"Brad Stephens been the worst coach in the league this year."
Wed Feb-27-19 07:36 AM by bshelly

Everyone here agrees that Remain in Light is one of the top ten albums ever, right? The first four songs are the best four-song run on any album ever.

all these people getting fried now and all these people gettin cysed now...don't actually matter until playoffs.

because the people gettin cysed gettin fried and the people gettin fried gon get cysed.

two of kyrie, kawhi, embid, giannis are NOT gon be in the conference finals. and two of them already have a ring and get to pick the best situation for themseleves this summer. so, SOMEBODIES are gonna get REALLY fried and have a LOOOONG summer.

y'all mull that and act accordingly moving forward, because that's ALL i been thinking about

Boston has under-performed this year its all about Kyrie and Hayward "fitting in" and you hardly hear a peep about Stevens

It's a fantastic album. I tend not to like their studio stuff in favor of watching/listening to Stop Making Sense all the time... but this album is top-notch. I gotta revisit it soon.

Not just for the whole Kyrie agenda (as those agendas may not overlap in the near future), but because if Duke fans think Brad Stevens is available to return to college, they are going to be *insufferable* about insisting that he be K's heir, when (a) I don't think Stevens will return to college, so it's a moot point, (b) I don't think Duke will hire someone outside of the Duke family, so again, moot point, and (c) I really want Capel to get first crack at the job.

There were no doubt chemistry issues across the board, but aaaaaaanyone who watched the Celtics this year knows that Terry was 100% all about "lemme get mine" when he was in the game. And he was very ungood all year. Negative BPM. Second worst VORP of the major guys (only Jaylen Brown's was worse). WORST On/Off numbers of any major contributors, and almost the worst on the team *period.* Under five assists *per 36 minutes.*

Celtics should've traded him when they had the chance last offseason. They wouldn't get shit for him today.

edit: also LMAO @ this response to another of Terry's chest-puffing comments: https://twitter.com/CobyMonSta/status/1126392627157291009

Like, if Lillard or Wall or whatever wanna go at him, I’ll sit that out. But how are you gonna be the least efficient player on your team, make them worse by all possible metrics, and then bitch about how you’re *not* the problem? This dude called himself a “top point guard.” He shoots 38% and averages under 5 assists per 36 minutes, lmao.

What do you think Stevens could have done differently?

Are there strategies and schemes that could have resolved the locker room issues?

There were adjustments...moving Brown and Hayward to the bench...and it looked like BOS turned the corner during the middle of the season...

...then the AD trade rumors put the locker room back in turmoil...

BOS did sweep a capable IND team...Stevens gets no credit there...?

I don't think Stevens was the issue vs MIL.

BOS shot 45 and 40% vs IND
BOS shot 40 and 30% vs MIL

...Stevens fault these fools couldn't get buckets...?

don't lie, anybody in here bashing stevens was nervous AF after that first game. they lost this series for the same reasons they underachieved all year, and that is that you had conflicting factions on the roster. you had guys coming back who weren't at their best (hayward not even close) trying to assume their roles/positions. you had guys who played over their heads who were unwilling to get back in their lane. they had a lot of pieces but few if any of them fit together. they had weak leadership on the roster.

but hey, if they wanna fire brad stevens, great, i'd be fucking thrilled to see him leave boston and even more thrilled to see him replace brett brown. it's funny that shells made this thread. meanwhile brett sits there flummoxed and can't figure out why the fuck his whole team can *still* go dead out of nowhere and why they are just staring blankly at each other instead of stepping up for JoJo.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

In proper context, Stephens has done a helluva coaching job in BOS

Stevens was brought in after they dump errybody post big 3 and rebuild

Makes the playoffs every year

The team has been flipped a couple of times since he took the job

Still makes the playoffs

And we’ve been led to believe Ainge was a genius stockpiling assets...that can’t play together

They might lose Irving for nothing, that's true, but it's hard to say definitively that they should have moved him. Other than that everyone is still under contract and other than possibly Tatum I don't think there are any players that GMs were gassed over after last year's playoffs. Nobody was like OH SHIT ROZIER BALLED OUT, HERE'S FITTY PIECES OF SILVER.

Isn't that the assumption though

Rozier balled out with 'Rie out of the 18' playoffs

That's an easy sell high, and I'm sure somebody would have taken the bait

Came in this year, forced into an exclusively backup role with 'Rie healthy this year, and playing for a contract (qualifying offer)

Out of all of the problems they had, that one seemed easiest to remedy

Now, with all of the chemistry issues, they're kinda forced to make a trade

No way they can bring errybody back

Heyward = $30M
Horford = $30M (if he opts in, don't know why he wouldn't)

BOS basically has to trade 'Rie with Tatum or Brown

i.e. Ainge is having his hand forced instead of negotiating from a place of leverage

Leverage that he seemed to have last year...before all the kings men...couldn't put the celtics back together again

If 'Rie walks/opts out...I can't imagine a top FA going to BOS after this disaster of a season

Plus, it was known this team was having issues and he's done little to adjust this year. That's where the criticism is valid.

If you're going to reap all the benefit you need to accept some of the blame.

Make no mistake, I am very disappointed in this Celtics team. Brad deserves blame. Kyrie deserves blame. The young guys deserve blame. Plenty of blame to go around and plenty of questions we need answering.

And yet, the one fanbase who shouldn't be talking shit is the one fanbase talking the most shit. Y'all are in the same boat as us Philly.

Those were always Hayward's minutes

Another way to look at it...guys got more minutes last year because Hayward missed the whole year

I'm saying...we're going to escapegoat a career starter 30+mpg...taking a reserve role...?

Because Brown and Smart got 5 less mpg this year

Naaah...some bullshit IMO

That team was stuck on bitch all year.

Shoulda played better...the opportunity to ball was not taken from them.

jaylen and hayward played well together and jaylen was super positive about it all season.

*shrugs* new team, new offseason. we'll see what happens next year. it's make or break for stephens' rep, imo. back to the type of unproven group he has thrived with before.

Rozier, Brown are decent role players not even on Harrison Barnes level.
Tatum might be on Harrison Barnes level but he hasn't done anything to prove he's a dominant player. They will be a second round team for years to come. LeBron embarrassed them in that game 7 all by himself a couple of years ago. Too bad Kyrie is going to pretty much have the same type of talent in Brooklyn
