"Kaep turned the Broncos down??"

Apparently Elway tried to sign him but he balked at only 7 mill guaranteed? So they drafted Paxton Lynch instead...

Now, I am on record as not thinking Kaepernick was that good anymore (he got worse every year of his career) but he was def better than Lynch ever will be.

Gotta wonder what he was thinking though…that team only needed a decent QB to contend.

And he doesn't have a job period

important to note this was BEFORE the anthem controversy began. already see people making fools of themselves saying “i thought he said he was getting blackballed.” stop that.

https://twitter.com/bomani_jones/status/1030165660951879683

also, as i recall, elway asked kap to take a cut from what was guaranteed on his deal. that’s not really an “offer.”

https://twitter.com/bomani_jones/status/1030164501906251777

did anyone follow up those questions for elway with him writing that letter for gorsuch on team letterhead or were they sticking to sports?

Contingent on Kap losing $5M in guaranteed $$$

"Elway met with Kaepernick twice in 2016 as the Broncos and San Francisco 49erstried to work out a trade that would have sent Kaepernick to Denver. At the time, the Broncos wanted to trim Kaepernick's guaranteed salary from $11.9 million to $7 million, whether that would involve the 49ers paying the difference or Kaepernick simply taking the pay cut."

LOL@make Elway the same offer and see if he takes it

Oh for sure

But Kaep should have taken that trade. The Niners were trash at that point and dragging him down with them.

in a collusion case

Here is the alleged testimony from a competitor's GM establishing his potential value for the season he went unsigned

Remember, Kap opted out of his last year w/SF

The DEN 'deal' would have been for 2yrs at $7M per

Also, as you intimated, he was being brought in to compete for the starting position post PED Manning

Simien and Osweiler...still in the league...?

Probably don't draft Lynch...still in the league...?

You follow?

That statement actually makes it harder to understand why he's not on a roster...if it's not about the protest

I imagine the first call Bronco Face Elway got was from his lawyers...telling him to STFU.

+1, his stats actually rebounded in 16', +90 psr rt, 16 tds/4ints...on a shitty team

Yeah, I'm just talking about that would have been a good move, from a football perspective, I'm surprised he didn't take it.

Anyone who saw him play that year saw that those were the emptiest of stats.

He was still with the Niners and it was pre kneeling. He wasn’t willing to a 5 million pay cut.

At this point no team signs him after this. There's not one team in the league that gives him a chance because of this fake patriotism respect the police bs narrative conservative media pushes.

Go to Canada and make the best of it. Only issue he has in Canada is the proud boys. Other than that he should be bare minimum better than Johnny Manziel.

right today. Again, most Q2s in the NFL have comparable salaries to an entire CFL team.

Highest CFL player makes about what you get if you're signed off an nfl practice squad.

Apparently there were meetings with the Bengals that stalled when he remained non-committal on his 2018 kneeling stance
