I wonder how many teams they are gonna have in all?
I assume that good but not godly folks like Rich Gannon will have to be on the scene to fill out the teams, so I'm interested to see if they will at least try to have the teams be balanced instead of having one squad basically be All-Time Cowboys and another be All-Time 49ers. That could potentially make every game Tecmo Bowl 1, aka the race to selecting the best team or two (was it Chicago or New York? Folks argue about that all the time).

the franchise has always been my favorite part. Maybe they know something that I dont know, but i look forward to improving my players season after season that i'm still leaning towards madden. I was fully prepared to make the switch until i heard about the franchise.

lol @ the missed field goal. and i hoped they would either get rid of or retool that weird tackle animation (in the video when barry sanders gets tackled) but they didn't. i hate how it doesn't properly display the transfer of momentum. it just looks wrong to me /nitpick
the stadiums and the sidelines are really well done. kudos to the devs for adding ai to them. that will do a lot to up the immersion factor. the player models look ok. i'll have to reserve judgment until i see them in hi-def. they seem to animate well, too
i'm still not entirely sold on the ability icons system. i think a lot of players will end up having identical 'base' stats (speed, acceleration, strength, etc) because the system won't create enough variances in those stats. i'm worried that it will end up being a rock-paper-scissors thing with a lot of wr's and cb's having identical speed or large differences in their speed. this is all wild speculation btw. i haven't seen ALL of the ability icons and i have no idea what the devs have truly done by replacing the number system so i can't judge yet. maybe they have 10 different ability icons for speed (but wouldn't that be pretty much the same thing as the numbers system, only in tenths instead of hundredths?). also maybe they're factoring in height/weight in addition to the ability icons. like a taller, thinner player with the top-tier speed icon will be faster than a shorter and heavier player with the same icon. then again it's entirely possible that i'm completely missing the point of the new system

in real life, when you have similar matched players, it usually ends up being a matter of luck. Or positioning. I think positioning along with stats will be the factor. And besides, in the older games and Madden games, the percentage system worked the same way when you had identically skilled opponents.

anyway, not gonna spring for next-gen Madden either (animations still look way too choppy and prolly the same broken gameplay). I might buy Madden '07 for PS2 out of boredom when it hits 15 bucks or whatever.

I wanted Call of J, even copped a game I had out, and it still says "low availablity"...it's been saying that since it came out. Went straight from Coming Soon to L/A. Same with Overlord.

i tend to queue up games as soon as they hit the site even if they're not due to be released in a number of months and i generally get games shipped on the day of their relase. i've had apf2k8 in my queue for almost 2 months and it just shipped
