i don't know how far fetched this is, but i'm desperate so what the hell.

my school announced 2 weeks before school starts that the required computer is an IBM/Lenovo t-60 Thinkpad. I wanted to buy a Vaio and call it a day but I'm not sure if I can get anything comparable.

I can make it within my price range if need be, but I don't want to pay that much right now.

Am I paying for the name or is there something comparable and cheaper out there?

the only reason it's "required" is because the tech guys are trained to install the software for the school on these and fix them.

if i opt to get another computer i'd be on my own, i guess.

any suggestions would be appreciated.
