"YES, WE DID!!!"
Tue Nov-04-08 11:53 PM by Nettrice

a grassroots movement is one driven by the constituents of a community. it is an activist term. many volunteers in the community give their time to support a national party which can lead to significant voter registration for a political party, which in turn helps the state and national parties.

what we have seen today is an example of activism which led to this:

Barack Obama to be America's first Black president.

Americans tonight placed their faith in Barack Obama, who made history by becoming the first African-American to win the US presidency.

Scenes of jubilation broke out among Democratic supporters as the US TV networks just after 11.00pm (ET:4.00 GMT) declared that the inexperienced but inspirational Democratic candidate had won, after a momentous day that saw voters turn out in huge numbers.

Victory in the end came as easily as the polls had predicted. With key states falling his way, Obama's achievement was comparable to the transformational victories of Roosevelt in 1932 and Reagan in 1980.

John McCain brought the momentous presidential election campaign to an end when he phoned Obama to concede the White House race.

Obama, accompanied to the podium in his home town of Chicago by his wife Michelle and his two daughters, alluded to the historic nature of his victory.

He said: "If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer."

He added: "It's been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America."

He praised McCain as a "brave and selfless leader" and also began preparing America for tough economic conditions he will inherit.

Picking up a refrain from his campaign, Obama described America as a sum greater than its parts.

"We have never been a collection of individuals, a collection of red states and blue states," Obama said. "We are and will always the be the United States of America.

"Because of what we did on this day, change has come to America."

In an allusion to the enormous challenges that face a new administration, Obama said: "The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America, I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there."

For those abroad, Obama said "a new dawn of American leadership is at hand" and for America's enemies he said: "To those who will seek to tear the world down, we will defeat you."

Obama spoke moments after John McCain made a gracious concession speech in front of his supporters in Phoenix, Arizona, said: "We have come to the end of a long journey. The American people have spoken and they have spoken clearly."

He said America had come a long way from the racial injustices that were a stain on the country's history. He called for the country to unite behind Obama.

Paying tribute to his young Democratic rival, the veteran Republican said Obama's victory "commands my respect". He said he deeply admired and commended Obama for winning a "historic election".

The scale of Obama's victory exceeded Democratic expectations, as Obama was projected to win 338 electoral votes to McCain's 129.
Obama's successes in the White House race were matched by Democratic wins in Congressional seats. The backlash against Bush provided the Democrats with one of their most satisfying wins of the night, ousting the veteran Republican Elizabeth Dole.

In an early blow to John McCain's hopes, US television networks projected that Obama would win Pennsylvania, where the Republican badly needed to win to stand a chance of capturing the White House.

In another big setback for McCain, the Fox News network projected that Obama would win Ohio, the state that ultimately decided the 2004 race between George Bush and John Kerry.

No Republican has won the White House without Ohio. With Ohio and Pennsylvania in his pocket, Obama would be well on his way towards an overall majority.

Piling on the humiliation for the Republicans, Obama was projected to win Virginia by Fox News, the first time the state has voted for a Democrat in a presidential race since 1964, when Lyndon Johnson took the state.

Obama was projected to hold on to all the states the Democrats took in 2004, and win half a dozen or more of the battleground states that had been held by the Republicans.

The Democrat was also projected to win New Hampshire, Connecticut, Delaware, Washington DC, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts and New Jersey.

McCain was projected to win Oklahoma, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia and South Carolina.

Fears that many white voters would fail, in the privacy of the polling booth, to vote for a black candidate appeared to be unfounded, suggesting that race is becoming less of an issue in the US.

Americans voted in record numbers throughout the day as they finally got the chance to turn their backs on George Bush's disastrous presidency and choose a new president after America's longest and costliest election campaign.

From the eastern shores of Virginia, across the industrial heartland of Ohio, and on to the Rocky mountain states of Colorado and New Mexico and beyond, poll workers and voters reported long lines and waits of several hours in the most eagerly anticipated US election for half a century.

Turnout was at levels not seen since women were first given the vote in 1920. Election officials predicted turnout would come close to 90% in Virginia and Colorado, and 80% in Ohio and Missouri.

Exit polls gave Obama double-digit leads in states that had been bitterly contested, and on which the outcome depended. The odds had been stacked against McCain from the start, linked, as he was, to President George Bush, with his near-record low popularity ratings, hostility towards the Iraq war and an impending recession.

But McCain managed to hold his own until mid-September, when the Wall Street crash saw Obama open up a commanding lead.

The next president will inherit horrendous economic problems that will limit the scope of his ambitions. Obama, in his final rallies, was already tempering his early promise of change with warnings about how he would have to curb some of his more ambitious plans, trying to lower expectations that he would be able to move quickly on health care and education reform.

The stock market experienced its biggest election day rally in 24 years on expectation of an Obama victory as the Dow Jones industrial averages surged 300 points, or 3%, to close at 9,625.28 points.

Reporters travelling with Obama reported that the candidate was in a subdued rather than celebratory mood, perhaps reflecting the news of the death of his grandmother on Monday. Obama told them that whatever happened, the campaign, the costliest in US history at over $1bn (£629m) as well as the longest, had been "extraordinary".

Early expectations were of record turnout levels, with the morning bringing long lines at polling stations. However, exit polls later in the day saw voters under 30, the target demographic of the Obama camp, voting at about the same levels as in 2004.

That would be a disappointment for the Obama camp which had been hoping that young voters would buck the tradition of showing enthusiasm for a candidate and then failing to turn out on the day.

Exit polls did chart a rise in African-American turn-out.
CNN, based on the exit polls, projected that Obama would win Vermont, no great surprise as it is traditionally Democrat

Independent election monitors reported sporadic instances of delayed openings of polling stations, broken voting machines, ballot shortages, voter confusion and occasional abuse in a number of battleground states including Florida, Ohio, Colorado, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

<--- Blame this lady for Nutty.

3. "Obama wins in earliest vote in tiny Dixville Notch, NH"
In response to Reply # 0

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081104/ap_on_el_pr/new_hampshire_first_votes

DIXVILLE NOTCH, N.H. – Barack Obama came up a big winner in the presidential race in Dixville Notch and Hart's Location, N.H., where tradition of having the first Election Day ballots tallied lives on.

Democrat Obama defeated Republican John McCain by a count of 15 to 6 in Dixville Notch, where a loud whoop accompanied the announcement in Tuesday's first minutes. The town of Hart's Location reported 17 votes for Obama, 10 for McCain and two for write-in Ron Paul. Independent Ralph Nader was on both towns' ballots but got no votes.

"I'm not going to say I wasn't surprised," said Obama supporter Tanner Nelson Tillotson, whose name was drawn from a bowl to make him Dixville Notch's first voter.

With 115 residents between them, Dixville Notch and Hart's Location get every eligible voter to the polls beginning at midnight on Election Day. Between them, the towns have been enjoying their first-vote status since 1948.

Being first means something to residents of the Granite State, home of the nation's earliest presidential primary and the central focus — however briefly — of the vote-watching nation's attention every four years.

Town Clerk Rick Erwin said Dixville Notch is proud of its tradition, but added, "The most important thing is that we exemplify a 100 percent vote."

Dixville Notch resident Peter Johnson said the early bird electoral exercise "is fun." A former naval aviator, Johnson said he was voting for McCain, but added, "I think both candidates are excellent people."

Voting was carried out in a room in a local hotel festooned with political memorabilia from campaigns long past. Each voter gets an individual booth so there are no lines at the magic hour. The votes were quickly counted, announced and recorded on a posterboard that proclaims, "First in the Nation, Dixville Notch."

The tradition drew spectators, including Tim McKenna, who drove with his wife 16 miles from Cambridge, N.H., to witness the event.

"Living in New Hampshire, you hear so much about it in the news," said McKenna. "I think it's a very historic election this year."

Ed Butler, a Democratic state representative who runs the Notchland Inn in Hart's Location, said, "Being this small and being able to be first just makes it that much more special."

Although scores of states have voted early, the two villages are the first to officially announce the results on Election Day.

New Hampshire law requires polls to open at 11 a.m., but that doesn't stop towns from opening earlier. It also allows towns to close their polls once all registered and eligible voters have cast ballots.

Hart's Location started opening its polls early in 1948, the year Harry S. Truman beat Thomas Dewey, to accommodate railroad workers who had to get to work early. Hart's Location got out of the early voting business in 1964 after some residents grew weary of all the publicity, but brought it back in 1996.

Dixville Notch, nestled in a mountain pass 1,800 feet up and about halfway between the White Mountain National Forest and the Canadian border, followed suit in 1960, when John F. Kennedy beat Richard M. Nixon. Nixon, the Republican, swept all nine votes cast in Dixville that year, and before Tuesday, the town had gone for a Democrat only once since then. That was in 1968, when the tally was Democrat Hubert Humphrey eight, Nixon four.

4. "It’s not about left, right"
In response to Reply # 0

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt2yGzHfy7s

It’s not about left, right, conservatives, liberals, or any other manifestation of the false left-right paradigm, so often employed this election season. It’s about the New World Order and the blossoming of a police state under the “perfect master,” nothing more than window dressing for repression and dictatorship. Since Obama is a black man, and the nation is steeped in three decades of political correctness, it will be impossible to oppose him. Lest we do, we may very well face his “civilian national security force.” Fascism always looks pretty much the same, no matter the era or country.

but i am surprised to see the candidate they chose at least has a black wife as opposed to somone of another descent. I'm not against interracial dating by any means, but for the first so-called victory, at least let it be a man woman and children which is somewhat what we have now. Michelle is as powerful a symbol as Barack if not moreso.

In response to Reply # 0

http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Ohio_police_in_riot_gear_on_1104.html

It sounds like the kind of thing that precedes "elections" under dictatorships: Riot police being readied for "civil unrest" during a presidential vote.

But the location is in the United States. According to an internal memo acquired by the local NBC News affiliate, Toledo, Ohio police officers have been ordered to "have their riot equipment with them Tuesday and Wednesday."

Police chief Mike Navarre told the network officers will carry equipment similar to the gear they used during 2005 race riots.

"They have been asked to have their helmets and their gas masks available tomorrow and Wednesday," Navarre said, "That's the equipment they would not normally carry with them on a normal day."

Police chief Navarre added that officers wouldn't be station at individual polling places -- but the memo says otherwise. According to NBC, it reads, "On Tuesday, units shall be directed to patrol the polling locations".

6. "Despite Criticism, Obama Stands By Adviser Brzezinski"
In response to Reply # 0

http://www.nysun.com/national/despite-criticism-obama-stands-by-adviser/62534/

WASHINGTON — Senator Obama is standing by one of his top foreign policy advisers, Zbigniew Brzezinski, despite concerns that aligning with the former aide to President Carter will undermine Mr. Obama's support with the pro-Israel community.

Mr. Brzezinski, who served as national security adviser in the Carter administration, introduced Mr. Obama before a major policy speech on Iraq yesterday in Iowa, where the Illinois senator praised his work on the Camp David Accords and called him "one of our most outstanding thinkers."

Mr. Obama's embrace of Mr. Brzezinski has angered some supporters of Israel put off by Mr. Brzezinski's criticism of the Jewish state in recent years and his praise for the authors of a book that condemns the influence of the "Israel lobby." Mr. Obama's campaign has disavowed the book, "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy," by John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt.

A Harvard law professor and supporter of Senator Clinton, Alan Dershowitz, said Tuesday that Mr. Obama had "made a terrible mistake" by aligning with Mr. Brzezinski.

A spokeswoman for the Obama campaign, Jennifer Psaki, yesterday pointed to the fact that Messrs. Brzezinski and Obama both opposed the Iraq war from the beginning, unlike Mrs. Clinton, and she suggested the Clinton camp was trying to smear Mr. Brzezinski.

Given Mr. Brzezinski's opposition to the war, she said, "It's not terribly surprising that those who embraced the war would try to discredit him now." Ms. Psaki added: "Barack Obama has a strong record in support of a secure Israel and he will continue to foster a strong U.S.-Israel relationship when he is in the White House."

The Clinton campaign declined comment.

activists vs the man

only now it's e-activists (due to the stifling of real activism)

since the first change comes in the mind

hence. here we are, as you've said.

btw i love how you backed that up there. maybe i've upset you

if that's the case, possibly you'd understand being on the receiving end of a very stubborn opinionated person with power over the very arena we are all in.

i can look at something in more ways than one which makes me objective at times. could appear to be flip-flopping at times but really there is more than one side to something

you're another person so I don't expect you to be like me but you could at least be more receptive

if not, we could always slim down this board a little more. there are new posters that haven't learned of your tyranny yet.

but you can change!

yes you can!

I understand why some of you guys are anti-Obama. I disagree with the dude about a lot of things. In fact, I was telling everyone last night that it's time to start reorienting towards criticizing the guy we were all cheering for last night. Real change is only going to come if we force those in power to provide it. An election only changes the people in office, which may alter the government's openness to change but doesn't actually change anything.

Still, the only two immediate outcomes that were possible last night were a complete and total loss (McCain) and a symbolic, but (thus far) substantively empty victory (Obama). I'll take the symbolic victory over a complete and total loss any day. And if Obama proves me wrong on substance (which I doubt), then so be it.

change

we know there's big changes coming. oprah said there is a shift in consciousness. she's the magical figure that guides the masses into new age thinking. there is change coming but its been predetermined from the powers that be. the question i have is, despite that fact, what differing effect does that have on the americans' psyche as opposed to a real change if most americans don't know its not real? the effects are natural but the cause is not.

can there be natural reaction from the people that generates real change? or can we expect that those outcomes have already been determined with plans of action to be applied to whichever one accordingly?

the change in consciousness is manufactured. you'll still have blatant racism and that magical empress oprah will still continue to look the other way on such subjects to convince white soccer moms to keep their eyes on the prize. (and sidestep those black folks that are undesirable in the process) until the real problems of this country are faced head on, not much will change.

>can there be natural reaction from the people that generates
>real change? or can we expect that those outcomes have already

the reactions in this particular instance, are both natural and manufactured. and the outcome has already been predetermined. and those who step outside of that predetermination will probably suffer for it.

in order for real change to happen, rome as we know it has to crumble a bit.

and that's just not going to happen. the people are too much of sheep to make it happen.

Revolutions happen. If you really think it is useless to attempt to enact change within a system (which I would have a tendency to agree with), then get out there and get your revolution on. But if you aren't willing to do that, all that is left is within the system. As far as I can tell, the only way the system has ever been changed from within is by people at the bottom pushing on people with power. If that is true, the only important thing that can happen in an election is the selection of someone who is more inclined to listen than the other person.

I've posted on this before, but I'll throw out two things:

Duverger's Law (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duvergers_Law)
Rorty's Achieving Our Country (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Achieving_Our_Country)

I suppose your definition of critical analysis differs from mine. It will never cease to amaze me how we get so caught up in our ideals that we lose sight of reality.

seeing Obama on tv as our next president can't help but bring a smile and a warm fuzzy to us. true its only symbolic, but it is a powerful symbol. i believe despite what little change happens, peoples mentalities may shift a little on their perceptions. that's worth its weight in gold.

you'll get over that warm and fuzzy feeling when shit doesn't go as people hope it will.

and as for obama, more power to him.

but remember this, white people see this as more of their accomplishment than anything we did.

and that alone is unnerving to those of us that see the big picture.

mostly i've been like you've said but SO MANY happy people had me shifting my disposition lol

groupthink is very interesting. everyone is so happy, passing it around. meanwhile its competely based on a mirage. like this is an oasis in a desert. wow. good example.

>but remember this, white people see this as more of their
>accomplishment than anything we did.
>
>and that alone is unnerving to those of us that see the big
>picture.

this is what's crazy. the democrat movement. wow. it really shows at least one effect of compromising those social injustices (paris texas and sean bell) early on, how it lays the groundwork for all-inclusion now and no one dares speak up anything that may disrupt the victory.

to suppress the pain of a people that suffered for a 400+ year span to ask them to bury that pain and forget about it lacks compassion and is destructive. something needs to happen there, but i'm not too hopeful which is sad. i'd love to have hope but i've never seen any real progress in politics while i've been on this planet. maybe the warm fuzzy is kin to Ice Cube's line in Who's The Mack?:

"you know it's drama but it sounds real good"

>and that alone is unnerving to those of us that see the big
>picture.

you are only seeing a piece of the big picture. like I said before, the things you describe are indeed disheartening. but you seem to see everything in entirely dichotomous terms. from a directional perspective, this is an incredibly small, almost insignificant, move in the right direction. which, regardless of how you feel about everything else, is better than the alternatives (no change/a move in the wrong direction).

*back in July i responded to someone else regarding the issue and i will now include media examples with my points*

inadvertently or intentional there are far-reaching implications with having a non-white person in Oval Office. some important issues to consider:

1. the world is now flat. the fact that Obama has a Black wife, Asian sister, and African siblings (in addition to mid-western, white relations) is a bigger shift than many people realize. the view that the world as flat or level in terms of commerce and competition, as in a level playing field is required if the U.S. wants to remain competitive in a global market where historical, regional and geographical divisions are becoming increasingly irrelevant

VIDEO CLIP: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/us_elections_2008/7710876.stm
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/us_elections_2008/7710949.stm

2. Black people need their own mythology/institutionalized capital. back in grad school this white student told me that Black people did not have a mythology or a known story that serves to explain the legacy of our people (beyond slavery). after over 400 years we still have no real way to convert cultural capital to economic capital by guaranteeing a certain monetary value for a certain institutional level of achievement. having a "Black" POTUS will help to institutionalize our contributions which means our children can then become better educated

WEB ARTICLE: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nation/6095679.html

3. entitled and entrenched white people will be forced to address institutionalized racism. this country is so racially stratified in terms of power that most are unable to recognize this disparity, no matter what "world" they exist in. we have been conditioned to accept that white men are the authority and just having someone who is not white upsets this status quo. whites -- even liberal whites -- will miss the power and influence they once wielded. for example, how many objected to preferential hiring when whites got the best jobs?

WEB ARTICLE: http://www.esquire.com/the-side/feature/racists-support-obama-061308

4. having a Black male in the Oval Office offsets the perception of Black males whose status in society continues to deteriorate due to a variety of factors. Black men are becoming more disconnected from mainstream society, even as other groups make gains. this is destroying the Black community. just the mere idea that a Black man can become POTUS would have a positive effect on Black men. it only helps that Obama has a Black family

Byron Hurt's Barack & Curtis: Manhood, Power & Respect: http://www.blackpublicmedia.org

and this is just the beginning. to often i see on this board a bunch of complaining and no accountabilty or action. it's easy to point the finger at someone else, or criticize someone BEFORE they actually have a chance to do a job

#1 just illustrates that he was the golden globe winner of the globalists. yes Obama wants a global community hence his Berlin speech and silence on NAFTA/NAU. while many people are now loving the global idea which can be heard by their chants of UNITY (which is a false unity given atrocities against black people can still go on unnoticed by media and politicians). while we can't change globalism that doesn't mean we have to support it.

#2 is a great point and hopefully it does inspire kids and others to do well and to reach. problem is the music and other pyschological warfare weapons are saying the opposite message. at least now there is an opposing positive message, hope-meister Obama

#3 is not going to happen. its sad that you and some others believe this. all we can do is wait and see. I hope to God you're right. for that to happen though white people will have to admit entitlement and such which we are far far away from. barack couldn't even speak on Sean Bell etc without fearing losing white voters. and that magically changes now? maybe all white people will see the light. but i doubt it. just in seeing the racist anti-obama emails going around, i can tell u that's not happening.

#4 might work except I know mad white people saying how he's half white. they also mention his Kenyan heritage over calling him black. while black people may call him black and white people may as well, there are a few that don't. but for this to work within the black community, I hope it does. again there is psychological warfare to do battle with, but the symbol alone of a black president is very powerful. powerful enough to change lives on an individual basis. we'll see. if celebrities can do it, why not a president?

go become an Eastern Star and see how many opportunities open up for you. these politicians need to prove their accountabilty to us. they are on a higher standard and can't get by on lip service.

...oh wait..but they do..that's not the way it should work. calling me a complainer is like me calling you a sucker. and even if i was, which is better? obviously not the latter.

agreed. in fact, i'm afraid the opposite effect will set in. check out the post i put up about mccain's concession speech. i think it is highly likely that "white people" (the nonexistent monolithic group) will take Obama's ascent to the presidency as proof that institutional/structural racism no longer exists. this is the next big battle in my opinion.

in some of the mccain camps. i know a few on facebook who are seeing crazy intolerance due to mccain losing. granted it's college students but last time I checked that equated educated. the fact remains that since racism was always here but more underground, a little flood comes and we have racist vegetation springing up everywhere

so i'm interested in seeing how the claiming-racism-is-over white people are going to deal with i'm-racist-hear-me-roar white people

we'll see. i am not looking at the reactionary messages because i've seen such filth flarn filth all my life. i am looking at the bigger picture and we really don't have anything to go on from the U.S. historical past to base your doubt on

it's NOT about white people seeing the light. it's about the emergence of a new identity politic, within a diverse country such as this one

Obama is now just as much a celebrity as 50 Cent and Jay Z

he has solutions and cares about the Constitution. no complaints from me. after that I would've went McKinney or Nader. or Ron Paul if he was in it. I'm not a complainer just because you like to support the lowest common denominator candidates. CNN is already advertising National ID cards for the NAU. I hope you'll be first in line!
>
>globalization is a by-product of the digital age, not just
>socio-political maneuvering. it's a reality

slavery was a reality too but i never see you supporting that. so because globalism is here to stay why not support it. that's great logic. at least the digital age has many personal benefits but there are huge detractions as well. sorry that you can't see more than one angle.

>but when have we EVER had a POTUS who is Black and named
>Barack Husein Obama?

you got your own BRAND of a President to satisfy your deep inner pain so it's worth overlooking all the signs that he was CHOSEN by the elite and not the people. We citizens are no more than Pavlovian experiments. At least I can see that he might go rogue, but you can't admit that he might not care about social justice. but that's nothing new.
>

ok this is how it's going to happen. crazy things are going to happen and we will be urged to come together unite and give up individual liberties for more digital secure solutions. part of that is for those to stop complaining about their cultural baggage which I've noticed is your focus. so good luck with that.
>
for white people to get over their entitlement and any other group they've influcenced, these issues must be addressed. Why do so many people want reparations all these years later? closure. recognition. that's not happening. so if you can just bury all that under carpet you might as well do it now. so stop calling people sexist and such now otherwise it will be hard for you later. that is if you want to go along with the agenda.
>
>Obama is now just as much a celebrity as 50 Cent and Jay Z

interesting, i hardly hear black people bring this up...i wonder if this dis-authenticates the symbol of him being the first "african american/black" president...

I also wonder if his heritage will change the way african americans view africans/africa as a whole...

You guys remind me of a caller from Newark on CNN last night, who stated his support for Cynthia McKinney. He argued that he refused to support Obama because he did not speak out on behalf of the Jena Six (an absolute falsehood by the way) and didn't address the issue of reparations. LOL! You McDonaldized revolutionaries, you... When will you guys ever learn that ordinary folks could give a rat's behind about secret societies or far-out, right-wing conspiracies regarding global domination We already know who runs the world -- OLD, WHITE MEN WITH WEALTH, LEGACY, AND PRIVATE PROPERTY.

We are more concerned about looking at our paystubs at the end of the week to see how much money is stolen from our checks for superfluous military spending and corporate welfare bailout programs. We are more concerned about affordable healthcare so when I land on the back of my head from an osotogari, I won't have to think twice about visiting the ER. We are more concerned about the price of gas, so on our days off from work, we can actually drive to the Jersey Shore for a little rest and relaxation. It's the little things in life that we, the working class -- the international proletariat -- have come to appreciate. We could not give a fiddler's fart about Art Bell, David Icke, Alex Jones, or The Amazing Kreskin.

This is why you guys lose, all day, everyday. You had the chance to be part of history, yet your self-righteous and 'more knowledge than thou attitude' kept y'all on the sidelines. It's like you guys think that hope is a bad thing, when that's all people want right now -- a little hope for a brighter day.

If your apathy had yielded McCain as our next president, I'm sure you guys would've cared less had your Social Security benefits been privatized. Noooo, who could worry about that when there's too much time to ponder who the original Jews were.

The statement below pretty much somes up how I feel about you turkeys:

You're right. Couldn't remember what station that

whining about Obama's birth certificate? wah, wah, wah!!!
It's like these nuts on the far Left and Right would

Obama voted FOR the massive corperate bailout/theft.

Obama wants to increase the military by 90,000 troops and esclate the war in Afghanistan.

Obama has refused single payer as an option, even though the rest of the modern world has it and its the most cost effective and efficient.

Thanks for confirming everything I said in
my other post....

Talking down to the very people you claim
to advocate for -- WORKING PEOPLE. Don't
try to sit here and give me some university
'student radical' lecture about how unenlightened
my working class ass is. I voted for Nader in
the past, as well as the Socialist Workers Party.
Right now I have to concern myself with paying
the rent and paying my taxes, rather than fart
around and worry about Obama being a secret agent
for The Knights of Columbus.

If Obama does keep his word and provide the middle
class with tax cuts and better healthcare choices,
I personally don't think YOU should benefit from
it since you wanted to fool around and play Franz
Fannon.

First of all, smarty pants, why don't you wait and
taste what's on the plate before you critisize the
meal. The brother hasn't even moved his furniture
into the White House, and you're already pissing and
moaning.

And thank you very much for "schooling" me on Obama's
political prowess and history of legislative decisions.
I'm so sorry that PRESIDENT Obama doesn't have a copy
of "The Isis Papers" or Mao's "Little Red Book" tucked
under his arm. You bloody well know that this guy is
going to be placed under a microscope of scrutiny by
the world over and will have to resort to gradualism,
and pragmatic thinking. Try to put down the plastic
Kalashnikov, take off the beret, and learn a thing or
three about the complexities of American politics.

Here endeth the lesson.

you listed the things that "working class" americans cared about. I simply listed Obama's positions on those issues.

instead of refuting my points you just ignore them and rant about some unrelated nonsense.

dude... c'mon.

I don't need to provide a retort, I'm well
aware of the reasons -- your reasons -- why
I'm not supposed to like PRESIDENT Obama. If
I expected PRESIDENT Obama or anyone else to
share my perspective on life, everyone would
be rockin vintage Polo gear. That wouldn't
be too much fun, now would it?

This guy took his Ivy League education and worked
with folks in the streets. That right there is fine
with me. I also know that if this man was to progress
in life he would have to make a few decisions that
would force him to bite a bullet and swallow his pride.
When I grew up and became an adult, I had to do the
same thing. In boxing, you start off as a tin,
tomato can, you suck it up, hone your craft, and
become the a champ with the gold. Right about now,
I see a black guy who came from nothing and did just
that -- become a champ. Maybe you don't like it, but
it was a clear mandate of the people. Suck it up.

Here's what I don't understand, this is a point in
U.S. history that was made possible by so many people
who came before us, fought and died for this day, and
all you can do is piss and moan. A bunch of disgruntled,
fringe elements in society angry because Obama isn't
wearing an dashiki and repeating every armchair revolutionary
slogans, this side of Khalid Muhammad. I'm sure if Harriet
Tubman were alive to see this day, you'd give her some
schooling as well, wouldn't you?

dude, you listed a bunch of fundamental issues you were concerned with, I listed why Obama wouldn't be good on those issues, and your response is...

"uh.. uh... I don't expect Obama to share my position on the issues that I obviously care about so uh... yeah"

Bush had a mandate, so did Nixon, hell, so did Reagan.

You might like voting for the candidate for superficial, sentimental reasons, but sorry.... THAT AINT ME..... I vote on issues peroid.

90,000 more troops for the military industrial complex... expansion of offshore drilling.... FISA vote that let criminals off the hook... inabilty to ever challenge establishment even ONCE!

where in that do you see anything about dashikis and revolutions? You don't, because its a foolish strawman.

Thanks, pally, but I can speak for myself
when I'm good and ready. It is not me who
has anything to prove on this board, rather
it is you considering the rest of us are so
provincial minded. Thus far, you haven't
done a very good job of it. I'm just sayin.

>Bush had a mandate, so did Nixon, hell, so did Reagan.

Well, I think the vast majority of us -- outside
this disgruntled fringe element -- would agree
that there is something a bit unique to this
particular presidential victory. Most of us see
it but according to you, we're the ones with
blinders on.

>You might like voting for the candidate for superficial,

Keep doing it, fella... Keep talking down to us.
Yes, because if I didn't vote for the same reasons
you did, or the same candidate, I surely must be
misinformed. Keep talking down to us, fella.

Here's what I see... A guy who hasn't even moved
into the White House yet but seems to already be
catching a helluva lotta heat. I thought his
vote reversal for the FISA bill stunk. As for
the military industrial complex and energy issues,
I'll have to wait and see how he tackles those issues.
I can tell you this, I'm %110 in favor of those
stimulus packages he's proposing to help get the
economy going again.

Yes, we are soooooo easily manipulated which
is why we need you, Inkast, Jahlove7, and
the rest of the Red Guards of the Hip Hop
Comintern Youth Brigade to liberate us from
our will to survive and our devotion to provide
for our families.

Who in thee blue hell do you think you are?

First of all, mack, I was a shop steward and
a labor organizer for SEIU 1199, I know what
it is like to get out in the trenches and
take on the big shots. I live in the hood

any your soap box ranting. We -- yes, WE --

who come along and try to tell us what is good
for us and what isn't. Every so often it's a
different group of nuts coming around here to
"enlighten" us: The Mormons, Five Percenters,
Muslims, the landlord, the Christians. Then I
have to get on this board and listen to you tell
us "Hey, dude, you shouldn't be happy right now!
Now is not the time to rejoice, now is the time
to piss and moan about the "MAN's" boot on
everyone's necks."

"Selfish....." Listen to you... Get off your high
horse and go eat your vegetables or something. No
one cares about your call to revolution, we have
to get up in the morning and make an honest living.

Good day, sir.

we all need to survive. I'm not discounting that. But you're talking about what will help immediate needs which don't deal with the overlaying problem. The working class outside of those with their own businesses are all working to put money in a corporations pocket that only cares about the bottom line. Now while there are probably a few other smaller businesses in there that actually still care about its customer and employee base, those are getting swallowed up by the behomoth corps.

The difference between blue collar and white collar is simple. One's in the fields and ones in the towns, ones following orders and the others making rules. People have to do what they're good at but meanwhile the white collar executive class has things like public relations (the science of lies), social engineering (how to manipulate society), and social psychology (groupthink). You may not want to think about that because you have a lot on your plate as does anyone in the working class, but doing so you are submitting to a more comfortable reality that doesn't exist anywhere, except in the populace's mind.

that's commendable. i'm sure a victory would have helped your cause. meanwhile that's small potatoes in the grand scheme of things. there are already hundreds of compromises that Americans have made that are now ingrained in our generations psyche as acceptable that wouldn't have flown in the '60s. Why is that? I'd bet you'd say the hippies grew up. That's why there's no more revolutionaries. But that is not the case. There have been numerous measures taken to insure we people just worry about our own families and making money. Eventually there will be a point where we are really in an Orweillan world. People like you who've "grown up" will not have anything to worry about. As long as your secure and getting paid. The only reason the majority is like you is lack of knowledge. Because if you really really knew you'd have realized that compromising is doing nothing but selling yourself out and your family.

be happy for the real reasons to be happy. you have a job you like, you have a great family, your hobbies. the only way a politician can make anyone happy is by telling people what they want to hear. so if i lied to you, you'd be happy?

if all you care about is tax breaks it is selfish. we're not even supposed to be paying taxes. Boston Tea Party anyone? but we've gotten okeedoked so much you're happy for crumbs. that's your choice. this is a forum where we can all come together and figure it out. we all have different perspectives so there are lots of points that are covered. the working class is important, its a large chunk of America. but one thing about the working class is don't be so busy that you don't have time to see the whole and its parts. its so easy to look at it from one side but when taken in together it's a complex machine designed to feed off the citizens while the rich get richer. thats why after all these years we're still asking for lower taxes.

feel the need nor desire to explain my position on

I understand why you would say labor organizing is a big deal. Many would agree. But many of those like you've clearly stated before are too concerned with their jobs and families to analyze any social structures especially what one would deem as a conspiracy. That is why they would overlook the FACT that organized labor is linked tightly with organized crime. The mafia for years has had its grip on labor groups. And while Sopranos is a tv show it shows real themes as stated by the creator, so you can see how trash removal and construction sites were so prevalent. So while someone could organize and fight for change, they'd be going against the mafia. Good luck with that lol. NYU law professor James Jacobs wrote a book which examines how the mob has distorted American labor history. Maybe that's why you never heard of it.

So you don't know what your neighbors like but you know Jahlove's age and personality who you've only had contact through this forum? I thought you would've since you purport to know everything. Calling me haughty? lol Since you've returned here you've said how you were going to write some real quality posts. And while you've posted your perspective, everyone can't have the same one. I'm not a maverick yet you and Nettrice, whom you mirror, seem to think so. That's because we think, act and live different. That's the whole point of this forum. Sorry we can't all live in the hood or be 10-yr veterans of a message board. That's really great that you think that I think I'm some revolutionary or messiah for the people. I just have a differing opinion. And while I'll argue it because we all have different experiences to back them up of at least being developed in the first place, that doesn't mean that because you disagree, that I would like you to join my e-cult. That's very presumptuous. And while presumption rules the net and i've done my fair share, I do believe you are the king. You've been gone awhile and while you may be some champion poster of the okayplayer annals, you haven't really done much recently but speak out against people you think are mavericks while you rant about change the liberal way. I know you're a democrat but I thought you were had more sides to you than that.

try to sit here and give me some university
'student radical' lecture about how unenlightened

Right now I have to concern myself with paying

around and worry about Obama being a secret agent
for The Knights of Columbus.

If Obama does keep his word and provide the middle
class with tax cuts and better healthcare choices,
I personally don't think YOU should benefit from
it since you wanted to fool around and play Franz
Fannon.

it's clear you don't know what you're talking about. and it's clear if we were to break down obama's policy.

i don't give a damn what you think. i've probably been paying taxes longer than you son. and an avid popular political ass-smacker like you doesn't even exist in my memory bank.

inkast already broke you off with the facts about obama's policy, and all you did was spout some non-sense that only makes sense to you...and nettrice.

that alone speaks volumes about you.

dude, did you answer his questions or didn't you? i could care less about inkast's personal life. it's not my concern what he does. and i don't do the gd board...tricks are for kids. yeah, you're knocking on 40, but you're still mentally about 20 if you're on the gd board. All of this right here is why I know beyond a shadow
of a doubt you are not even close to being in your
forties . You bonehead (lol)! No one in their
right mind, purportedly a middle-aged advocate for
social justice and a man of the people, would sit
here and say such nonsense as "I don't do the gd
boards...tricks are for kids." What next? "My dad
can beat up your dad."

You sad, little child. One of the first things you
learn as a community organizer, a labor leader, a
civil rights activist, etc., is that you don't do
it because people will like you or shower you with
accolades. If you want your fragile self-esteem
validated, go watch Dr. Phil. The way you've reacted
to people questioning your perspective indicates that
you have no business flirting with this type of
endeavor. You will never, ever win people over by
claiming you know something the vast majority of us
don't.

No way... No way you are a middle-aged man with that
type of temperament and conduct. Nooooo way. Unless
you're one of these old-ass dudes I see around here
thinking they are young and hip by rocking a Fubu
velour sweatsuit and Willie Esco 'flexfit' baseball
cap. In a way, you do fit that profile. lol

Christ! Maternalbliss, please don't use the "N" word
ever again. Are you happy now? And since you ask me
if I think the "N" word is acceptable... NO! I don't.
Conversely, I don't think someone who's ranting on this
board about "the people" should be call her a trick.

You mean like work a 9-5? I'm oh, so sorry I don't

are you doing on the internet? Don't you have a revolution
to spark or a you just taking a respite?

Well, you've got it all figured out, don't you? If had
just went along with your stupid "call to arms," I'm sure
you'd be sucking up to me like the other dolts around
here who talk such nonsense.

additionally Bush has been over in Africa like all of our other presidents dividing and conquering. i'm sure Kenyans believe all that's going to change now.

Obama hasn't done one thing yet and people are acting like he's the messiah. there is absolutely nothing wrong with waiting for actual change first.

they're outnumbered though

other countries have a more holistic view of support

Kenya called Obama their brother even before he won

they support him because he's from there point blank

Japan and Indonesia endorsed Obama

I notice though you didn't include the endorsement by North Korea

what's that say? lol

Africa

for celebrating, i can't fault them or anything.

it's just not surprising because he's Kenyan. Africa is community driven and welcomes those around it. Obama's their brother despite what we Americans have said about him and his status. I'm not sure if Indonesia and Japan are doing a similar thing, if it's their own interests or if they are genuinely just happy. I probably should watch the clip (can't when at work)

i recently had a brief conversation with a guy from NY. He said the Obama campaign reminded him of the David Dinkins campaign. Well I do know Dinkins was NY's first and only black mayor. He also was elected after Koch who served several terms as mayor just like Bush has served a couple of terms as President. Dinkins was elected during an economically difficult time , much like Obama. From what i understand his term was largely insignificant and there was no serious attempt to rebuild the city. I did not go to wikipedia this is what I understand the situation was.

Could the guy i have been on to something? I can definitely see how NY could have been used as a test run for a future election of a Black President.
C'mon Harlemites, Brooklynites etc. I wanna know what went on.

Any of you sheep aware that Barack Hussien Obama is CFR mason? His wife is also head of CFR. Did any of you wonder where he got that 200 mil in funds for his faux campaign.

Would they really let a black man win in a 75% white country? We'll cee how the saga unfolds, and the 'change' shift from your so called 'we can do it, change' jargon. We'll cee the socialist in action.

In response to Reply # 153

and despite my opinions, this whole thing is still very exciting. we don't know for sure anything. the change.gov site he's covering everything. i don't know how he's going to do any of that, but it's very interesting given all of the different factors involved. this Fourth Turning thing is the wildcard in the whole thing. Obama has made the news must-see TV irregardless of where anyone stands because we all want to see what he's going to do next.
