to find online anyway, so why make me delete games off the system to free up space?

The only reason it seems like I don't hate on them more is because they just happen to be the best developer ever and have made the best game of this generation so far with Twilight Princess.

It’s cool, but it could be better. That’s all. Definitely worth it for $9 bucks like I said to the poster above, but it could certainly be better.

I have windows xp on my laptop with no immediate plans to move to vista.

when I attempt to connect my laptop to xbox 360 (using the xbox 360 networking wizard), it prompts me to enter a code in windows media center. I have windows media player for XP. Went to microsoft.com & could not find a free download for windows media center for XP.

do i need to purchase it? is there a work around?

bottom line - I'm tired of wiring my laptop to my tv. If I could connect to my tv via wireless connection I'd be so so happy.

Your PC and 360 will recognize each other over a wireless network.

to stream video to the 360. do what the post said above.

however, you probably already have WMP, you just didn't know and went to the wrong place.

If you have a Windows Media enabled PC they have that option, but there is an option in Windows Media Player 11. Go to options, then library. Click the configure sharing, click the share my media. If your 360 is on your network, wireless or wired it will show up as an option on this screen, choose it, click ok and close out. On the 360 dash under videos or music select the change folder option and pick your PC, tada.

About a week after they abruptly removed their entire Netflix library from streaming to the 360, Sony's Columbia Pictures has decided to allow NXE Netflix streaming of most of their content. Thank goodness, because most Netflix subscribing fanboys already had pitchforks in hand and their retaliatory plan of action laid out.

We can confirm that almost all of the Columbia Pictures Netflix content can now be streamed to the 360, but a few movies (including Superbad) are still being blocked. Hopefully the remaining content's licensing deals will get dealt with and all streaming media will be available in the next week or so. Fingers crossed.

I still think it's better than the blades though.

but im blind so things are easier to see with the new interface. with the pictures and stuff it's a lot more clear.
