Oak27 out in front with Af-1 and Max_Ptah on his heels.

Oak, Tiger, and KC all tied for the Summerslam win.

Also, I'm going to BOLA this weekend!

Do they want Charlotte to have the belt for Evolution, or do they want the moment of her winning the title back for the fade-out? Joe's been doing great work, and could really shake up the main event scene on Smackdown, but AJ has been a safe pair of hands with that belt. New Day are great, and Rusev's pushes always get halted before he lights the world up, but at the same time, New Day don't really NEED the titles to be awesome, and the crowd LOVE the whole Rusev Day deal.

Mind-boggling too that the two secondary titles aren't being defended. Thanks to the based god for a short card and all that, but the Revival could have done the job to Strowman's goons -- even by DQ so you can still set up, idk, Shield and Angle versus Braun, Drew, Ziggler and Bray/Corbin for Survivor Series.

I was convinced Joe was going to take the title in this feud but now I'm coming round to the idea that Miz will be the one to dethrone AJ setting up for DB at Mania.

Becky/Charlotte is again a really tough one!

My gut is this, but also Becky is getting cheered right now so maybe they want that to be the big Evolution moment. I think the most effective move for (what seem to be) their long-term plans is:

A) Have Charlotte and Becky have an even match where Charlotte has to resort to putting her feet on the ropes to win.

B) Have Becky win the title at Evolution and get those cheers.

C) At Survivor Series Ronda beats Becky.

D) Charlotte gets the title back in December or January.

E) Charlotte and Ronda headline Mania 35.

New Day are great, and Rusev's

I'd prefer a Rusev Day win here, but I think they finally pull the trigger on kicking Aiden out of the group. Then again, they've teased the Sasha/Bayley feud about a million times and haven't pulled the trigger, so who knows?

>Mind-boggling too that the two secondary titles aren't being
>defended.

Right? The IC title I kinda get cause these dudes keep distracting Rollins (though I'd like to see more open challenges on Raw), but it feels like Shinsuke has been off TV since he won the damn title. More than that, no one else on the SD roster cares about chasing that title.

And Summerslam was the first PPV I watched since Mania. And I’ve watched Smackdown 2-3 times for the first time since last fall.

She’s boring. Boring talker, boring in the ring, small moveset. Ken Shamrock was never pushed above everyone else. He had his niche and it was cool enough. That should be the goal for Ronda. Once the novelty wears off there’s gotta be some substance.

Sasha, Bayley, and Asuka should all be higher on the card. Maybe some of these new women too.

And maybe even Bliss and Carmella. Not the greatest wrestlers but at least they can talk and wrestle actual matches(sell, so more than 2 moves, interact with the crowd effectively, etc.)

The Brock formula where the MMA person squashes the opponent using the same 2 moves and sells nothing is so awful.

You admittedly haven't watched.

At Mania her match stole the show and she was a true star in the ring.

Her match vs Nia at MITB was great, what makes her work in the ring is she actually knows how to make a sell look real.

She sucks on the mic for sure and hopefully that can be worked on, but her matches feel like big deals and she has a natural it factor in the ring.

I tried to hate her in WWE but she's a star.

when the rest of the division wears much glossier stuff that plays better with the lighting and cameras. It's essentially the female version of Stone Cold's no-nonsense shooter boots and black trunks, but it stands out even more because NO ONE else does that with their gear.

Yeah, not much.

Honestly remember Stephanie’s antics and incredible amount of cheating more than anything. It was an entertaining match and Ronda did her part, but I thought that one was a great team effort led by the heels.

>Her match vs Nia at MITB was great, what makes her work in the

Will check for that now that I’ve got the Network again.

She’s an impressive athlete. I hated that Bliss squash at SS.

>I tried to hate her in WWE but she's a star.

I’ve got no problem with her. Hope I can like her in WWE. I’ll give that Nia match a shot.

I fantasy booked that Michaels would cost Taker the match to Hunter so Taker challenges HBK at Mania which Michaels eventually accepts on the condition that Taker puts his career on the line. Ultimately I figured it would be Taker's official retirement match.

That Saudi money is real though. Can't think how much they're paying him for it. Brock too.

Give two awesome wrestlers time to tell a story, give it the simple build of “who’s better” and let them go. Even the run-in was great because both guys had priors with the dickheads (and I mean that in the nicest way possible - those dickheads are great)that did it.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the match and think NXT is the best thing going, but it's way different putting on a great 20-25 minute match in a 60 minute show than it is in a 180 minute show.

NXT does a way better job of telling stories and making you care about feuds, no doubt there, but outside of that part you really can't compare the product to the main roster product because it's just apples and oranges.

So the live crowd, that's creating the feedback loop for the wrestlers, is having a similar experience to a crowd sitting there for Raw.

Yes, for the TV audience later, it's half the show, which makes the show awesome. I get that.

But to your other point, it boggles the mind how NXT can switch people in and out and keep stories fresh while Raw just condenses and consolidates everything around two factions all the damn time. Even if they did something as rigid as split each roster into A group and B Group, and just alienated groups every week, it would open up opportunities for guys that Kreative "can't find anything for." And it would keep the established guys fresh if they cut their bookings in half.

The whole point of the Yes! Kicks is to give the crowd a set piece for the chant. Plus you have to let your opponent sell each one.

In response to Reply # 39

Like what they're doing teaming Gedo with Jay White but not blowing their load by having it with Okada yet. I expect them to go over.

Golden Lovers match seems legit too, but I've seen them in Long Beach before. At this point I'd rather have a Omega main event that is one on one, but I think they treat these US shows as slightly below their big Japanese ones so I can't complain. Feels like they try to squeeze everyone on the card that they can. Keep keep going back to cali for em though. Happy they're teaming with ROH this April and coming to New York so I don't have to go as far.

Finally a live show at a reasonable time this weekend lol.

They've shown time and time again they don't care about long term storytelling and they'll quickly change someone between good and bad at will without any explanation. They fully expect the crowd to not care because most of them don't, or the audience they're trying to appeal to have short attention spans.

all of the SmackDown titles will be defended, and none of the Raw titles are at risk.

That bothers me.

Why put all of your title holders in tag matches against each other? Unless they are really gonna turn Ambrose, the match is useless. Rousey gets carried through another lame match. But of course we get the thoroughly entertaining geriatric extravaganza HHH vs Undertaker. YAWN

The SD matches are all retreads...Styles/Joe...Lynch vs Flair...Coon Day vs The Bar...and of course Nakamura vs...oh wait, he's not on the card for a second PPV in a row.

I was just confused when I saw it on the spreadsheet. Didn't see the PPV and when I checked the results it threw me off a bit.

Frankly, I don't think Ric is close as an in-ring performer (though Ric certainly eclipses Shawn as a character), and Shawn's only real comp in that department is Angle, Eddie, and AJ.

I was ok with the cheesy Dad-DX era because he was still a premier performer.

He had two definitive career chapters, that, if each were taken on their own, still sons most wrestlers entire careers.and still beats out plenty of greats.

When taken as a whole, his in-ring career has a ridiculously short list of competitors.

As far as career endings go, he went out at a point in his career, with a pair of matches that I have a hard time finding a parallel. Even his retirement participation in the HHH/Taker was done in a way that told story compelling enough to actually add to his career.

The only guys in the biz I revere on a level anywhere close to him are Angle and Bret.

I could live with the DX/NWO/Sting fuckery, though I hated it.

But coming back for an actual match, just to join forces with Hunter? In a match with Taker and Kane?

With this current roster, and a guy he accurately pegged as the right guy to come back for in Joe on the roster?

With a guy like Dolph there, damaged as he is?

I think he should stay fully retired from wrestling matches, either way, but this is the exact wrong thing to return for.

This shit is man-tits era Hogan, or couch leather man-tits Ric Flair levels of unwanted, at least for me.

Flair didn't get the chance that Shawn did in his late 30s and 40s to steal the show, because the show was all about the nWo, and if they weren't on screen, it was about the other characters wondering where the nWo was. (Plus, he might have been coasting at that time).

Also, agree that this is just dumb dumb dumb.

In response to Reply # 73

Clearly it isn't going to happen now but his prediction was that Michaels would come back and have a match with Ciampa at Takeover for Mania weekend. He put out a good case about if he ever came back then NXT is where his heart would lay seeing as those are the guys he's now working with all the time and it's something that would make a lot of sense.

I don't know if that match (or an NXT match in general) was ever on the table but it would've been amazing if it were the case.

I'm actually becoming really worried about the influence of that Saudi dollar - apparently that pay day is what's brought him out of retirement. They're practically bookers now.

didn't know if it was true or not.

The current rumour is that they've offered 20 million to have The Rock appear at the show next year as CHAMP. No idea on whether that's true but time will tell I guess. Thinking about it, why wouldn't they pay loads to at least see Rock in the ring?!

I'd be totally happy with Michaels coming back to be the old head that NXT talent has to beat to get the final go-ahead. Especially the way they're booking Adam Cole as a thorn in Regal's side, setting up new HBK against old HBK would be a delight.

That was done to death from 2002-2004. I just don’t see any point in revisiting that now. I agree, if HBK wrestles beyond this geriatric division tag match, it should be against one of the many younger wrestler that can go and that would benefit from it.

But it's also taking up more time on Raw than everything but the Shield angle. Granted, it's been well-written whereas most of Raw is not, but for me it takes a bit of the air out of it when the active roster is as talented as it's ever been.

If they're going to test out true intergender wrestling (because a) cmon, you KNOW we're not leaving Rousey/HHH on the table for Mania and b) that's GOTTA be what the MMC was building toward), that whole NXT opening segment is the place to start.

2) God DAMN was that Ricochet/Dunne/Cole match great.

Chikara and LU have both had female champions and it was great. There was even a indie show mania weekend with a theme of all intergender matches. They're always well-booked, don't make the guy look like shit, and rarely come across as an unfair fight.

Me and my friends constantly fantasy book a build to Charlotte winning the WWE or Universal title. It'd make for a fantastic Mania moment, would provide great publicity, and would make a bigger statement than all the "firsts" they keep touting*. I don't think she'd look out-of-place at all against most of the top guys. Just don't book Brock and Braun to throw around ladies all willy nilly and you'll be fine. It'd open up a lot of possibilities, even for the smaller women who they'd never put up against the Romans of the world. Can you imagine a Sasha vs. Finn feud? Could be very entertaining.

*it'd piss off Saudi royalty though so they'll never do it

because they are doing the old folks rebirth on the Evolution card for the ladies.

You have Sasha, Bayley, Asuka, Naomi, Ember Moon, and a boatload of younger talent, and they headline with Trish Stratus, Lita, and the Bellas??It's bad enough that they put the belt on Rousey for no other reason than her name is Rousey, but to go out of your way to shit on the entire womens' roster makes no sense to me at all. They worked hard to shed the "Diva" image, to be recognized as wrestlers, then celebrate it by going to the retirement home and bringing in the Diva era stars...SMH.

I really have no interest in this PPV unless they announce some serious matches, and I've only sen four matches announced so far (RAW title, SD title, Mae Young final, and Bliss/Thickie James vs the Geezers). For a PPV announced months ago, they seem to be very last minute on putting this together.

Am I nuts??

Trish Stratus wrestling in 2018 is not as stupid as a DX vs Taker/Kane match. In theory, getting so many people involved in such a landmark show makes sense.

My issue is just that all of these girls today are *way* better than Trish Stratus or any of her peers were. Like, Ivory was good...but Charlotte is the best talent in the company. At no point could you have ever made that kind of claim for Lita or Trish Stratus. Even AJ Lee, I know people loved her, but she doesn't hold a candle to Becky Lynch or Asuka or Charlotte in the ring.

So my gripe is not that they're trotting out all of these women from years ago. It's that, if we're being honest, those women weren't really that special to begin with...and asking them to go in these big spots when they haven't gone consistently in years just confuses me.

PS: if they don't somehow acknowledge Chyna as part of this show that's bogus. For all the credit they give Lita and Trish Stratus, Chyna was the first true female attraction on the show.

And Charlotte's whiffing-ass moonsault keeps her from being the best IMO. It'd be one thing if it was a special thing, but she does it EVERY DAMN MATCH and always lands standing next to her opponent. Becky's also much more natural on the mic.

Me and the kid are going, should be a blast. We did a Ring of Honor show over the weekend in Baltimore so this has been one hell of a wrestling week for us.

I really hope The Rock shows up but with Undertaker being there I'm cool with that too. I do hope there are enough matches though and not just fluff the entire time.

the ring work was good from day one, that wasn't gonna be the issue

but she showed some actual fire, had articulate points, and got the program over by herself. And she's RIGHT. She's been here like 9 months and she's eons better than either of the Bellas have ever been.

Rousey does nothing for me.

Full disclosure: I hold something against her for being given the title basically without any singles matches, using only a couple of tag matches where she was carried and her Strikeforce/UFC rep.

Now, that said...she doesn't impress me in ring. She is athletic, so the few moves she uses look decent, but the move set is extremely limited, and she is stiff IMO. There is no storytelling in her matches...she shows up smiling, then instantly puts on her grumpy face, judo throw, armbar, tap out, then smiley face returns. Her emotions aren't convincing to me, very much contrived.

On the mic...ugh. she can't speak two lines without stumbling, and she sounds like a 10 year old that has to recite a speech...rushing through it with no authenticity. Last night's promo with the Bellas (I was there in the cheap seats) with the exception of the line about Cena bedroom door, was terrible. The Bellas didn't help her any, because they stink too, but man, if you barely work in ring and suck on the mic, why are you the champion?? Asuka came in undefeated with a streak that lasted forever, after holding (and never losing) the NXT belt, she was super over, and she couldn't get a sniff at the title. I'm guessing that is partly Vince and his "anyone not white has no shot to headline" mode, but damn, Asuka did all of that and is now almost buried while Rousey tap dances in and grabs the belt from Bliss.

I think Rousey could develop to be good if she trained and worked at it, but I have no reason to think that she'll be around for more than a year, so if this is what she is, this makes the womens division look weak and shades out all the hard workers on the roster.

Mania was entertaining, but Steph and HHH carried that.

They jumped the gun on her being champ. I’m bored already. I said this a few weeks ago. I’ve watched some of her stuff that I had missed. Eh.

Respectfully I have to disagree with you about Mania. I give unlimited credit to Hunter, who I imagine put the whole thing together, for acknowledging the money moment was to let Rhonda go crazy on him but she was fantastic in that match. From the moment she took the tag and charged across the ring I was sold.

Appreciate you're not a fan but I really think she did deserve a lot of credit for her work in that Mania match.

It's insane. And Baszler says that Jessamyn Duke is even better than her, so man, once the shoot Horsewomen are all in, it could be great.

That said, I fully expect Baszler/Sane to steal the show.

I find it difficult to argue with a lot of your points but I do think there's a line between her in-ring work and how she's booked.

I really like her in the ring. I get the smiling thing irritates a lot of people but as far as I can see, as soon as the bell rings, she's all go. Her facial expressions, her selling, it all comes together as being focused and respectful. I definitely wouldn't have given her the title within her first year. She didn't specifically need it - her matches/feuds generate enough interest in themselves and I'm always a believer that the title should be a long and arduous road for any (new) competitor.

She shouldn't have squashed Bliss - Bliss has worked hard over the last few years and deserved better than that. Again though, that's down to the booking and not her.

That's Vince though - Vince really doesn't help with that mindset non-wrestling fans have that wrestling is fake and the guyrs aren't tough. Every celebrity who steps up to a wrestler nearly always wins - Arnold beat Hunter, Joe Mangaliano (sp?) beat up Miz, Flo Rida bullied Heath, Will F'n Shatner beat down Road Dogg... then Brock comes in with the "legitimate" UFC background, ends the streak, ethers Cena, then dominates the roster for like 4 years. Rhonda hasn't been that bad but she was always going to own the women like Brock owned the men. That mindset doesn't help anyone in my opinion.

I also 100% agree that she needs more work - I appreciate NXT would've been a bit weird for her to go to considering how big a name she is but it would've helped her tremendously.

Saying all that though, I think she's great. She should be competing weekly though as it will only help her, and please stop having her beat up security guards - I think this is the third time now?!

In response to Reply # 0

I've done a lot of wrestling this year. NJPW, PWG, NXT, ROH.

I will say this, the main roster show knocks production out of the park. The sound, the presentation, the showmanship.

I did enjoy the actual wrestling from the other promotions way more. I mean WAY more. It was hard trying to get into match quality after just going to a ROH show a few days before. That being said, I knew what I was getting into so I expected it to be style over substance and I was honestly satisfied. The kid and I damn near lost our voices at the show and all and all we had a great time.

They talked about it in GD last week on a post asking about things you're shocked people are still into.

I go to quite a few sporting events a year, and nothing gets the crowd more hype than wrestling. Football you may have the team entrance and the music coming from the PA system to get the crowd hype, but most of the people you're there to see don't really engage the crowd because they're supposed to just play the game.

Wrestling is all about crowd involvement and it'll honestly make you feel tired after the entire thing is over if they're getting you hype enough to engage them back. It's my favorite thing to attend live.

In response to Reply # 121

Thought last night’s crowd was really energetic throughout. Part of that is it was a special show, part of it is the show is only two hours (cannot be understated how different/better) that is

Was surprised at the response Batista got. What an ovation.

Tag titles match was great. And while I don’t need any more Big Show, it does sort of make sense that The Bar would hire someone to level the playing field in a feud against The New Day

The “Yes” entrance still blows my mind all of these years later

I think Nakamura’s offense actually hurts. Less because it’s “strong style” and more so because I just think it’s delibrately sloppy. I loved watching him. He’s selling a character the entire time he’s out there. He snarls and walks around and swings his arms all in character, a lot of guys could learn from how well Nakamura just moves around. It’s a shame he hasn’t had a truly great match since Sami Zayn, but he’s a presence.

Undertaker is officially just a hack. Is that blasphemous? The equivalent to going to see The Rolling Stones in concert now. Takes 5 minutes to get to the ring, says “RIP”, walks away for five more minutes. For a guy who everyone reveres as the pro’s pro, he’s exiting about as non-gracefully as Hogan did.

And crusierweight wrestling, that hyper speed X Division style, does nothing for me. It’s athletic choreography at this point. None of the offense looks realistic, none of the selling lasts. I hated it.

I mean I understand he wrestles a very limited scheduled. But a 5 minute entrance to the ring just to say "Rest in Peace" and walk away is a bit absurd. Cut a cool ass promo or something. He could have talked for about 5 minutes and I would have been happy. My daughter sat there like "that's it?" after seeing his entrance live for the first time in her life. I guess I don't blame him either for picking up a paycheck just to come out and spit 3 words and bounce. I would have much rather had someone else there if I knew that's all we were going to get.

Should have quit when the Streak ended (for my taste he could have stopped a year or two before that). Him coming out to get beat up on special matches is just pitiful, almost as bad as Flair was yesterday...a sad caricature of himself.

Last night was a perfect example why WWE needs to stop with the old folks reunion tours. Flair looked borderline senile, undertaker gets slower by the day, and now...I pray I'm wrong...Batista looks like he's gonna come back for a match. UGH

I think they knew this was going down before today. Things are falling into place way too easily. I don't question the leukemia, just the timing of it all.

The sneak attack on Strowman last week by Drew to make Strowman look more face-like...then the announcement tonight...then the giving the belt to the winner of the PPV match...all looks like the perfect storm to having Strowman being a face champion to take Reigns place.

and it doesn't always have to be something as major as a heel turn like last night's.

That Ronda promo last week for example, just one buzzy item every week. There has to be at least one part of the show every week that raises stakes, ups the intrigue of a program. I seriously feel like it wouldn't be hard to do, but there's entire months of programming where it feels like nothing is happening. Again, doesn't have to be a huge heel turn, but it's gotta be something every week - they have to have that as a goal.

They're aware of everyone's reservations but think Cena and Bryan are just gonna change their minds. They were also waiting for the State Department to order them to cancel but that's probably not gonna happen either. Simply not mentioning Saudia Arabia on TV ain't making this thing go away. They've been pretty cowardly the past couple weeks.

they protest their money. I honestly doubt that 80% of the audience even puts the location of the show and the location of the reporter's murder together, and those that do mostly don't care, so why they seem so apprehensive to put it out there when guys pull out is beyond me.

Cooled off Sasha Bayley in order to push a tag division that they never debuted.

Cramming Nikki into the main event when we all saw it coming

Throwing everyone in a battle royal and just wasting so much talent. You spent years building Asuka and look at her now crammed into this battle royal.

Outside of Becky and Charlotte, all of the interesting stuff is not coming from the main roster, meanwhile they had MONTHS to promote this. I feel so bad for the women involved having to pretend this is a great event when in reality it's going to be awful and be looked at as a joke and a huge knock on women's wrestling for the people who already don't like it.

I mean in reality the ultimate equal treatment for Men and women is treating all these storylines like crap and presenting us a C level PPV full of pre show matches just like the men get most months, but people are going to point to this terrible PPV as proof that women's wrestling is not good enough.

For me...this is what is wrong with WWE in general...total mismanagement of the talent available. Grabbing all of the top talent just so that no one else has it to use, then putting it on the shelf for no good reason.

Honestly however, I'm not sure that there is enough here to make a top shelf PPV of women alone. Your top two matches should be the title matches, and while Becky vs Charlotte should be very good, it's been done to death over the last couple months with all the corny extra stuff (the training enter...seriously??). Rousey is not good enough to be champion, and having her fight a has-been like Nikki Bella is just weak and tired as a showcase match.

I've made it quite clear how I feel about these relic matches, and Lita and Stratus are no exception...hell, Thickie James is borderline relic.

Then, in the laziest booking move they could muster, let's take all of our talent and put them in a battle royal so that no one can showcase their talents. Why would we showcase Asuka, or Sasha, or Bayley, or Ember Moon, or Naomi, or anyone else on the main roster??

I don't have the network, so I don't know what to expect from the NXT title matches or the Mae Youbg classic, but that kind of makes my point. They've chosen to spotlight matches of people not on their roster over their own talent, effectively burying them all. It makes zero sense to me, and I most likely won't bother watching this PPV at all. They want to highlight the womens movement, then do as little a s possible to support it when they give it the spotlight....dumb as a box of rocks.

This is the most maddening part. Had they kept Asuka strong they could've built to Ronda/Asuka and they'd have one of the most intriguing cards of the year.

I feel so bad for the women involved having

Had one extremely memorable great match, some useless clunkers and a few matches that performed better than they should have (battle royal was entertaining for example).

If this was Great Balls of Fire or TLC it would just be a forgettable PPV, but because it was evolution and had all that hype it's going to probably be remembered as a letdown.

I enjoyed it as much as most of the non 5 big PPVs though.

But there is still a large portion of wrestling fans out there who don't respect women's wrestling, they think it's bad. They will highlight every botch, bad interview and bad match and ignore that WWE is bad in general and the men have the same problem.

You're right they misuse the talent in the same way as the men, but when they do it to people who already have a bigger hill to climb it's an even bigger problem.

To win people over who needed to be won over it had to be an A, but instead it was a B-/C+ like everything else they do.

Unfortunately for the women, a B-/C+ is an F in alot of peoples eyes.

so why are they showcasing these talents instead of, ya know, the actual athletes who can go?

Yea it's a major problem that most of their best women were buried in meaningless matches or a battle royal.

This card could have looked like:

Becky vs Charlotte
Asuka vs Ember Moon
Sasha vs Bayley
Iconics vs Bellas (and plenty of other tag teams) for tag title
Nia vs Tamina (everyone likes a hoss fest now and then)

Ronda should have been used with the 4 horsewomen somehow since there wasn't a major match available for her that made sense.

It was just showcasing so much of the wrong talent.

Then everyone else gets a payday match.

You could have built my card (or a similar card where you had storylines beyond the main event) and still put everyone else in a battle royal and tag matches.

No reason for Asuka, Ember Moon, Nia and others to be in that battle royal

Vince doesn't see Asuka or Bayley as top talent. Sasha gets hurt too much to be top talent.

He sees Charlotte and Ronda as top talent. They got showcases. NXT and the Mae got showcases because they're Hunter and Steph's pet projects. Everybody else got a payday.

I feel like the women should have gotten some better match ups. The fact that you have soooo many talented women and you waste their talents in a battle royal instead of match ups that play to their strengths says something. It's like they're going "Look at how progressive we are, we let the women have this!" and then go do ANOTHER show in a land where they're not allowed to be there.

All and all it felt more like an NXT show which is a good thing, and I feel like they put on a better display than some of the shit PPV's we've seen this year. Hopefully next time they utilize their talents properly.

No one could have predicted the Shane win, and I should have been smarter (dumber?) and picked the Brock win.

Maybe it'll help if you get drunk, ram your head into a wall several times then make your picks. Maybe that's what Vince does when he books this stuff?

And I knew the tournament would throw all of us for a loop because of that. I wiped out the finals for everyone cause who tf would pick Shane, but it was impossible to pick anyway.

Plus its Friday and these people can't expect me to really work today.

If you decided not to watch you should be happy with your decision. This is the most "meme" event I think I've ever seen. None of this makes sense. It's like Vince got that Saudi money and said "lol here ya'll watch this shit and try not to kill anyone while we're here lol"

I'd probably prefer doing work today than watching this at work.

Thank God there is a NJPW show tomorrow morning to help me forget about this train wreck of a PPV.

Already looking to be a stacked card. I'm feeling like Ibushi should get a shot at Goto's NEVER Openweight title also and I think they may pull the trigger on that one.

With Bryan dropping out and the AJ-Bryan not happening, Braun winning the title was the only thing I cared to see.

Brock is absolutely horrid these days. Just a complete waste of time. No moveset. Doesn’t sell. Doesn’t talk. Doesnt care. Not even close to the same guy he was in 2002-03 or even 2012-13.

Survivor Series and then I guess when he drops the title. No idea when that'll be or to who but I hope it isn't dragged out til Mania. I feel like Lesnar's been operating on this per match deal for the longest time so when everyone thinks he's about to lose the title... guess what, he's signed on for another match and ends up retaining.

I know you watch other things.

But what I get from here is a lot of people only watch WWE like its the only thing that exists. That's why they use the phrase "The WWE Universe" because they want their casual fans to continue to think that is the only wrestling available.

Its really easy to get into other promotions right now and I'm so satisfied with most of them I now watch WWE secondary and it doesn't bother me at all if I skip it doe weeks at a time.

but I LOVE BECKY LYNCH!!!!!

It's pissing me off that her perfect heel out schtick is making everyone cheer, ( I want to think that it's because the fans are tired of Flair being force fed to them like she's a McMahon) but I love her charavter right now. Her bad ass act comes off way better than Roysey's. I literally have bever given any thought to Lynch her entire WWE career until she jumped Charlotte Flair, and she is carrying it well IMO.

I picture him in that scenario and having to pick his replacement, and after he does he gives them the stunner, the middle finger, then rolls out of the ring.

I know she has a concussion and they don't want her doing much but she shouldn't have hugged in the ring. I'm not surprised though.

this could be great.

And let's face it. They were going to have Rousey sub her in 90 seconds. NOW, now that they've had Rousey and Becky interact, they've had a chance to see how the fans react to it.

I don't think embracing Charlotte is necessarily off-character, either. After that Evolution match, Becky had a bit of a conflicted look on her face raising the title. And I would imagine there's a respect earned between the two, kayfabe-wise- they'd taken each other to the limit, and now they have a common enemy that just swanned in from MMA and clearly has no idea about the business besides a borrowed nickname and jacket, else she'd know what Becky was talking about when she called herself "The Man."

-The impromptu title match with Bryan

-The selection of Charlotte McMahon to replace Becky

-The hug afterwards

If A.J. drops the belt tonight...F_CK Smackdown for a while (and it looks like it's gonna happen).

At least I can watch The flash and Black Lightning live for a while. Have fun watching Survivor Series.

Let AJ feud with Almas or someone who needs the rub for his customary 40 matches per feud, and let's see what new things can happen with D-Bry now.

Plus, you get heel Bryan versus Lesnar on one of the A-shows .

Said circus bear sucks, but gets tick because she's related to Dwayne, and now the best, most interesting in the whole damn company loses the only only truly interesting match in the company.

The shit with Bryan is whatever. He's about to get the shit kicked out of him.

Damn shame KO is on the shelf.

They still need a big to give them some credibility against a guy like Brock, because they all look alarmingly small against bigger guys.

But I think that could work.

In response to Reply # 220

If you think about it they're probably the best faction that the entire WWE has right now. Are their any other factions? I feel like NXT needs them a bit more at the moment and the main roster is already so bloated. Let them run over NXT a bit more then move them up after WM, but you have to rely on Vince letting them make a major impact or it's going to be another Sanity.

If I were booking this shit I'd have them come up and interfere with some baby face team at the end of Raw, have Adam Cole talk his shit to close out the show and immediately let them win the tag titles at the next PPV. Place Cole in the IC Title run. I miss dangerous factions in the WWE. I'd only have them at 5 members at the most but they need to let them come in hot and they need to be disruptive as shit. Think nWo when they first got to WCW.

No sells the fuck out of the pin because who can blame him? At that point he probably just wants medical attention in the worse way.

In 2018 David Arquette is more hardcore than some of your favorite wrestlers.

But I don’t care about anyone outside of Ronda, Bazler, Charlotte, and Becky. They should just do a tag match.

The idea that Sasha and Bayley with their 12 year old boy slap box offense can compete against Ronda Rousey insults my intelligence, but I buy Charlotte and Becky.

I get why fans rejected Becky's heel turn and cheer the hell out of her, but I have no idea why Charlotte is being cheered at the moment...

Realising she can't beat Rousey, she gets herself DQ'ed, beats the hell out of her with a Kendo stick, a chair, Pillmanises her neck and is cheered out of the building while Rhonda is boo'ed. Then Charlotte comes out on Smackdown, is cheered, praised by Paige for her actions, is victorious against Billie Kay, challenges Royce, and is still cheered.

If the rules have changed, then why are people booing Daniel Bryan?

I honestly can't connect with fans' logic at the moment.

Becky was tired of Charlotte's getting shine on a McMahon-esque level...kicked her ass. (though her getting cheered bothers me a bit, it is as much a factor of fans being tired of Flair overkill as anything else)

Charlotte obliterates rousey and gets cheered is basically the same thing...Rousey being force-fed the title for no reason besides the fact that her name is Rousey is corny at best...Rousey's character sucks and Flair is decent on the mic and knows the business.

Bryan's turn is contrived. Loved by all for so long, then out of nowhere he beats up A.J. Styles for no reason and makes with the half crazy stare afterwards...it simply doesn't make any sense, especially with the timing of it just before a major PPV and a match against Strowman. No story to support the turn, just kick in the nuts, win the belt, and beat up Styles after the match. Compare that with Ambrose's turn...conflict for weeks, followed by resolution, then finally after winning the tag belts, he jumps Rollins and leaves him laying in the ring. You could see it coming, but there were also things that made it look like it wouldn't happen, then BOOM 0 heel Ambrose. Bryan basically left the WWE hanging over Crown Jewel, then gave himself a title shot and nut-shotted a win. Most don't think A,J, deserved that treatment, so Bryan got the heel treatment.

For me personally, becky Lynch's turn and her character aferwards are perfect. She's playing it a bit over the top, but for what she's doing, it fits. Charlotte's turn...I'm feeling it becuse she jacked up rosey, but otherwise I really don't care either way. It's obvious to me that it's the start of the "Road to WM" for them, so whatever, just do whatever and keep it movin'.It would take her to do some real devious stuff for me to back her as a heel (maybe riding with Lynch and startig a heel faction) Bryan, at least as of now, doesn't have the "heel magic" for me to root for him. It just doesn't feel right.

Yes, that Charlotte winning that title in that triple threat I think hurt her more than anything in that she officially crossed over into the Cena/Roman category. It's kinda why I get people reacting to her the way they did.

I have to say though the Charlotte/Rousey thing still doesn't make sense to me. I get that it's weird Rhonda is champ so soon - I'm a big fan of the hero's journey so for her to be champ without having faced Sasha, Charlotte, Becky, Bayley, Asuka... seemed silly. But I struggle to be able to fault her personally or anything she's done since joining WWE. I get people don't like the smiling, the ring attire, but she gives 100% and she did amazingly in that Charlotte match so deserved better than to be boo'ed by people after taking that beatdown.

And as relates to Charlotte, is she even an actual heel right now? She acted like one after the match but nothing that happened on Smackdown indicates that she is. I don't get why Paige didn't chew her out: she technically shamed the brand by her actions, basically threw in the towel instead of fighting til the end, but has received nothing but praise and cheers. I'm baffled by it.

I was talking to a friend who said they'd need to turn Rhonda heel if she's going to face Becky at Mania but I don't even know what that would entail - would they have her turn on a face like Sasha and beat the hell out of her - with the current trend that would just make Rhonda really popular and have people boo'ing Sasha like Rhonda before her, and Charlotte before that.

From a kayfabe standpoint, Charlotte and Becky have a long history, and Charlotte has always seen Becky as her underboss. The Tully to her Ric. Only problem is, Becky didn’t want that role. And Becky beat respect into her. On top of that, she played the history card by calling herself The Man in so doing.

Now, along comes this interloper who’s only here because she got the taste kicked out of her mouth. She’s borrowing another icon’s jacket and nickname without having any actual appreciation for the business. How could she if she doesn’t know what Becky even means when she calls herself The Man? She gets to stand alongside the Rock and get into fights with the bosses right away. She didn’t have to go through developmental like Charlotte did despite being ass juice on the mic. Throw that on top of Becky entrusting her to take care of business - which didn’t have to include a pinfall or submission so much as getting inside Rousey’s “weak mind.”

>And as relates to Charlotte, is she even an actual heel right
>now? She acted like one after the match but nothing that
>happened on Smackdown indicates that she is. I don't get why
>Paige didn't chew her out: she technically shamed the brand by
>her actions, basically threw in the towel instead of fighting
>til the end, but has received nothing but praise and cheers.
>I'm baffled by it.

Paige is second generation like Charlotte. That’s why. Plus, one of those two women walked out unbloddied and with her head held high. Compared to the teams losing at SS, this is nothing for Smackdown.

>I was talking to a friend who said they'd need to turn Rhonda
>heel if she's going to face Becky at Mania but I don't even
>know what that would entail - would they have her turn on a
>face like Sasha and beat the hell out of her - with the
>current trend that would just make Rhonda really popular and
>have people boo'ing Sasha like Rhonda before her, and
>Charlotte before that.

The difference is that Becky is nuclear hot as a face right now, in the Austin tradition. And Rousey going hard at her is going to get a negative reaction, no matter what. And that extends to anyone seen as a Becky associate, which would include Sasha and Bayley - the other two “horsewomen” of NXT.

and I didn't think that was possible.

Endless stereotypes with the "Luca house party" and No Way Jose. Seriously...pinatas and conga lines?? Wasting the Revival (not like anyone else cares because they don't have Booty O's cereal or pancakes)

Ronda meanie face and Grandma Natalya every wee...come on.

Wasting Drew McIntyre on the whims of Baron Corbin in this bogus GM role...and for that matter, having Corbin being wasted in the role to bring back Angle.

Trying to turn Lashley into Lesnar 2.0 - a silent monster with an annoying mouthpiece. (He should be a monster, but not like this).

Can the people that can actually go in the ring be allowed to do that and skip the tired, regenerated, corny filler pieces??
**
**EDIT**

And now I can't even enjoy a heel Ziggler...now he'll go back to boring mid-card obscurity...damn.

Nope. They think nxt is the place for what you (and I) want. Raw is an hour of decent stuff with 2 hours of bad stuff thrown in around it. It’s basically impossible to enjoy from front to back without serious ffwd.

I've been able to stomach most of RAW's tomfoolery for a while, but yesterday was the first time I didn't watch it. Not because I was busy or anything cause if that was the case it would have been background noise, but I'm just not interested in anything RAW has going on now.

the best parts of WWE feuds are the shit-talking on social media anyway. Everything they present on TV lately is just not worth the time it takes to watch. I feel a tinge of guilt every Tuesday morning (as if I'm being a bad wrestling fan by not watching), then I read the recaps and it goes away.

From a storyline/emotional investment standpoint I can't say I care too much about any of these matches outside of Okada v. White.

Will still be a really fun 4+ hours of wrestling though. I know what my Friday night plans are Jan. 4.

Raw dropped another four percent off of last week's modern-era record low, with just a 2.19 million viewer average last night.

The audience started off ahead of last week, but it fell throughout the show, with both the lowest second hour in modern history, and the third hour, falling from that, was the lowest hour in modern history. The first hour was among the lowest first hours as well.

The big competition was the Minnesota Vikings vs. Seattle Seahawks NFL game that did 11.39 million viewers.

Raw was tenth for the night on cable, trailing only NFL related programming on ESPN and news programming.

The audience under 50 didn't tune out at the same levels as usual, and teenage boys grew throughout the show. Women declined, but the big decline was over 50 viewers which fell 18 percent from hour one to hour three.

The three hours were:

8 p.m. 2.35 million viewers
9 p.m. 2.19 million viewers
10 p.m. 2.05 million viewers
