148805, probably about the same in terms of display quality Posted by Nopayne, Thu May-01-08 04:41 PM
I think they all get their panels from the same place anyway.

you'll just be paying extra for the Apple prettiness.

148807, Dell is cheaper, brighter, better. Posted by Triptych, Thu May-01-08 04:50 PM
And portable.
Mac monitors can only be configured via software, so if you ever want to use your cinema display on a PC you won't be able to adjust it.

148839, samsung >>>>>>> dell monitors imho. /nm/ Posted by jetblack, Thu May-01-08 07:42 PM

148870, gonna have to disagree with you here Posted by Nopayne, Thu May-01-08 09:54 PM
I've had two Dells and a Samsung and both Dells were way better. The colors on the Samsung seemed really uneven to me. Like I could drag a window from the bottom of my screen to the top and the colors would actually change. wtf?
On the other hand, this new Dell has two dead pixels which is kind of lame in it's own regard.

148904, i got a samsung 22" and its pretty solid Posted by aswahdan, Fri May-02-08 02:42 AM
the only thing i can see is slight bleeding on the edges. but thats only when my screen is all black like at boot up or somthin.

148817, depends if you're getting a Mac or PC Posted by jrocc, Thu May-01-08 05:26 PM
Mac monitor for a PC - it'll work, but there's extra junk you gotta buy (video card, cables, etc) usually. so unless you already have everything needed to make it work, gotta think about the extra cost involved. but it will work.

148838, huh? Posted by jetblack, Thu May-01-08 07:37 PM
wtf

148872, Apple monitors don't require those extras Posted by Nopayne, Thu May-01-08 09:55 PM
only shitty PCs need things like DVI cables and video cards. Even a mini can transmit it's video via bluetooth. DUH!

148911, i thought the dells were having some problems... Posted by rocket, Fri May-02-08 07:16 AM
yeah i just looked it up on engadget. http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/12/sales-cease-on-dell-3008wfp-30-incher-due-to-technical-issue/
i remembered reading they were having some sort of problem, might want to make sure they're ok now before you take the plunge. but yeah apple displays (as with everything else apple) are nice, but waaaay overpriced.

149252, I've got a 30" Apple display Posted by MrMajor, Mon May-05-08 02:21 PM
And a 22" Dell. I'd say go with the Dell, it'll be cheaper and probably look a little sharper.
