>1) How many games do the Lakers (35-47 last season) win this

I’ll go with 50. LeBron adds 10, improvement from young players and other additions adds another 10, minus 5 for needing time to gel.

Rockets
Warriors
Jazz
Thunder
Lakers
Wolves
Nuggets
Pelicans

>3) Which team will improve the most and which team will fall
>off the hardest?

Lakers/ Blazers. Portland has been overachieving IMO. I think some of these others have more talent and will surpass them. Utah and Denver seem more solidly built. Lakers, OKC, TWolves have more talent at the top. I think Portland battles NO and the Spurs for the 8 seed.

>4) Who will have the best season between the Suns, Mavs and

Mavs.

Doncic. More help, better organization, team in better position to win. Phoenix is too young, and the Kings look promising but they can never get right so something will go wrong.

DeRozan will help from what they had last year but Gasol is 38, Ginobli is 41, even Adlridge is 33. Gay is 31 and has declined a lot, Belinelli is 32. At some point “experience” becomes “old”. They seem to be missing the young legs.

I don’t know, I think they’ll be right there. Somebody’s gotta miss the playoffs in that western conference blood bath. The Lakers will make it, and I like Denver’s roster better than the Spurs.

with derozan and patty mills basically in their primes, and the three young guards, there's room to take what they can get from manu and belinelli.

it's the complement/backup in the front court that's cause for concern. kyle anderson was in more lineups and playing more mpg than anyone but him last year.

47 was barely enough last year. They could do essentially the same and miss out. Someone that looks solid will miss out.

History says it’s foolish to bet against the Spurs, but roster wise I like those first 7 better than them. Not completely sold on N.O. though.

Jazz record may not change but they will BE better, as will Denver. LA will have biggest swing in # of Ws.

Minnesota on the fall-off. Doesn't really matter whose fault the strife is, but when the leader and the young building block have friction...not good.

>4) Who will have the best season between the Suns, Mavs and

Dallas, but Sacramento is probably more talented. If DeAaron Fox takes a big enough step it could be the Kings.

Doncic if he's as advertised. Got a great structure around him.

Took 47 games to make it in last season. You think 45 would be enough this season? If they only win 45 games, I think they miss the playoffs by a game or two.

This is a bit surprising. And if they start slow, I think someone gets traded.

Dallas is trying to make the playoffs. If Doncic has the biggest impact and they signed Jordan as well...how many games you think they win?

I see POR, DAL, MIN right around .500 and being out. i also see Utah and Denver sucking up some available wins.

agreed, and Id guess Butler given the ages involved. wont be the best option for being better THIS year tho.

right around .500. they dont have an elite iso scorer anymore, and just about everyone else does. some have 2.

And the Spurs play ball very inefficient now. It works out cause they have Aldridge but Derozan is a worse shooter with a very inefficient game and questionable defense.

Now that I think about it, you're probably right, they probably don't become worse, but I'm not sure they got better.

he was far and away the best player on a 60 win team

no team is going to add him and get worse. they will absolutely be better as a team than they were last year.

BUT...teams like DEN and UTA have so much more room for internal development than SA does. so i would understand the idea that their W-L record may tread water.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

>50 to 54. lots of improvement from BI, Kuz, Hart and Lonzo.

I see this too but my question is a slow start. Things always need a few months to gel with LeBron teams. They end up 9-8 like the heat did or something...in the west, they not running off 21 of 22. And Lonzo and BI can't go down either. They are going to need the depth. Though having Kuz and Rondo as backups will help.

>grizz? SMH. nope. wolves? fslling apart. nah. spurs gonna
>tank.

Healthy Conley, JJJ developing, Anderson replacing the non-existent production of Parsons and Gasol being Gasol and they should be a target mid 40's win team. Unless the wolves have real chemistry issues, I don't see them falling off. Too much talent. And Spurs aren't tanking, otherwise they would have traded for young dudes and draft picks. Prolly tried to move Lamarcus too. Derozan ensures they are aiming for top 4 in the West. I learned long ago never to count the Spurs out. At least not while Pop still there.

Now the Blazers, might not make it. I could see the Pels falling out of the top 8 also, depending.

>Pels and Jazz improve most. Wolves gonna be atrocious.

You that giddy about Cop-face in NO? Or did you just like their offseason/late season that much?

>Suns. But, to be fair...who cares?

Gotta talk about the young bols too. lol

physical maturity is always a question as is mental toughness for an NBA rookie. will be a top rookie though IMHO.

grizz won't be shit as a team but they got a good one there.

>1) How many games do the Lakers (35-47 last season) win this
>year?

I'm gonna say 50-55, call it 51 if you want an exact prediction. Unless the #Kang gets hurt, then they will flail around and drown summarily, be a bottom-end lotto team depending on when it happens. But he has been very durable so let's assume he stays healthy and drags them to 50. The question will be how far their young trio progresses and which Rondo we see. If everything goes as well as possible, why not conference finals?

>2) Of these teams, who makes the playoffs:
>1-Rockets (65-17)
Obviously.

>2-Warriors (58-25)

Gee, I'm on the fence.

>3-Blazers (49-33)

Probably though I think they will drop off, be more like a bubble team.
>4-Jazz (48-34)

Yes, on the strength of coaching. They will have to have better health and some guys step forward just to run in place but they should get that. Middle seed like 5/6.

>5-Thunder (48-34)

Yes but they won't go anywhere.

>6-Pelicans (48-34)

Yes, but a bubble team.

>7-Spurs (47-35)
Decent chance of no IMHO, coaching is good, talent is just good enough but things are trending in the wrong direction and they aren't a very athletic team.
>8-Wolves (47-35)
Decent chance of no, definitely a bubble team with the chemistry issues and coaching they have.
>9-Nuggets (46-36)
Quite possible that they make it, they certainly have the talent and balance. But they are kind of a shitty franchise and it sounds like they got a little shallower having traded Chandler and now seeing Porter Jr out for God knows how long.
>10-Lakers
Yes, obviously.
>11-Grizz (22-60)
Lol no. Conley healthy and JJJ should help. They won't be embarrassing like last year but they won't make the playoffs.

Why not include Dallas, Sac, PHX and the Clippers? We put the Grizz in there for fuck's sake.

Sac won't make it, still a dumpster fire. Not liking what I saw from Bagley in Summer League, they aren't using him correctly and he ain't as ready as he looked against NCAA competition. Not calling him a bust I just don't think he can buoy them right away.

Clippers overachieved last year and theoretically will be deeper now, but loss of DJ hurts and they'd be hard-pressed to replicate last year's results, let alone get better and make the playoffs.

PHX should be improved but they aren't there yet, still a AAAA roster, really.

Dallas is the one team I think could make it. Solid coaching, nice FA addition in DJ that got overlooked for whatever reason, ready-to-play rook in Doncic and a guy who should get more efficient in Dennis Smith. I don't think they will make the playoffs but if someone else falters, they might sneak in. I think they will be a narrow miss kind of like the Clippers were last year (or the Nuggets though I dunno if they will get that close).

>3) Which team will improve the most and which team will fall
>off the hardest?

Kinda answered above I think Portland, Minnie and SA are all candidates for the hardest fall. Good arguments for all three. I'll say Minnie though, really not liking the direction things are headed there.

Biggest improvements well Lakers number one and then Dallas number two. Could be a .500 season for the Mavs.

>4) Who will have the best season between the Suns, Mavs and
>Kings?

Mavs easily, then PHX then Sac.

>5) Which west rookie will have the biggest impact on team
>success yr 1 and why?
>-Doncic
>-Ayton
>-Bagley
>-SGA
>-Giles (technically)
>-Bridges
>-Porter Jr
>-Other

I'll say Doncic though I think JJJ in Memphis has a great shot, as does Carter in Chicago. Knox will do numbers in NY, he'll have a lot of opportunity. Young will be like this year's Dennis Smith. I think Doncic, Carter and JJJ will go 1-2-3 in ROY voting.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Bron and Pop not in the postseason?!?! WOW. I'm VERY curious about the Lakers chances. Everything goes right and 55 seems attainable but if anything goes wrong, 45 could be it. And 45 will make them a bubble team in the West. I'm looking at LeBron's last few teams and the bigger issues were all on the defensive end. But he knew they could coast in the east. Won't have that Luxury in the West. Lakers gonna get the same energy the Warriors get no matter who they play. And almost every night, gonna be a tough matchup.

I can't clap to the Spurs. Until Pop leaves, they win no less than 45 games and are always a threat to make the 'offs.

I get it, Ayton and Bridges added to Josh Jackson and Booker. But they need a PG. Knight is not it and they let Elf and Ulis go. Key to their season will probably be Elie Okobo and how well he develops. I like the kid though. Not sure they are better than Dallas this yr though.

SGA is set up nice for a ROY run. Ayton has to share the rock with Booker. Bagley is gonna need time. JJJ isn't the focus of Memph yet, Young is gonna be a front runner. Bamba is a back up for now. Doncic might have a decent shot also. SGA isn't as much on anyone's radar and the Clippers don't have an identity right now. Sexton is in a good spot but Love is the go to.

I think the Lakers end up on the bubble being out.

If either L.A. or D.D miss extended time for the Spurs they're in trouble.

If Brandon Knight is healthy, they'll be solid. You rather have Payton, Ulis, or some French Kid over BK? Lol... okay fam. I'm not gonna start my morning like this.

SGA is gonna need mins. And there's a lot of guards for the Clipps. Doc might be compelled to play them. If he starts earlier, he should be set.

Ayton isn't gonna need many touches, and there's a lot of them to go around in Phoenix. He can easily get 18 and 10.

You and his moms are the only people in the world who still believes Brandon Knight is a starting caliber PG on a playoff team. lol He coming off an ACL injury, wasn't all that great before it happened and really isn't a pass first PG on a team that needs to feed it's deadeye shooter (Booker) and newly drafted #1 post player (Ayton).

I think the Suns see him as a serviceable back up until the young bol develops. But as they are a lotto team, they aren't in any rush. I'd be shocked if they resign Knight after his contract expires in 19-20 (and he'd be 28 when it happens so it's not like he'd be old).

He may very well start the year as their PG but by mid season, he'll be supplanted. Especially if they are lotto bound.

then I watched him lose a starting role, then I watched Ulis get more starts than him, then I saw he got injured.

You really think the Suns are planning to rebuild with him as the PG of the future (and present for that matter)?

Then he got hurt.

Then he started at the 2 the following year.

Then, horrible coach Earl Watson decided to bring him off the bench. It didn't work.

Then he blew out his knee in the off-season. And Earl was fired.

But I forgot... torn ACL's are a death sentence to a player's career in the year 2018.

Lmao!

Oh and my bad, they need a classic pg that distributes next to Booker, because D-Book isn't a playmaker himself.

Lmao!

They need someone who can defend, score buckets, hit shots, and pick his spots.

If Brandon Knight is healthy, he can do all of that well enough for the Suns to improve.

I don't know what the Suns plans are for the future. And neither do you.

I do know Brandon Knight is their best pg, can still be an above average borderline All-Star in this game if healthy, and is their best option for flirting with an 8th seed.

In 2018, it still takes a full year to feel back to normal after an ACL (and that's a full year of playing, not rehab).

He plays the toughest position in the league, where athleticism and speed matter most, coming off a major injury. And I don't think he's ever been a borderline all-star at the deepest position in the league.

We'll see how he recovers though.

Yeah, he does.

And let me get this straight. B-Knight at 17.9/4.9/3.5 with a 2 to 1 asst to TO ratio shooting 42/32/80 with a .473 EFG on a 15 win team is a borderline allstar? Or are you talking about the year they traded him? I guess maybe in a weak east but he was still like 2-3 spots out then.

Yes, BK does not have to be 100% back to his normal athleticism to defend Lonzo Ball or Dennis Smith Jr.

Smh....

Ay man... you have a computer. Google. He should've been the injury replacement that went to Korver. Shit ain't that hard to research.

Ayton only because i do not see Porter Jr playing this year. I was caddying for an NBA Exec and he said Doncic would end up a role player so interesting to see his name pop up most often.
