"Am I the only one who isn’t impressed by Tony Romo in the booth? "
He’s decent but folks act like a recently retired QB predicting plays is genius.
That shit is annoying.
I heard he wants 10 mill a year.

Chris "Mad Dog" Russo hates him too. I listen once in a while on XM radio and he can't stand Romo but said he was okay during Super Bowl, wants him to shut the hell up most the time. lol

Chris Collinaeorth is the only one I recognize since he only does NBC games.
Everyone else is whatever.
Only one who truly sucked was Dennis Miller and Witten.
Back in the day Deion Sanders called a game and I thought he was awesome but folks hated him.

>I used to find his voice annoying but once I got past that >he's actually very insightful. He often sees things before the >replay starts.
That's exactly what I was referring to in my response below - the stuff he already knows about before the replay even starts. It's better than the analysis any other broadcast offers.

He has cringeworthy moments but it's hard not to when you're on as long as he has been. And like you said, he's far and away the best color guy in the game. He actually provides some keen analysis which is sorely missing from most other broadcasts, and he catches a lot of in-game stuff that I'd otherwise miss. I've always really liked him.
As for Romo, I'm in the "he's good considering his limited experience" camp and I think once he cleans it up a little bit he can actually be great. But the "ooohhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhh" stuff during replays is definitely a little obnoxious.

I really like Ian Eagle and Fouts.
ESPN on the other hand has always been awful. i cant remember his name, I think it was Mike Patrick... he still does college games bc he probably has dirt on the espn ceo.

but I thought he was solid.
Also could be because Witten was trash.
Real talk tho. I rarely give a shit about who calls a game. Half the time I turn it down or I’m yelling at the screen.

Let the viewers try to watch the play as it happens, then you can give your analysis. This nerd gets giddy telling everyone what the play is gonna be, what audible was just called, drawing diagrams on the screen mid-play and shit. And if that wasn't enough he tells you the penalty before the ref does. No one saw Dee Ford jump offside... that was one of the most suspenseful penalty calls in history and this non-super bowl appearing dweeb had to spoil it for millions.

We know you played Tony.

player ---> broadcasters.
If he never gets better, that's one thing, but he's got potential. That can be a hard route to travel. See Jason Witten, or (dating myself here) the one year Joe Montana tried to do TV.

he was one of the better analysts in football in his first year on the job. if he's asking $10M, it's because Fox or ESPN will probably offer it. he's gonna get paid.
And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

He’s exposing how toast some of the other dudes are. He’s a sharp enough dude. He played recently so he knows the concepts and plays folks use the hell out of right now. I enjoy the seemingly earnest love he has for watching and color commentating.
At this point, he’s the only commentator I pay any real attention to. A bunch of those others are just reading stats and paying back old favors.
