2) he actually hasn't been a problem recently.
-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

- no star power in the East - Knicks trade Porzingis to free up max money... - ...at the same time Kevin Durant is coming up in FA - and Dolan is gonna sell NOW?
Dude, isn’t the league involved in this somehow? Doesn’t it make sense for the league to encourage Dolan to sell, get paid, and then they can FINALLY set up the New York major market outpost they’ve always dreamt of? They tried it with the frozen lottery envelope, but this is even more nefarious. This plan can’t fail. It’s materializing right in front of our eyes.
The Knicks - yes the KNICKS - are poised to be a prime player and THE destination on the East coast here very shortly.

The league's interest, viewership and merchandising, is doing fine in NYC with two lump franchises plodding along. Short of allowing player-ownership and starting with a totally clean slate, Dolan/Phil down, there is no way for the league to fix this in the modern free agency era. KD's ego is the only thing that could swing things a bit and even then, under current management, do you trust them to build anything adequate around him? And who is this potential owner that will meet Dolan's insane valuation of a tenant franchise?
