and that music is a step in the right direction. The perfect backdrop for a good platformer.

Have to agree here. Maybe it'll be executed better, but the idea just sounds kinda bad.
All things considered, it can't be any worse than some of the crap that has passed for a console Sonic game since the Dreamcast.
