"Worst missed FG in your team's history. "

Saw a cool article on this and was curious as to what you guys felt was your personal worse.

I thought about the Neil O Donnell miss that would have put the Cardinals in the playoffs in 84, and there have been plenty others for me, but unquestionably it was the Neil Rackers miss against the Bears on Monday Night.

The devastation.....I left the sports bar, pulled over to a parking lot and cried for an hour, then went home and sat in the dark for another two. I still shake my head at how much pain that caused me. I'm sure the fact that I was lit didn't help me keep my emotions in check. I laugh about it now, but damn. At the time, my peeps damn near had to put out a suicide watch for me over that game.

Yo, that was one of the worst days for me. My basement/man cave flooded that afternoon and I had to watch the game in my kitchen. After Baldwin caught a long bomb to give their kicker a chance at a short field goal. I cut the TV off, and went outside cussing and damn near bawling. I lost my glasses falling on my neighbors lawn, and didn't even know we tied until the next day at work. I was pissed!! That was Chandler Catanzaro!

we didnt give up a DAMN THING all game, and then that bullshit bomb happens.

such a funny story tho. imagining you falling into bushes in your neighbors yard and your glasses falling off lost in the shrubbery.

Catman was done in AZ after that. unforgivable.

would not have won, but at least forced OT

Tennessee Volunteers (2009): Daniel Lincoln getting his game-winning attempt against Alabama blocked by Terrance Cody. Alabama won 12-10 and finished 14-0, the only time Saban has gone undefeated in his coaching career. probably the best Alabama team as well -- 11 players were first-rounders, six of whom went in the top ten(!).

Felt so bad for Akers on that and got love for him too, but I felt like it was time to go. He had that one good year immediately after with the 9ers, then he was toast. Nice to see him back in the fold for the draft this year.

That was a year of "better a year early than a year late," I guess, but overall they had a great feel for when a player was washed. I remember being mad they didn't re-sign Troy Vincent but he and Taylor did next to nothing. By the time they traded McNabb I had so much faith in their sense of when to cut ties that I knew he would be trash, especially given that they traded him within the division. Too bad they didn't have just as good of a sense for when to add that last piece. They hung on forever with the same weaknesses essentially (receivers, pass-rushing ends, one could argue LB at times as well).

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

if so easily UM-App St 2007 to lose, followed by last years low kick and block in GT-TENN at end of regulation

the Lions had Jason Hanson and rarely kick for anything meaningful, so the worst missed FG is less of a consequential thing and more of a pathetic attempt. after trying david akers in 2013 post hanson the lions went with Alex Henery in 2014 for 4 weeks before stabilazing with Matt Prater. week 5 against the Bills he kicked a ball that never turned over, spun like a top, and landed at about the 20 yard line halfway between the hash and the sideline. that was his second miss of the day, and his third from 47 yards was a potential GW. Buffalo immediately came back and hit a 59 yarder to win. i dont think Henery ever kicked in an NFL game again.

while it wasn't actually a missed FG in that the kicker kicked and missed but more of an opportunity. after Julio Jones made that amzing spectacular catch at the 22, instead of calling 3 run plays and kicking a FG, Kyle Shanahan calls 3 pass plays, the first of which we got holding called, then Ryan got sacked and pushed us out of FG range.

I watched that game live, the Saints hit on one of those oh-fuck-that's-impossible-it'll-never-work-how-fucking-pathetic plays where there were like a million laterals and guys falling down and shit. They score to send the game to OT--they were .500 and needed that win and one more to maybe make the playoffs--but Carney missed the extra point!!!! I later heard the local call and it was amazing. "NOOOO!!! He missed the extra point wide right! Oh my God, how could he do that!?!"

We didn't miss too many FGs when we made it to the play-offs, so giving up the longest play ever at that point has to be #1.

I'm a Pats fan and that was for a long time my favorite SB ever played. And everytime I watch a replay or see highlights from that game I'm shocked by that mistake. Pats got so lucky there.

What a great fucking game. I loved Delhomme's approach to the game. Such a fiery motherfucker.

hurt me SO much. I got into a physical fight with an actual blood relative over this. It really was unfair in so many ways. Tony Romo was a REALLY good QB. He was also a good person. He shouldn't have ever been in that fucking position in the first place. He took so much of the brunt for the teams failures over that time. He shouldn't have.

Trailing 15-14 against the Cleveland Rams, Joe Aguirre missed two 4th quarter field goal attempts that would have given them the lead. Ultimately the game is better remember for Sammy Baugh's fluke safety when he threw a pass that hit off the goal posts and bounced back resulting in a safety. The rule was later changed.

In more recent times, there was a botched snap in the divisional round playoff game against the Bucs in 2000. Technically not a missed field goal because it never got off the ground, but Conway never got a chance at the 52 yarder that would have given the Redskins a lead late in the 4th. They didn't let snapper Dan Turk ride home on the team plane.
