The comic (my college and law school classmate) I think was more put off that they shut down all communications with him. The same way they requested him taking down the rendition of the anthem, they could have reached out and let him know.

That, and Ryan biting his joke, along with no one from the show ever acknowledging him any more, is what has him suspicious.
