(And shoulda gone to the NBA Finals, TBH, took Knicks
to 7)

I thought Jordan was leading bums and losers to titles?

Please discuss.

Imagine LeBron on that kind of a caliber team?

In Bron's last year w/ Cleveland during his first stint - they won 61 games. The very next year they win 19 games! lol

yiiiiiiikes.

Further, in Bron's last season with Miami - they won 54 games and made it to the Finals. The very next year? 37 wins and didn't even make the playoffs.

Meanwhile Jordan was cushioned by the greatest Robin of all-time and had championship pieces all around him. He leaves - the Bulls experience very subtle drop-off and still compete at a very high-level. In Jordan's last season w/ the Bulls prior to taking a hiatus - the Bulls won 57 games. The year after with Pippen at the helm?
They win 55 games! Great team.

Why sad? Kukoc was a damn good basketball player, especially at that point in his career.

Kukoc was quite good - but the notion that you'd win a title w/ him as your 2nd best player is suspect.

lol many things happened, being outcoached was not the main problem.
one of the main problems was lebron shrinking in those finals which people are still wondering about to this day. that was classic passive-lebron.

a year later it was bosh saving bron's ass against bsoton in gm7.
and ray allen saved his ass against the spurs with an all-time miracle sequence.

great player. just not the goat yall want him to be.

Mavs won that series on the defensive end due to using the zone and forcing Bron to get the ball out of his hands and making the *right* play.
Spolestra got undressed that series. Bron could have been more aggressive, sure, but that series got won by scheme.

ONLY good team the Bulls beat in the finals was the Suns.

Lol, cmon.

Blazers and Sonics were “good”. Blazers were in their second finals in 3 years.

Lakers were good too, but they were shot when Worthy got hurt. That would’ve been a good series otherwise IMO.

The Blazers were a missed layup from 3 straight Finals but they were not good. Not good like Dirk Nowitzki's Mavs, I'm guessing lolz.

The Lakers weren't GOOD?

It was a lot more fun and easy to bash the fuck out of Kobestan and their weak arguments like ZOMG BRON LOST TO DALLAS when their team as defending champions got sodomized in a four-game sweep the same season.

The Jordan thing, ehhh, the only thing you can really say is that his peak was diluted by expansion but in terms of his individual performance, it's pretty much beyond reproach. Similarly with LeBron the same is true and all that can be said is that generally he hasn't had the very best team top to bottom in the league. It is starting to reek of one of those eternal, pointless arguments unless the Kang keeps going and in the right situation to boot.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

yea I more/less agree. Thing is: I still have Jordan as GOAT - and Bron as 1(b) (which most would say is #2). But the notion that Jordan's resume is unblemished simply because he never lost in the Finals is a lazy analysis - as is not acknowledging the nuances of team dynamics and playing with all-time great talent.

It's a shame that I wasn't able to watch Wilt (before my time) - and it's an even bigger shame that it's hard to re-capture his greatness as there wasn't really any replay/coverage of him that can be easily accessed - so I just have to take people's word for his dominance. I've got him in my top 5 - mainly because of deference to the mythic history of him - and because you can't just fake the kind of stats and output that he achieved.

But I wish I could've seen him in his prime.

Those last playoffs and finals in Chicago, it seemed like he was gutting it out but didn’t have it physically like he used to and was limited. Then he had back surgery that summer.

Still a smart and skilled player, but that athleticism wasn’t what it was pre-back problems.

Jordan actually made his teammates better...he pushed them to improve and aim for excellence...even sometimes at the expense of alienating them (Kerr). And they still loved and revered him for it. They all worked harder because of and for him and when he took his break...that success was still sustainable...to a degree.

They needed him to win it all.

And mind you, they added some offensive firepower they didn't have the year prior in Kukoc which helped ease the offensive burden and BJ Armstrong developed (thanks to MJ as well).

While on the other hand, Bron is like a f*cking black hole of dependency. He refuses to take his foot off of the usage pedal because he's hella pressed to correct the mistakes of Finals past, as he chases a ghost he can only catch by winning.

So when his stat hounding ass departs a city, it's worse for ware BECAUSE he was there. He has to make every pass, get every rebound, score a bulk of the points. Yet, he wanted to run away from taking the blame and STILL does (broken hand cuz you punched a wall in the midst of the finals?...you f*cking idiot).

So instead of his teammates actually getting better because of his presence, they flail and flop when he leaves because of his excessive need to be depended on.

Playoff Bron is essentially the non-scowling version of Westbrook. He, in essence, makes his team mates LAZY and less than they could actually be. But because he does, it masks all the deficits of the squad and so they win, with the east being so weak, and it worked well enough to get them to the finals, where 'anything can happen'. A suspension or injury and tides change rapidly.

And let's stop acting like LeBron James is coachable. He's not. He's likable, talented and a cash cow so organizations let him do what he wants. Coaches consult him and it started as a rookie because the Cavs had no idea how to handle a talent that bright.

Even Jordan had to be coached up and change his approach a bit to be more successful. But because Bron is uncoachable, he's fallen short of what he could have been.

So, with that said, LeBronon, pray that your king goes somewhere that has a few other allstars that he's comfortable with and coach willing to shrink and let Bron run the show. Because father time stalking him and he's running out of opportunities. The league is targeting both him and the Warriors and they've almost caught up with Bron.

Right today, there's only a handful of scenarios that gets LeBron 2 more rings. And even THOSE are shrinking.

Ultimately, history respects winners and accomplishments not losers and excuses.

You want this throne...come take it.

Otherwise, keep crying about teammates and sit beneath it for all time.

You summed it all up beautifully. Captured sentiments I've heard before, on here as a matter of fact but haven't heard a lot since, when LeBron is being critiqued.

the phrase was "LeBron dominates the ball" which honestly hasn't changed and the seasons in which his teams won, it was because he didn't monopolize the ball. the beauty of the triangle is that it got the team on the floor regular touches of the ball, rather than just sitting and waiting for LeBron to do something.

But damn, you laid it out so nice. That's why OL Engrid stayed all the way away from that, talmbout "Jordan was 1-9 without Pippen"

Now that we’re talking about LeBron, 3 with a slew of turded up stats is ok. Just so there’s no confusion though. Bron > Kobe. But the hypocrisy and post moving is funny to watch.

Pippen was all-world defensively (10-time all defensive team) - and could score with super versatility. He was an original all-purpose swiss-knife wing superstar - and it enabled Jordan to be able to focus on volume scoring - knowing that Pip would be there to do everything else. That's a luxury LeBron has never had. Wade never defended at an elite-level during Bron's Miami years. And Irving was more of a liability than an asset defensively.

Could Jordan have carried a heavier load? Perhaps - but how heavy? He didn't fare well at all early in his career against competent playoff teams. We know how LeBron has performed when tasked to carry a heavy load. Nobody has carried a heavier one than he did in 2017-2018 - and he achieved with GOAT productivity/results.

Did Wade ever carry a team to anything significant when he didn't have LeBron or Shaq?

Because Wade did that a few times without Shaq/LeBron and that’s where the Bulls made it in ‘94.

When Jordan left - Pippen led the Bulls to virtually the exact same win-total (the year after) and they were a real factor in the playoffs.

If you look at the Heat’s record with Wade on the court outside of those 6 seasons with Shaq or LeBron, they’re .502 (127-126). If you look at their playoff success without Shaq or LeBron, they’ve never accomplished anything. Even if you look at that terrible '07-08 season during which Shaq was traded, Miami was only 4-11 with both Wade and Shaq playing in the same game, yet Wade without Shaq got really bad, going 6-30.

Pippen was a great player and had a phenomenal year in ‘94.

Should be noted that Toni Kukoc was a big addition. It’s not like they had the same exact team minus Jordan. In fact, Kukoc hit a game winning shot in the playoffs while Pippen sat out because the shot wasn’t drawn up for him.

Jordan never won without significant help....and neither did LeBron. Or anyone else.

lebron took a weak supporting cast to the finals, and conquered eastern juggernauts while doing it. jordan with a weak supporting cast went 1-9.

when lebron leaves teams they go 0-82. when jordan leaves they're still basically just as good without him.

pippen was the real key to jordan's success. wade was a washed up bum when he played with lebron.

get with the program.

Because the Eastern Conference Finals was the Knicks and Pacers.

Both of you motherfuckers have literally recreated history to fit this dissertation titled "Why Lebron Doesn't Have More Rings"

Although in fairness, you aren't the only two to do this. Although it's sad since your partner in coppage was already exposed for the bullshit and you come through and replicate it.

Not overstating. That was a very good '94 Bulls team that was one botched call away from beating the eventual Eastern Conf. champs. Not crazy at all to assume that they go to the Finals if the officials were competent.

Look - I've already stated that Jordan is GOAT - but if you're going to tirelessly criticize LeBron's resume - don't get all sensitive when critical analysis is done on Jordan as well.

I know you're a Chicago homer and all - but worry not - Jordan's legacy is secure.

on the flip side....because Jordan demanded so much attention from teams on the defensive end, how about Pippen having a much easier time getting his buckets and focusing on other things since he didn't HAVE to score a lot of points?

A Milwaukee Bucks team that almost won 60 games and the Boston Celtics of the 80s. Those were not competent, they were SUPERIOR teams. It's convenient to act like he just shot the ball but he was also getting steady rebounds and assists. The scoring load that MJ took on with respect to his rebounds and assists was MUCH higher proportionally than the "everything else" that Pippen took on with lower scoring numbers.

LeBron stat hounding/productivity comes from having the ball in his hands almost all of the time. It also comes at the expense of having more teammates who are ready when the moment comes for them. Paxson and Kerr were very solid role players/specialists who stepped up when the moment called for them, but let's not act like they were EVER anything more than that. The big shift was in Jordan starting to trust more of his teammates and letting everyone work within the system, not just giving them the ball when he chose to and expecting them to be in a rhythm regardless.

Celtics of the 80s were two of those teams, 59 Bucks were the other

Lebron has gotten SWEPT in TWO FINALS, most recently WITH Kevin Love.

Lebron also averaged 17.8 ppg WITH Wade and Bosh. Were they TOO MUCH HELP???

Please advise.

how'd he do in the Finals in 2013 & 2014?

What was his PER?

Since everyone likes to disregard the MVP-level season James had in 2011 and throughout the eastern conference playoffs - let's be equitable and use the same discernment when assessing Wade.

Similar numbers.
Same # of seasons.

One had a finals MVP though. The other was a career side-kick.

Jordan got 2 rings.
Bron was batting .500.

“All the people that was rooting on me to fail, at the end of the day they have to wake up tomorrow and have the same life that they had before they woke up today,” James said. “They have the same personal problems they had today. I’m going to continue to live the way I want to live and continue to do the things that I want to do with me and my family and be happy with that. They can get a few days or a few months or whatever the case may be on being happy about not only myself, but the Miami Heat not accomplishing their goal, but they have to get back to the real world at some point.”

That's why he loses the argument.

Always the beta to Jordan's alpha. No shame in being the best beta of all time though.

is it a coincidence that Pip is probably the best perimeter defender ever, or a by product of who he had to go against in practice every day?

Pip caught some heat for being mentally soft as the Bulls were on the verge of their first 3 peat. Will never forget how MJ got up in X-Man's face when Pip didn't have that yet, and this was AFTER the first ring.

Like AB said, MJ was not the best teammate, but he was exacting of his teammates who never rose to greater heights than when they played with him.

Except for Lebron's superstar teammates, we don't remember ANY of his supporting cast doing anything memorable because they spent so much time standing around and waiting for him to get them the ball.

Paxson and Kerr's name still RING in these streets, Kerr parlayed into some more rings with the Spurs and later a coaching gig with three time champs. #jordaneffect

oh ok so now jordan gets credit for playing against him in practice? hahahahaha, wow, the deification and knob slobbing of jordan reaching new heights here.

he wasn't confrontational enough? hmmm. maybe pat ewing disagrees.

>Like AB said, MJ was not the best teammate, but he was
>exacting of his teammates who never rose to greater heights

I mean Pippen played his entire prime in Chicago, had a role reduction in Houston and Portland although he still played very effectively well into his 30s.

>
>Except for Lebron's superstar teammates, we don't remember ANY

I mean that was the game most of those guys played their whole careers. They are set shooters. Are you going to tell me people remember the Paxsons, Kerrs, Armstrongs and Hodges of the world? Maybe for a big shot in one or two cases but not really.

>Paxson and Kerr's name still RING in these streets, Kerr
>parlayed into some more rings with the Spurs and later a

So do Robert Horry and Derek Fisher, so does Sam Jones, so does any set shooter who played on great title teams. Who was in that role in Miami? Ray Allen. They are still making shoes commemorating his big shots. This just seems like a bullshit argument that starts from the premise of elevating MJ above his teammates and competitors historically and works backward from there

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

In response to Reply # 126

I dont think most of yall watched these finals. Yall box score watching but somehow skip the box score when Pippen doesnt show up. Pippen struggled to score consistently and wasn't an efficient scorer either. He disappeared during large portions of the game. Pippen always defended well but 23 shouldered the offensive load for the team and played D.

Pippen by himself would've just avg in the low 20s for his career. Thats not a HOF in my book w/o at least a chip as Finals MVP.
