Vince Carter got himself a second career by accepting a lesser role. The league wants Melo gone but I want him to stay. He could be a great mentor to Cedi, Colin, etc.
The rest of the league doesn't view him as a top level player so accept a lesser role like VC. He'd start occasionally on the Cavs and get more minutes than he bargained for if, by some miracle Thibs came here. We'd let him dominate the ball on our second unit.
Right today this is just wishful thinking but I hope it comes true.

He won't sell tickets for a bad team and he won't contribute in any meaningful way to a good one. He is basically like Glenn Robinson at the ass end of his career. Some team will probably sign him to waive a towel as he does have some friends around the league, but I don't see why they'd be in any rush to do it. Roster space is an issue for the Lakers, who'd be the most likely, plus they aren't exactly contending (yet).
