never switches gears. Even against Thurman when he was clearly behind in the early rounds he stayed at the same pace. He's a great counter puncher but you can't sit back and try to time Porter. He's too wild and active. You have to let your hands go and if Danny let his hands go more he might have won.

that he's never fought anyone so willing to just stare at him and wait for him to initiate the action. Garcia's commitment to counter-punching is very real.

Luckily he abandoned his plan of trying to box around round 3 or 4 and that's what saved him. But I agree with others about Garcia. To me he's the better fighter but he's not aggressive enough and gives away too many rounds. Even when he stalks, he cuts of the ring and doesn't do shit.

work hard." Not that I always agree with the statement, but this was a case of such imo. Porter is wild, inaccurate with his punches, not necessarily the most intelligent in the ring, he smothers his own work, and he's going to headbutt you. But his conditioning was great (I was impressed with his conditioning... he said in an interview last week that he also has more muscle now than he's ever had and is punching harder than he's ever punched). He was still bouncing on his toes in the 12 round. He kept that crazy pace for 12 full rounds. He worked hard for this and he really wanted it. He outworked the much more accurate Garcia in the fight. It's like Garcia was too much of a perfectionist without enough power in his shots to beat a guy like Porter. He landed the better shots in the fight (that double left hook in the 9th was nice, and really shows a couple of Porter's key flaws), but when you land minimal shots, they better *at least* floor your opponent. Garcia's always waiting on that perfect shot. Even when Garcia would cut of the ring and throw first, he was really just trying to get Porter out of position to land another shot. In order for that to work, he'd have to be way more active and have more layers to his offense. Maybe he knew he couldn't keep up Porter's pace with his own game, and maybe Porter just didn't provide Danny with enough perfect opportunities. It's clear that Danny didn't know how to CREATE those opportunities for himself, so it's clear to me that Porter deserved the win. The result of this fight is what's supposed to happen when you wait for the perfect moment that doesn't come, while the other guy just keeps grinding.
The winner is supposed to fight Spence next, which means Porter is just temporarily holding Spence's belt lol. I see no scenario where Porter beats Spence.

I was expecting a split decision and scores within 3 pts... that one 4pt card can get a pass I guess and the judges got it right that was Porters fight... it was all about that mid fight gas.
Of the elite fighters at 147, all of them are better athletes than Danny Garcia. They will win rounds by movement and activity alone due to Garcia's commitment to countering. Danny is a great fighter, packs a punch, solid defensively always seems to be in position to counter. He does not have the quickest feet. This fight went exactly how I thought it would go. Having said that, all fights featuring Porter, Garcia, or Thurman were extremely close. There is not much separating those 3. All of those guys are really good. I think Spence and Crawford are special. I just can't wait for them to have the opportunity to prove it.
