Feb 04th 2023
87
kerr in post game presser said looney is starting going forward lol.
Feb 04th 2023
95
I think the move to start Looney has less to do with him than with Poole
Feb 05th 2023
116
wouldnt be surprised if the dubs blew this lead in the 2nd half.
Feb 04th 2023
89
draymond singlehandedly saved a *complete* 4th quarter collapse.
Feb 04th 2023
93
jordan poole put up 3 points on 16% shooting.
Feb 04th 2023
94
steph finished with more rebounds than poole and wiggins combined.
Feb 04th 2023
96
Wouldn’t be surprised if the Clippers land kyrie.
Feb 04th 2023
90
Cool then maybe we could make a move for KD….
Feb 05th 2023
98
Lol, no the hell we couldn’t
Feb 05th 2023
100
Giannis 35,15&11 on 13-19 shooting, Nets won without Kyrie, Pelicans…

102
I think once Kyrie goes KD is right behind him
Feb 05th 2023
103
Damn, Steph out for the ASG and will miss "multiple weeks"...
Feb 05th 2023
104

Feb 05th 2023
106
Dinwiddie, Finney Smith, 2029 1st and multiple 2nds
Feb 05th 2023
107
Is that better than the Clippers package?
Feb 05th 2023
108
Man, I can't find anything saying what the Clips "strong" offer was.
Feb 05th 2023
109
      Not really.
Feb 05th 2023
111
Nope, Lakers didn’t want to sign him long term
Feb 05th 2023
112
You can’t care about picks when you have KD
Feb 05th 2023
113
                Nets wanted picks. It’s over
Feb 05th 2023
117
If they wanted picks…this wasn’t the package.
Feb 05th 2023
122
Actual reporting says you don’t know what you’re talking about
Feb 05th 2023
128
So it had nothing to do with not wanting to sign Kyrie long term
Feb 06th 2023
131
No, fockface, I have a source for that too
Feb 06th 2023
132
                                    LOL
Feb 06th 2023
133
                                         You’re a disgustingly disingenuous person
Feb 06th 2023
134
                                              Your SOURCE was a presumption.
Feb 06th 2023
136
Note how you ignored the other two
Feb 06th 2023
138
Yeah Negro. You were too hasty.
Feb 06th 2023
174

Feb 05th 2023
119
Could the Lakers send AD and Russ for KD
Feb 05th 2023
120
That’s tempting. I’m not sure if the money works out.
Feb 05th 2023
121
Where are you getting Kyrie from? He’s in Dallas now.
Feb 05th 2023
123

Feb 05th 2023
124

Feb 05th 2023
127
yeah that was a head scratcher
Feb 06th 2023
130
Nets went from a big 3 to a tedious 10 + Ben
Feb 06th 2023
135
Bring DLo back , send ben to the g league forever
Feb 06th 2023
137
Tedious 10 & Ben needs to be a new term. Lmao
Feb 06th 2023
145
Spencer Dinwiddle isn't on the same level of Kyrie Irving
Feb 06th 2023
146
Bulls are playing much much better since calling
Feb 06th 2023
139
I always find the deals that didn't happen, interesting...
Feb 06th 2023
140
Tsai priority was sending Kyrie where he least wanted to go
Feb 06th 2023
141
i'm all for it.
Feb 06th 2023
142
oh, I know...the more interesting part to me...
Feb 06th 2023

147
That Clippers offer was trash as hell.
Feb 06th 2023

Feb 06th 2023
153

Feb 06th 2023
154

Feb 06th 2023
155
I don't think THAT was the talk, lol
Feb 06th 2023
173

Feb 06th 2023
188

Feb 06th 2023
157

Feb 06th 2023
161
                Ant & Fox
Feb 06th 2023
162
AD, Anthony Edwards or De'Aaron Fox are all more deserving.
Feb 06th 2023
163
I’m one of the biggest Laker fans here I wouldn’t put AD in the game...
Feb 06th 2023
164
As a Lakers fan I wouldn't put him in either
Feb 06th 2023
165
No he doesn’t have a case
Feb 06th 2023
166

171
No, Fockface, just admit you were wrong for once
Feb 06th 2023
186
why would you not put AD over JJJ?
Feb 06th 2023

Feb 06th 2023
181

that is lacking the depth of prior seasons.

they need more horses - so they better make a move or two.

they also are missing Mike Brown's defense.

that being said, they've been playing much better over the last 20 games, by all measures.

i mean, they lost last night in OT by a couple buckets where Klay and Poole shot like shit.

makes sense to me.

but, they do need help.

Major Stars have been injured.

Just get into the POs ( not the play in)

Dude was out for what like 1-2 months? So there is no chemistry.
And they lost 4 straight without Zion and Ingram in the lineup.

PHX is without Booker and were without Paul for awhile, and they have
been losing because of it.

Brooklyn lost KD and have dropped in the standings.

My point is that none of those teams are healthy or have
their full lineups, so they are not playing well….

But once they get fully health it will totally be a different situation.

Toronto got gassed off that title which Kawhi won for them….

Players are good players, but not on the level of their hype

FFV has a good offensive game, but is tremendously undersized at 6’1.
He gets ate up by bigger PGs.

Rumor has it that Toronto might push a fire sale after their road trip.

There’s nothing wrong with being petty about sports teams

Unless you’re doing psychotic shit berating someone in the stands for wearing another jersey, or stabbing them in the parking lot, it’s the perfect format to excercise extreme pettiness.

hasn't tried to reign that team's nonsense in. Have to imagine they'll only get worse over the years.

At the very least, they'll provide for some entertaining playoff basketball given how much they seemingly love to flap their collective gums and act fake tough on the court.

not excusing Steph, cuz some are just bonehead (i didn't watch any of tonights game so no clue how bad they were and doesn't change my thinking here), but not having the guys who you know like the back of your hand on the court COULD cause you to make a couple extra TOs.

cuz, when you know each other as well as Steph/Klay/Dray? i'm sure there's plays where you literally don't have to look cuz you know where they are supposed to be and they know too.

White Donte might not be where he was supposed to, you know?

he was having mind numbing turnover games with a fully healthy roster in his prime.

why are we acting like something crazy happened because of some rare conditions that applied to just last night? lol.

he had some dumb ass costly turnovers the previous game against minnesota with dray and klay on the court.

a big part of the reason that the warriors are losing most of these close games is because their 3 biggest ball handlers (steph, dray, poole) can be turnover machines that hand points to the other team in crucial moments.

this isnt a new thing lol.

Don’t think that’s REALLY been a debate for a couple years at minimum. MVP is a narrative award though - and, while the narrative could change here soon especially given what Giannis is doing with an injured Khris, the media shit changes so quick who can keep up with who’s gonna get the award.

I’m just trying to appreciate the shit the MVP candidates are doing right now. It’s NUTS. Jokic, Luka, Tatum, Giannis, Ja…all just incredible.

In response to Reply # 0

Indiana sucks compared to Philly.

Harden: 21/11
Haliburton: 20/10

And Derozan? No Bulls player should be anywhere near the allStar
game.

And Jaren Jackson?…He is 16/6. FOH.. nobody gives a Fock
about him avg 3 blocks a game in an all star sense…especially
if you compare that to what Fox is doing. Jackson is a good player,
allStar? No

Sacramento has been a great story this year, and they should have been rewarded with
2 selections.

Harden is being blackballed..clearly because of how he left Houston and BK

Breaking: Brooklyn Nets All-Star Kyrie Irving has requested a trade, league sources tell
@TheAthletic

@Stadium
. The franchise has been informed that Irving prefers to move on ahead of the Feb. 9 trade deadline – or will leave in free agency in July.

**edit**

So assuming this is legit, would the team that trades for him have to sign him long term? Would be hard to imagine a team would given up assets just to sign Kyrie for half a season, right?

he wants his last 3-4 year $30 million+ per year contract and the Nets don't want to indulge.

Have to wonder what middle of the pack to borderline contender is willing to give Kyrie that kind of contract.

I get their strategy was to wait out the season before talking new contract but clearly he's viewing that as, "Okay, you don't want me long term...so I'd rather leave".

I assume any team that's trading for him will be able to extend him right away (or at least agree to it), but you kinda never know with Kyrie. Would imagine it's Heat/Clippers/Lakers/Mavs that get involved in offers but....hm.

In response to Reply # 0

It's been beyond peculiar that the Lakers just really haven't done anything at all to address their roster issues (until they made the Rui move which was - low key - a nice acquisition that addressed some of the Lakers holes).

But if he somehow pulls off Kyrie (and Harris or Curry) for Russ (expiring deal) and a piece like L. Walker and a draft pick (or even two if you can get Kyrie)? That would be insane value-add for LA - and would make all the hesitancy and inactivity in the front-office look like a genius example of playing the long-game and holding out for best deal that can be made. Lakers have long insisted they would move their 1st round picks - but only if it's for a real difference-maker in terms of championship contention.

Kyrie is a real difference maker, on day one.

Back in Vegas in the summer there were whispers that Nets did have some interest in a deal w/ the Lakers - just not right away - and many hinted at a potential for this deal to get done at the deadline.

Kyrie wants to be in LA and commune w/ the Force (Mamba). He & LeBron have big nostalgia. Kyrie fills all the Lakers voids - and then some.

The value for Brooklyn is less clear. Although if he's leaving for certain, you want to at least get something back. Might as well get some assets if it's imminent.

Either he's gonna get fleeced or used as leverage again. Well, maybe not FLEECED. The Lakers don't really have enough assets to get fleeced. But I could absolutely see him trading 2 firsts for Kyrie only for that to go up in flames somehow.

Look - I'm prepared for Kyrie to be here. I'm sure it'll be great until it isn't. But the likelihood that this is yet another thing that'll hold us up in the trade market is pretty high.

But at no point has Rob been genius, lol.

If he pulls off a good move in the process won’t make him a genius
Particularly if he lucks into a deal for someone good

You can cyse Kyrie all you want but he comes with an immense amount of baggage, and that would be the only reason we even had a chance to get him.

move bron and a.d. while they have the most value now. maybe get a younger disgruntled all star or upcoming potential all star. and/or flip some assets and draft picks you get from the bron/a.d. trades for a big dawg during free agency.

better to get out early-ish and sell high than wait until your leverage dwindles (a.d. completely tapped out physically, bron making clear he wants out, etc).

that would take some balls (for various reasons) and actual foresight on the part of pelinka/jeanie tho.

but aside from the mickey mouse chip...the bron/a.d. era has been a flop and theyre just relying on hypothetical upside at this point ('when healthy', 1 trade away from being a contender, etc).

Haven't people learned their lesson about praising Pelinka?

Two (or has it been 3?) off seasons in a row ya'll were ready to build him a statue...and he made things worse each time.

If the Lakers get Kyrie its because no one else wanted him that much and it is still a terrible decision.

Time to destroy and rebuild.

I don’t know who among actual Lakers fans here was ready to erect statues of him

Far as I can tell he’s viewed as a guy who consistently overpays in ways that hurt us
A lot of us saw the folly in the AD deal at the time

The one caveat is that we got a title out of it, which is a net win
I still don’t know if that was worth fucking us this badly

A more competent GM may have been able to work better with what we had left after that deal. At best, people tried to be optimistic. I saw russ a significantly greater talent than Buddy, and thought the three could come together on some sacrifice shit. That didn’t happen.

Injuries played a large part of that, and those came from Bron and AD.

But Russ was every bit as much a Lebron/Klutch deal as it was a Pelinka move, so of course Vex isn’t going to shit on that too much. I could be wrong about that.

Lakers fans here were criticizing Pelinka’s extension.

At best, it was argued that it aligned with. lebron’s remaining time here, giving this group time and continuity, thus stability- particularly given the coaching situation.

At best, Rob keeps getting slight, contextual credit, on some “yeah, but……” steeze, or mild defense of the same kind when people completely trash him.
But praise? Ehhhhhh

Vex is a Lebron dick rider more than anything. I doubt he’d be cysing a Kyrie acquisition as some genius move if Lebron weren’t on the team.

I swear this board was heavy on the Pelinka
praise that summer after the chip tho.

I don’t remember specifically who, but I was skeptical
of changing a title teams identity like that. Felt like
I was one of the few who wasn’t impressed.

Either way, you make good points my bad.

I agree with you in that the best move is a hard
rebuild.

In response to Reply # 75

or just a basketball/Lakers fan?

I swear y'all get on your menstrual cycles when it comes to people being fans of players instead of franchises.

But to be clear: the Russ trade was a bad look - but last I checked Pelinka was the GM who had/has the ultimate sign-off (with the Buss approval).

As for Kyrie: Let's not act like LeBron (and Bron fans) are the only ones who wanted Ky to join the Lakers. Die-hard Lakers fans also were pushing for the move because they understand the chemistry Bron & Kyrie have, and the potential dynamism of Kyrie & AD as a future combo (roughly the same age) that could complement each other extraordinarily well in pick and roll action. What's the alternative? Riding with the current broken roster?

If Lakers can land Kyrie in free agency, they'd be foolish not to.

i have no idea what kerr has against looney. but im glad hes finally given up this delusion.

going back to last years playoffs...hes tried benching him for no explainable reason. its not like he was playing bad.

it was a disaster in the memphis and boston series. games were saved for the dubs when looney came in the game and rebounded his ass off.

dray and steph had to tell mike brown to start looney again against memphis and they closed out the series.

every single time they went with poole over looney this year it has put them in an unnecessary hole they have to dig out of to begin the game. its such a predictable outcome and i know kerr sees the data on it. the fact he still tried it for so long is really baffling.

I agree with everything you said about Looney. He anchors their presence inside and vacuums rebounds and is a solid compliment to Dray on defense.

But Poole isn't the same player when he comes off the bench. I have no idea why his splits are so different but he hasn't learned to handle it.

I guess Kerr felt he could give away the opening minutes in the hopes of Poole catching a spark and influencing the game as things move forward. However, those ultra small lineups with Poole just don't work defensively. He's really their X factor more than Klay now. And Jordan hasn't consistently met those challenges.

all these games play out the same way.

dubs have a manageable but not overwhelming lead to end the 1st half. then the fouls start...putting their opponent in the bonus early in a quarter. the defensive effort falls off a cliff. and the offense goes stagnant/cold. and of course you have the dumb turnovers.

even when they dont lose...theyll make it a nail biter against a team they clearly should outgun.

Nets can get more “sure things” to surround KD with. Can’t think an expiring and future firsts do anything for KD and a team devoid of depth.

He’s not Kyrie

We only have a shot at Kyrie because he brings so much baggage that moat teams have no interest

Conversely, teams have already inquired about KD- and everyone will be able to offer substantially more for him than we can.

We’re not even in the ball park of what it would take go get him.

Shit, I’m not convinced they’d take AD for him.

I actually think Brooks did the Cavs a favor because I was calling for Donovan to sit; he's not quite recovered yet. That still was some bullshit Brooks did.

Cavs win in a blowout, which was good to see. Really, good to see them get an expected win where they had a real advantage (both JJJ and Adams out, which meant Evan and Jarrett were going to eat - and they did).

Been a while since we've seen that.

Ja is still a problem, making impossible shots. Aldama is a pain in the ass.

LOL @ the Wolves and Magic getting into a fight. Austin "OG Andrew Tate" Rivers got at Bamba, but then Jalen Suggs tossed his ass right after.

i wonder if durant has any say on the trade considering he has to play with whatever players they get back.

assuming russ is part of the deal...would kd be cool with playing out the rest of the year with him?

if the nets really wanna still be viable this year and also get something for the future...the clippers seem like the most obvious frontrunner. really the biggest thing propping up the lakers is that it seems to be kyries preferred destination...even tho the clippers are clearly a better team already and in the same city.

Pelinka didn’t want to come up off those 2 unprotected picks.
He is going to get fried….

That’s why the Nets preferred what the Mavs put on the table. To pass up
on Westbrook’s expiring contract says a lot!

Also, I don’t think Kevin was open to playing with Westbrook again.

They are in full rebuild mode now.

They got two picks on top of the bodies they are getting.

Westbrook, picks and another body…Nets would have down that deal.

An auto 47 million off the books! Who is passing that up?

It had to be about those picks.

KD will not be there next season.

Lakers offered both picks:

https://twitter.com/chrisbhaynes/status/1622416002922450945?s=46&t=djNNefEKW7GVxYo76dI98w

Joe Tsai- thankfully- made it a point not to send him to the Lakers:

https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/10064358-report-nets-joe-tsai-didnt-want-to-trade-kyrie-irving-to-lakers-prior-to-mavs-deal.amp.html

I mean, you’re usually wrong to the point of being completely backward, but goddamn

I had a source for the comment. That’s how the fuck it works, Focker.

>“ Nope, Lakers didn’t want to sign him long term.”

Here you go, Focker:

https://hoopshype.com/2023/02/05/lakers-only-willing-to-send-huge-trade-offer-to-nets-if-kyrie-irving-agrees-to-two-year-extension-not-four-year/

They also didn’t want to include Reaves or Christie.

Guess what?

Unlike your comment, these are facts in addition to what i said- not in contradiction.

But that wasn’t the reason…

That was a guess/presumption from a so called source.

Just like your previous source that stated it was a presumption.

“According to NBA reporter Marc Stein, "one of the PRESUMED objectives" for Tsai was to move Irving somewhere other than "his preferred destination"

Those are not facts. You do know what presumed means don’t you?

You crack me up….

Especially at YOU have a source. Get your Chris Broussard ass outta here.

You stated it as fact… one sentence is what you typed.

It’s clearly stated in the article presumed….clearly.. which I
copied and pasted.

You sourced an article that had a source giving a presumption.

The original one in particular

And made a beeline toward the kinda-sorta gotcha on the least significant of all of them?

There's a reason for that, Focker

I can accept and admit that I was too hasty to post up the Joe Tsai shit, but that's still more credible than you saying the Lakers wouldn't offer two picks- which is directly contradicted by the other link I posted, just as your bullshit chest thumping about the long term deal was shot down with another link.

That said, it's crystal clear why you ignored those in favor of the Joe Tsai bit. You're just a dishonest interlocutor.

are going to be off the fucking charts in Dallas.

Anyone not named Luka or Kyri isn't seeing the ball again.

What an odd move by Dallas.

Lakers dodged one here. So did the Clippers.

There had to be moves out there for Dallas that would have made more sense.

Between this and various moves over the years (like blowing up a title team) its glaringly obvious that Cuban isn't the owner he thinks he is....

They are 3 games off the play-in zone and bring it hard every night.

Young, athletic, offensive and defensive skills..

They just lack experience and maturity.

They already got some contender bodies on their resume.

They’ve beaten the Warriors twice…suns, clippers, sixers
and they’ve beaten the Celtics 3 times!

But AD,plus 47 mill of the books. That’s huge in my opinion.

You clear some serious cap space. Plus you get a mega asset that you can flip.

But at the same time that would be cheating.

KD, Bron, and Kyrie?

Same squad?

I would leave this board and never watch basketball again. Lol

It doesn’t appear that any trades are on the horizon.

So the focus should be on finishing the season as strong as possible,
and make moves in the off season.

More than likely we will not get anything in return for Vuch… There is no huge
demand for a center, especially one who lacks defense and the ability to protect
the rim.

Possibly the worst trade in Bulls history

Jackson and Covington….how are you not going to offer them a PG or
some type of scoring talent in return?

Clippers really fumbled that.

early in the season he was touted as part of the Clippers' vaunted depth, now they appear ready to move on...

It was a "I mean, could this get worse?"

Which - probably not. But giving up a first to offload Russ for, at best, a lateral move was never the play. Some people thought, "It could be better than what this is now...", but I don't think it was ever seen as a "major upgrade"

Like he was snubbed for 2ish years (eventually getting in as a replacement I think?) while being the DPOY favorite. I guess giving Memphis a 2nd all star - this makes sense but...others deserved it more.

Mostly because I'm afraid he'll get hurt

But to say that guys putting up 24/6/4 "don't have a significant case" against a guy putting up 16/6 is absurd, even with the shot blocking

The Kings are third in the west Fox is a HUGE reason why, and their leading scorer.

It's absurd to put JJJ in over him.

because he has barely played this season.. same for JJJ.

Neither are deserving.

53 games in the season so far, and AD has played in 56 pct of them…
30 games….36 games for JJJ

Availability is a part of being a player, too.

Nets went small and the Clippers went with Kawhi, Paul George, Reggie Jackson, Norm Powell and platooned Batum/Zubac.

The Nets had the momentum and the Clippers just threw a blanket over it and snatched the game away.

Given the precarious state of Kawhi's ankles/knees, you can't really see them winning anything, but I guarantee they are going to have some Western Conference team's fans throwing shit at the TV during the playoffs. They are definitely a team that can beat anyone when it doesn't really REALLY matter.

but they are just about as deep this year.

I didn't think they had it all together before last year. But health remains their main problem.

You have one dude who is Tracy McGrady 2.0 and the other a ruthless closer/stopper in Kawhi, both who are one bad step away from blowing it all up. So I can't take them serious but shit, they are entertaining when all the pieces are available.

kerr continues to shit on homie for no good reason just for some arbitrary experimental lineup.

kuminga is playing better as the season goes on. but he cant replace looneys rebounding and defense in the paint...and def aint setting screens within the flow of the offense and running high action like loon.

he turns into a pumpkin, seemingly on purpose (???), if he's not starting.

but if he starts, Looney doesn't, which fucks up the Warriors on most nights.

now, that being said, it would be cool if Steph could up his game at this stage of his career, specifically his decision making.

..The trade deadline post is an annual tradition here, so g'head and keep the party goin' fam.

The current NBA monthly threads are a direct result of our natural ebb & flow during the regular season. There will undoubtedly be a lull during the All Star Break, followed by a blitz down the stretch as teams race to qualify for the playoffs. Feel free to pull the trigger on part 2/3/etc as needed.

Thanks again.

They stopped the game when Rickey got the SB record. And when Ripken got the most consecutive games played record. I’m pretty sure they did too when McGwire first passed Maris for the single season HR record.

They paused for a few minutes before they ran another play.

actually last I was more worried about players getting tight and needing to re-stretch or warm-up to prevent injuring themselves. Bron appeared to have a foot issue at the end and took himself out of the game and we know AD is always a threat to get injured

when Emmitt broke the rushing record they only paused for few minutes, I don't remember any game stoppages for any of Brady's records.

In baseball if its a humerun there's an extended curtain call but that's semi-normal. They definetly don't stop any ptichers in the middle of a record performance.

Everybody remembers when Ricky Henderson won the stolen base record and picked up the base but that was rare.

several minutes had a full blown press conference on the court/field with the commisioner, family, friends and celebrities congratulating the athlete.

I apoligize the to semantics police for not asking the question to their standards i know ceetain people are quick to pop out of nowhere to debate ThaTruth irrelevant to the discussion and that's fine but honestly I was more concerned about the health of our players rather than proving anybody right or wrong.

I was all for LeBron breaking the record but i was more concerned about the Lakers winning the actual game as we're now looking up at OKC in standings.

needing to stretch-out and/or warm-up after and extended stoppage and I was wondering how often that came in to play. Someone brought up Emmitt breaking the rushing record but it didn't seem as elaborate and staged as last night was.

get called into a game.

You;'ll see some guys who are nursing/recovering from injuries ride a bike when they aren't in the game but that's the exception.

Playing and then not playing for like 10-15 minutes or even longer is pretty normal for athletes

The ingame celebrations/stoppages are silly to me also but it isn't a player safety concern lol

1. The most likely - he's hurt again and incredibly depressed about it.
2. He knows Bron's out after this year. Wouldn't be surprising.
3. He wanted (and honestly should have been) to be on the floor with Bron for the shot.
4. He's getting traded. This seems the most unlikely.

Would explain why he was so out of it mentally all game & Bron trying to reassure him that he loves him.

during his ESPN postgame interview.

I think it would have slipped through the cracks had the interviewer not highlight
it.

I had no idea that dudes were still saying that…I thought it died out by 2018…
I guess the new generation picked it back up.

Funny how they fined him exactly 40,000 in reference to his recent 40 point
scoring spree

If I’m not mistaken Jokic was fined 25,000 for saying it it back in 2018.

theres no magic happening to finish the season. theyre lucky to get in and get past the play-in round.

celts won so its a moot point in the grand scheme of things.

but dude puts up a lot of these '0 field goals in the 2nd half', '2 shots taken in the 4th quarter', etc lines when the bright lights are on.

its not even just a bad shooting night. dude just disappears on offense too much for a player of his skill level.

and you cant even blame it on jaylen brown just getting most of the touches late in the game. he didnt even play this game and the same shit happened.

to continue to jack up outside to mid-range jumpers even if his shot isn't falling instead of posting up or driving to the hole to either make layups or even better, draw fouls to get easier points at the free throw line.

I wonder if he'll make that adjustment to his game next season. Something I've noticed since last year even though he's improved greatly.

it's a shame that they're in 13th place. Adding Rui, somehow turning Russ and a 1st into Beasley/Vanderbilt/D-Lo, turning Beverley into Bamba...

now the Lakers have some more quality wing players, a quality backup big to replace the one who wanted traded out (Bryant), a guard less problematic than Russ, and shooting.

VS Warriors game was way different to watch (esp. on defense) vs. OKC.

OKC game was straight up terrorism on either side of the ball, esp. when LeBron was not on the court.

LeBron didn't score a point after breaking the record, Russ almost brought them back singlehandedly

But the hole just might be too big to climb out of. I expect they make the play in, especially with Utah clearly tanking to get OUT of the play in...but some of those close losses really hurt right now.

Even with injuries, I'm not sure if they can catch the Warriors or Pelicans. The Wolves have it tough too. I dunno, West is gonna be a bloodbath from here on out.

Anyway - if nothing else, this sets them up decently for next year. Bron will be a year older, but...whatever man, we'll see.

he's elite offensively but a liability on defense at this point and that area is what's going to be the downfall of this team, evryone is celebrating moving Westbrook and Beverly but a bad defensive team got worse and we don't have the firepower to score with the top teams in the west

You can't have a "downfall" of a team who's the 13th seed at the all star break, lmao.

Vanderbilt is a better defensive player than Westbrook and Pat Bev combined at this point.

This team got better. Don't know if it'll be enough to make the playoffs, but I'm absolutely not worried about "firepower to score with the top teams of the West". They've gotta move up to the damn 10th seed first.

of LeBron and AD, we won in 2020 because we surrounded those guys with defensive-minded role-players we didn't have any great shooters then.

Westbrook was a convenient scapegoat the last couple of years that they don't have now.

..in basketball (lol).

F'real, though. The Lakers did exactly what they set out to do from the start of the season:

• Figure out how to best utilize the current roster (with a few tweaks along the way).

OR

• Find the best trade available that maximizes all assets.

No real surprise, given the market. However, I was doubtful that they'd somehow manage to bring back Dangelo Russell and end up with even more assets and draft capital. The cap/luxury tax relief was an added bonus. Say what you want about Pelinka, but this looks good on his part.

*Hachimura is proving to be a great fit and they now have a capable balance. What happens next is entirely up to them.

and that was w/out Lebron and they won the game.

not saying they have enough to win a ring by any means (i mean, maybe just on some anything is possible plus you got Bron and AD), but i think w/ the changes they made that if they can't get into the playoffs then that's a big ouch, assuming everyone is relatively healthy the rest of the way.

In response to Reply # 0

of this team this season.

whenever they have a big lead...you know theyre gonna eventually let the team back in through several stretches of poor defense, fouling, turnovers, and stagnant offense.

its just a matter of how bad the collapse will be.

they might still win in the end (like tonight) but theyre gonna make it harder on themselves than it should be.

i honestly have no answers. and apparently steve kerr doesnt either.

kyrie had them dudes balling. luka comes back and things look clunky at times. you can tell luka is tryna get his first then worry about the rest of the team.

i think the others actually like playing with kyrie more than luka. ky just flows better with the offense, gets the ball in peoples hands earlier in the shot clock, penetrates and hits cutters better, etc.

All those "Luka doesnt have help" people look dumb. He's a ball dominant player that you cant build a championship team around. He will always get his stats, but the players around him wont get better.
