i mean, i seriously don't think there's anything anyone could do that we haven't seen.
we've kind of hit a peak in human athleticism (for now, who knows what the future holds) in the last few years to where the only thing you can even try to do to spice it up is try to dunk OVER something new or use some other kind of prop.
all of the NBA dunkers are doing dunks in the contest that the "professional dunker" guys are doing and if any "innovation" in dunking is gonna come about it's gonna come from there where that's all they get paid to do.
NOW, the only thing I can really think of to spice up the dunk contest RIGHT TODAY is to pit the league's best dunkers against the league's best shot blockers. that could be dope because everyone likes to see someone get dunked on AND everyone likes to see a dunk get blocked...BUT then who is gonna actually volunteer to potentially be posterized except for the guys w/ so much self confidence they think they'll block any dunk attempt.

I think dude from Atlanta was the only starter in the contest. When the running joke among the announcers is nobody knows who these guys are its not a good look.
Star players have no problem doing the 3 point shootout but are scared to be shown up in the dunk contest.
