-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Show me what you can do with the team Lebron took to the finals. That's a helluva coaching job right there but Kerr coached the team to chips. Coming off a 73 win season Kerr coached a team that signed an MVP to a title. Good for him. He follows it up by doing it again and that's good for him. Next year this story repeats itself. Bottom line is you're supposed to win at least three titles with this team. If Bron can make 8 straight finals then this team should be able to win at least six chips.

Bring this up again during the 2020 GSW championship parade.

Jackson drafted Klay and Draymond, gave Draymond minutes
over those bums. It's why he was fired. People were saying that
Jackson was anti-intellectual for favoring Draymond over the
hyper-analytical-futurist Harrison Barnes and David Lee. It
cost him his job.

So Jackson actually built the team

Kerr fixed Steph's ankles, though.

Being a good coach is mostly about creating a winning system that complements your team and you can't claim to have a winning system unless a) you win consistently for a long time or b) you win with different players. (and B is implicit in A in the current NBA)

So Riley, Jackson and Pop are in my elite. I'd put Red up there even though he didn't have to deal with free agency... your still going to see some turnover in a decade.

Kerr has won with basically the same core of players who are at their peak. I'd put him up in the elite if they win another title in 4 years from now with KD gone and Draymond, Curry and/or Thompson coming of the bench. Or if he took a couple years off to heal his back, took a job with the Wizards and took them to a title.

Right now, he's with the other coaches that caught a great wave and dominated for a relatively short stretch of time. But he's above the guys that just did it once.

Right now if you stacked Kerr historically against other coaches, he would be like a Billy Cunningham. One stint, very very successful but never proven elsewhere or through ups and downs where he started. Frankly he hasn't had the opportunity to reach the very pinnacle of coaching because he hasn't had the chance yet and frankly he may never have it. Given his job security and the foreseeable greatness of the Dubs, as well as his back problems, it's quite possible that he never coaches anywhere else or with a significantly different group in Golden State. Now, if he wins five rings or whatever, I think he WILL be a hall of famer, but plenty of mediocre coaches who lasted forever are in the HOF. We are talking if he will be on a level with Red, Pop, Phil and them. That seems tough.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
